The next track looks very different.

Yes, I try to mix it up as much as possible when selecting tracks for the season. You wait until you see my crazy idea for Season 45 Smiley

After qualifying a modest I took a quick leak break before the race, which took longer than I wanted to. Result: I missed the initial start!
So off I went, starting through the pits with a 25 second deficit.
Well that makes your drive even more impressive! I must admit I've made the same mistake but I've never turned it into a win. I wondered how you appeared in my mirrors after a few laps, I hadn't noticed you on the grass, now I know.

That was one drive and a half!

After qualifying a modest I took a quick leak break before the race, which took longer than I wanted to. Result: I missed the initial start!
So off I went, starting through the pits with a 25 second deficit.
With an empty track for myself I got going, and measured how much I could recover. Just a couple of laps in I felt very good in the Lola and could see from the gap to the leaders that I had the pace to catch up to the leaders by the late stages of the race.

The positions came to me quickly and before the halfway point I was back on the podium already. From there on the progress went a little slower. I was catching up to Patrick and Tristan though progress went a little slower. Nonetheless I got closer every lap, got past Patrick, and had a good bunch of laps left when I was right at the back of Tristan.

But things got a little tricky from there. With 6 or 7 laps left my fuel gauge already went red. This gave me a bit of a scare as at this race, I would not make it to the line without my engine gasping for fuel. With that, I settled myself behind Tristan, shifting a little earlier and taking some corners in one gear higher to save fuel.

With two laps left I saved enough to go on the attack. I overtook Tristan in the Hairpin, but he had enough tow on the straight afterwards to pass me back Esses. To avoid a repeat, I overtook him at Riches on the final lap and built a gap so Tristan didn't have enough to get back to me at the Hairpin. And by then, I got the race sealed, finishing with 0.5 gallon in the tank!

I provided myself with quite a challenge but I drove one heck of a race so I'm very happy with it.

Well done all finishers, see you on the next one.

Looks like we will both be looking for a tow Dave..... I can't remember what times I was doing here, or in what car
but Danny looks annoyingly fast  Roll Eyes

I haven't figured out this next Italian town, seems very messy to me so far. braking and turn in points are a guess
Stardust I can do, and the Glen is one of my all time faves, so I have that to look forward to.

I had a chance for a very good result but I wasted it.

I made a mega lap in the quali - only 1 second off the pole position, and it was enough only for P7.  oops

The start was decent I was able to stay away from contacts, avoided making mistakes and people had trouble as well and I was promoted to P3. I was driving really well until the moment I looked into the standings before T3 and when my eyes were back on the road it was late for decent braking. I slammed the brakes and spun the car, hit something really hard and I knew I need a Sfift+R. I had to wait for 7 cars to pass safely as well and that basically killed my chances for something remarkable.

Of course I did not gave up and from P10, after Gebhard made a mistake and after I was the leader of a great battle with Fulvio, I was able to finish in P8, bringing some points into the piggy bank.

My hopes for top 6 in the championship are still alive, but as I won't participate in the last round and as I already didn't participated in 1 round so far, the room for error is over.

Congrats on the winner and the podium guys and my sympathy to Clive and everyone with trouble last night.

Welcome, Danny and congratulations on a podium finish. Believe me, at 29, you're still a kid in GPL terms. Great to see a new driver on the grid.

Danny,i mistoke you for Phil Thorton, are you related?
Hi Fran, yes Dan is my son. He isn't a kid, he's 29, I've been trying to get him into GPL for 10 years and he's finally had a go. A decent showing for a first race, I'm pleased he didn't have any incidents and made a few clean overtakes.
