Wet setup, what's that? Shocked I just use my dry with maybe a little bit extra wing and a bit less brakes and stick the right tyres on (which apparently is a lot harder than it sounds. Grin Grin). Killer dry setups are still valid because they basically setup the car correct for the circuit, rain just slows you down it doesn't invalidate the setup for the circuit.

Nev, try adjusting a few of the graphics settings (see my incomplete guide on graphics settings) to see if you can run in the rain. If you're really struggling in the rain for FPS then I would suggest turning off all headlight effects, then going for reflections, then going for special effects. CPU is more important than graphics card for the rain/night effects so anything you can do to increase your CPU speed will help.

Its not going to happen with this rig Simon. Even with everything turned down (it is anyway) I only get about 5 to 10 fps in the wet. I don't have a problem with you guys running wet races, I would just like to know they are going to be wet in advance so I don't waste valuable hours practicing for a race I won't be able to take part in. As the rules stand at present though, I won't be taking any further part in the endurance events, sadly.

Its not about building a wet setup or being able to drive in the wet. Some systems simply can't handle the extra CPU load with rain, reflections and headlights all on. Mine is one of those systems. So, I won't bother running in the endurance races anymore until the rules are changed to reflect those facts.

Okay, I'm really pissed off with wasting hours of my valuable time building killer setups, only to find I can't even take part in the races. So, in future it would be much better if the weather file was generated based on the real weather a week in advance of the event, and stated in the initial race announcement so people know if it is going to be a wet race and can either build the correct setup for the conditions, or in my case not bother wasting any time if its going to be wet. Until this happens, I'm not going to waste any more of my time with these GT1 races.

Was closing on 9th when I was hit from behind and was sent into the gravel at Imola.

Jesus, someone must really have hit you hard to knock you into the gravel at Imola.  eek

cursing censored cursing

Sincere apologies Simon - that was entirely my fault. I was so busy flashing the headlights to let you know I was approaching as you exited the pits, that I missed my braking point by a good half second or so.  no

Other than that minor disaster, I had a really enjoyable race dicing with Paul H for the entire 40 minutes. I was lucky to get pole really, because Paul was clearly faster and more consistent during the entire race length. It was only my track position and the help of some of the traffic that enabled me to stay just ahead of Paul until the unfortunate business with Simon's TVR on the penultimate lap. So, congratulations on a well deserved victory Paul, and congrats also to the GT2 winners.

PS apologies to Paul Richards as well  oops

Isn't the Elite about the same pace as the Abarth? IIRC they made a good match at some of the twister tracks in GTL. Not that I care really anymore though - I'm with MJ on this one. Even the demo of the Power & Glory mod blows GTL into the weeds in every way  Cool
9  UKGTR / UKGTR Races / Re: UKGTR Season 5 Endurance Masters - Oschersleben (GP) - Jul 1 on: July 01, 2007, 08:47:12 PM +0100
Sod's law - first race this season I have actually had the time to make a setup for the GT1 endurance series, and I was really looking forward to this one with sub 1:21s already achieved with the Lister, plus great tyre endurance for the long runs. The most annoying part is, I actually did the laps online today with the UKGTR2 server, and of course the track was dry as a bone. Then I go on the server two hours later for the qualifying and it's a swimming pool  Roll Eyes

I tried a couple of laps with inters and wets but with all the spray and headlights on my fps had nosedived to the point where it was undriveable, so I had to quit out. Remind me never to practice for these events ever again. I forget once every year or so and something silly like this always happens  Lips Sealed

How much did you pay for your tickets? The prices seem to vary drastically.

To say that race was manic would be a huge understatement  Grin

I think I was trying a bit too hard in qually, and kept getting the car a bit too much out of shape in the final sector, which relegated me from 0.2s faster than Paul after sector 2, to 0.2s slower over the line. Great pole time anyway though Paul, especially with you being away from racing about a month.

I took med/med for the race and cautiously overfuelled the car to 66 litres. Whether it was this or just me being overcautious early in the race I don't know, but I was swamped by GT2 cars in the early laps, and dropped from about 12th on the grid to as low as 17th place at one point after a minor off track excursion. Fortunately for me, several other guys had offs and retirements which promoted me back into the top 12 or so, and by midrace I managed to find a bit more pace and started reeling back Simon and Paul.

I didn't really expect to get back past those two GTC cars on such a tight track with 15 minutes left on the clock, but as I closed on Simon it became clear his tyres were finished and after a few laps an opportunity came which allowed me to squeeze a pass down the inside going into the final corner. Paul was a few seconds up the road but a slight mistake allowed me to close right up to the back of his Mosler within a couple of laps. Then, almost immediately his engine let go, which was quite a shock when viewed at 100 mph from 3 feet behind his rear bumper  Shocked

Unlucky on the engine failure Paul, you must have been really ragging that redline  Wink  Congrats to Ruskus on the GT2 win, and thanks to everyone  I had a good battle with tonight.

Just did some laps in all three of the gt3 class cars. Suprisingly, they are all pretty close over a single flying lap, though the Viper would of course have the disadvantage of its weight in eating tyres and fuel over the race distance.

Best lap times were:

GT3 Cup 1:29.8
Viper CC 1:30.0
BMW Z3M 1:30.1

Short race for me. Somehow avoided Mo's wreck on the opening lap by driving under his flying car  eek

Then on lap 2 I'm guessing somebody had crashed just ahead of me at the chicane as my frame rate dropped to about 2 fps briefly, but just as I started braking for the chicane. By the time the screen caught up with what was happening, my car was facing backwards and in the tyres.  Lips Sealed

On an unrelated note, the 23 year old dopehead I affectionately refer to as my next door neighbour, just reversed an escort van off his drive and straight into the side of my MX-5 which was parked on the opposite side of the road. I honestly wonder why the world actually has 23 year old dopeheads, since they don't seem to serve any useful purpose whatsoever.   2guns

Sorry to here that mate. Hopefully not all his money goes on dope and he has insurance to cover the damage

No and no, I'm afraid.  gun_bandana
