Season 44 F1 1967 WORKS – Round 8 – Aintree
The eighth race in the 1967 F1 Works championship finds us at Aintree in England. Aintree is located in the outskirts of Liverpool in the north of England. It is where Stirling Moss, driving a Mercedes, won his first British Grand Prix in 1955.  After a race of 90 laps, Stirling finished in a time of 3h 7m 21.2s, just 0.2 seconds head of his illustrious Argentine teammate Juan Manuel Fangio. Mercedes dominated the race with a 1–2–3–4 finish with Karl Kling and Piero Taruffi driving the other two Mercedes cars. The first British driver / British car victory in a British Grand Prix was also at Aintree in 1957, when Stirling Moss and Tony Brooks shared a Vanwall.

Please note: Aintree has generous run-off areas so please respect the track limits. Please check the rules regarding corner cutting (see sub para 11 under the General section on the Racing Etiquette page) and the Penalty Guidelines for a bad rejoin.

THERE ARE MORE THAN 19 REGISTERED DRIVERS IN THIS SERIES, SO :
The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

If GPL is to survive, we all need to introduce a new drivers to UKGPL. I'm not saying that we all need to have children in order to do this, but we all must know at least one other petrol-head who might be interested?

Go on, make this your mission for 2024.
Registrations have been gradually creeping up. There have been seasons not so long ago where one grid was more than enough. I would, however, hazard a guess that the average age for UKGPL is 50+ so good to get some new blood.

Great video Dimi, it must take you hours to edit them.

Thanks for highlighting Tom's fair racing when he gave the place back after our bump. Having looked at the replay I would have put this down as a racing incident if it had been moderated. I made a mistake at the esses which gave Tom the opportunity to close on the straight and so he had plenty of overlap at turn-in. I tried to give him plenty of room but his rear end stepped out otherwise there would have been no contact. Gaining a place in such circumstances is never rewarding so Tom probably made the right choice but IMO he wouldn't have been penalised if he hadn't. Thanks for the fair racing Tom.

Thanks Phil, not much work actually when you have the plan. I also have some ideas ti even improve the concept. We will see.

Indeed the situation looked like a racing incident. You both were unlucky there. Fair play to Tom again.

While Yannick was making his way through the field he caught up to the group I was dicing with. After out braking myself on the inside going into the hairpin I drifted wide. This allowed Will to pull up on my right side with Yannick trailing behind me. Heading into the esse's Yannick was now on my left side with Will on the right. I braked hard to give room for Yannick and went wide, hugging the bank while Yannick stayed to the inside. Great job of avoiding me Will as I tried to get back on the racing line, it's a shame the server thought we touched and sent you off. I only suspected there was contact since my car didn't react at all.

Phil, sorry for the contact, my pass attempt put me to far inside and I had to scrub some speed to try and get back to the racing line. If I hadn't slowed so much, I think the server would not have simulated any contact, because looking at my replay you barely touched my gearbox. However I didn't feel like it was a clean and responsible pass, so I yielded the position. It's not like we are racing motocross were block passes seem to be the norm.

Don't think the Cooper was a good choice for this track, I could keep up with the draft, but no chance to overtake without going to deep into the corners. Thanks for the fun, close and fair racing all!
