1  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 44 (Spring 2024) 1955 GP (Privateers) - Reims - Apr 28 on: Yesterday at 08:44:05 PM
This was a fun race, I can tell the Merc has some good details at the rear, hehehe, spent almost all race behind it..
The start of the race was a bit agressive, some changes of positions and a small touch on Matt 555 Ferrari. Sorry for that I couldnt see you were that near, good thing none of us got damage.
Sorry for Ricardo that went wide on the tricky hairpin.
After some laps it was me and Bull on his Merc. I was slower but I didnt let him escape and leave me with no draft. Sometimes I could get first position just to be quickly overtaken by his powerful engine.
The last corner of the race was a good chance for me, I had a good line while he went a bit wide. I managed to close at him using the draft but I think I made a mistake.
On the last change of gear from forth to fifth I did lift up from the accelerator, if I didnt, who knows ? Maybe the Ferrari 4 cil would do the work and give me the 0.07s or blow up and cross the line with fire on my face...

Congratz podium and the finishers!
2  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 44 (Spring 2024) 1967 F1 (Privateers) - Imola - Mar 24 on: March 24, 2024, 10:33:09 PM +0000
Fun race!
Got pole but on the first lap I got out of track by misjudging the braking point and tyres temperatures. After it I was last but I managed to get to second position using the speed advantage of the Lotus.
Had a lot of fun with the overtakes and battles. There is a great standard of driving in this league.
Congratz to the finishers!
3  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 44 (Spring 2024) 1955 GP (Privateers) - Indianapolis - Mar 17 on: March 17, 2024, 10:53:23 PM +0000
Good Race, could bring the Super Squalo to a win.
Had a good start for the first laps until Ricardos Merc closed that gap. We had a battle, changing some positions until I was very close to him and suddenly his car jumped in front of me (netcode), I lifted abruptely from the pedal and that caused my car to spin. I had a very fast setup for the 555 but very tricky, had to care to not spin and dont burn the right front tire.
After the spin I was third, behind Ricardo and Molteni, 10s behind. As I got my tires on a good temp I started to push closing the gap slowly. Then the  Merc and Lancia started to change positions and the gap closed quickly.
I ovetook Ricardo while he got wide and closed on the Lancia to get the Tow overtaking it at the end of straight.
As I got first I decided to do some "indy manouvers" to let then both without the benefit of slipstreaming. As I had a small margin I kept an eye on the mirror to see what was happening, suddenly both Merc and Lancia crashed.
Then I just cruised to the chequered flag.
Congratz to the finishers.
4  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 44 (Spring 2024) 1955 GP (Privateers) - East London - Mar 3 on: March 04, 2024, 09:47:32 PM +0000
I was in doubt about what car to pick for this race. To go with Gordini or spend the credits and pick a better car. Decided to go with the Ferrari 625 as I like how she drives and didn't want to spend the rest of the coins.
Got a good setup, did some laps but couldn't match Ricardo Maserati for the Qualy. On the last minutes decided to go for somelaps with the Race fuel and had a surprise. Set my best lap and the car was handling better.
Oh Ferrari, sometimes they are strange.

As I felt that had a good car for the Race, I decided to be agressive on the first laps to get first position. I made it, overtook Ricardo and saw he made a mistake on hard braking point which put him in thid position. Quickly he was second again, and I saw that he was faster and closing the gap.
As he was decreasing the gap to less than 2 seconds, I made a mistake on The Esses and had a big corner cut, decided to let Ricardo go as there was a big gain margin in the cut.
After that he was increasing the gap and I decided that second place would make it but his name turned blue on pribula.
The Maserati engine gave up, after that just cruised the 625 to the racing end.

Difficult track to manage the brakes, was a good race.
Congratz everyone, see you in Indianapolis.

I don't know how people use 49 - 52 % brake bias and dont lose their cars. Is it the braking + accelerator technic?

Lasse Albrecht from asteroid B612 almost never lets off of the accelerator. His setup for this track has ramp angles of 30/85 and a FBB of 49%. This, obviously, is not for everyone.

Yeap, he is probably that fastest alien on GPL, with those type of setups I can barely do a corner.

Early accident for me.
Got Pole using the drafting of some people.
At the race start I almost lost the car and saw Ricardo jump to the lead.
Decided to not attack on the first laps but He was starting to increase the gap even when I was getting his draft.
Made a mistake on OstKurve while braking and got the car directly to the wall. less two wheels.

Brake Bias on this Original GPL mod is very tricky to me. I don't know how people use 49 - 52 % brake bias and dont lose their cars.
Is it the braking + accelerator technic?

Congratz to everyone who finished and to the Podium!

I just extracted the zip directly on tracks folder, above the other I had installed.
I will look into it after the race to prevent issues.

Hello people,
I installed the track posted on the forum by Cookie that prevent the game from crashing. Now I can just join the servers by IP. With my old track I could enter normaly via Igor.
Igor doesnt recognize the new track.
Is there a way to fix Igor in these situations ?

Congratz finishers! Ricardo and Chris were on another level yesterday.
I couldnt get the setup right on time the Super Squalo, was losing a lot of time on the third sector, also made a lot of driving errors. Passing the braking points and doing a visit to the grass on some laps.
Despite everything third is a good place, good points.

I wanted to ask, are the results of the 55s series going to be posted on GPL Weekly / formulado ?

Thanks!

This one was a fun race as always.
I started to enjoy driving the BRM since the last race, very balanced despite the heavy weight and lack on power on early revs.
Got a good qualifying lap and started forth, behind the Lotus and Ferraris.
I spent the first part of my race trying to keep up with Dave but no chance to overtake, on the straights before the 16 cylinders picked to a good revs the Ferrari had already opened a gap.
Midrace I lost concentration on the firt corner, there was a yellow flag and some cars stopped, I went wide and saw the Honda of Eric past.
Back on the same situation but another car in front... trying different lines, aggressive on braking, but the engine couldn't match the V12s.

Congrats to Podium and finishers, see you next!
12  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 44 (Spring 2024) 1967 F1 (Privateers) - Porto - Jan 28 on: January 28, 2024, 09:56:29 PM +0000
Congratz to everyone who takes it to the finish, tough track.
After a good qualy I made a silly mistake, misjudged braking point and ended with the car stuck on the bush.
See you guys next time!
13  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 44 (Spring 2024) 1955 GP (Privateers) - Assen - Jan 21 on: January 22, 2024, 11:42:16 PM +0000
It was a good race. I could make use of the car advantage to bring the full points home.
The Lancia really suits this circuit with all the esses and change of direction.
I wanted to ask,  will the privateers class result be up on the GPL weekly/formulado.hu site ?

Thanks for hosting and see you on next events!

Yeap, they were blue on this track. If I slided a lot they turned to light blue.
15  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 44 (Spring 2024) 1967 F1 (Privateers) - Interlagos - Jan 14 on: January 14, 2024, 11:11:08 PM +0000
This was a very difficult race.
I could gain first position on the first corners from Ricardo and open a gap of 5-6 secs to Eric until a mistake made it back to 2 secs on the final laps.
The strange thing for me, the car was vey difficult to drive on the last laps. I don't know if it was a psychological thing of being under pressure but damm I almost lost the car several times.
Is there tyre degradation on this mod or something to change the car dynamics during races ?

Congratz Podium and finishers of this bumpy race.
