Was running a safe second and coming up to lap Baz and just following him until we got to the main straight when all of a sudden he seemed very slow between 9 & 10 and I hit him. Not sure if he was trying to let me past but if so I really wasn't expecting it there. Either way, sorry Baz Sad.

I got the meatball flag, went straight into the pits but got the "too much damage" message and it wouldn't repair me even though I hadn't had any previous repairs. Was the 'free' repair option enabled or did I get caught out by the invisible repairs that can take place during a normal pit stop? (can't think of why I would have damaged anything prior to the first stop - I was grounding a little but nothing major & I didn't hit any kerbs hard or anything like that).

Couldn't make this one in the end as my study was in tatters and even if the race had started when it should have done I would not have had the network plugged in again by then. Oh well, tired anyway, hope you had a good one. I'll try to make the next one.

Sorry for the cockup on the timings - the server started at the right time, but for some reason it was only on a 50 min practice session, rather than 80 .... it was late going up the round before and the session lengths hadn't been ammended.

Unofficial results here; I'll leave Adam to import them into the SRou system, partly as a punishment for getting the settings wrong Tongue and partly to make sure everything will run smoothly whilst I'm in NZ. Unlike the dedicated server, once a session is up, unless it's massively wrong it causes more problems than it solves to start a new session, as AFAIK there's no easy way to cancel the incorrect session, especially if you're not the host.

I did quite a lot of running in the official series one way or another this week and all that preparation really paid off. I knew about the landmine in turn 1 after a disastrous time trial early on Saturday, and broke with tradition, starting on 50kg instead of a full tank to avoid having to run over it on the first couple of laps with low tyre pressures. Dmitry and Peter had a little coming together at the Honda hairpin which promoted me to third, and soon I found that I had much better race pace than Peter, who I suspected had already picked up some damage from the mine, and was soon past him and off after Rik.

I was even more surprised to be able to pass him too, but had to keep pushing and stay in the 17s on all the clear laps as I knew I had to take a full load of 50kg at each stop. In fact I ended up taking 48 but I suppose even if I'd started with 60kg I'd still have had to take 43kg per stop.

That dropped me back to third until the two cars ahead also pitted, after which I was never out of the lead. To my surprise this track has proved much better for this mix of cars than I expected; lots of places where the LMP can use its downforce to blow by GT cars on corner entry or exit with little risk or time lost for either, and a few where it's even possible to go round the outside - though I wasn't brave enough to try it at Lukey Heights until I saw Rik make it work there. Top marks to all the GTs coping with me sweeping round into, through and out of T2 and the final pair of left handers. Cool

The icing on the cake was getting the white flag with a full lap lead, which meant I could throw caution to the wind for that last lap; I made a little bit of space for myself on the penultimate rotation and then gave it everything for that final lap, knocking two tenths off my PB and getting what I think is one of only two outright race lap records I hold at SRou (the other being at Sebring Modified).

That's a cracking way for me to bow out of the series - sadly I'm going miss the last round at Okayama - sadly for you lot anyway, it'll be okay for me as I'm on holiday. Tongue Grin

Yes Rik I was slow over that rise as I kept locking breaks and missing the apex so took it easy, sorry if I caught you out but thought i was keeping to the right to allow you to sweep round. I think I also caught Dimitri out earlier as he breaked and went off out of control and tboned me after that corner. I went flying through the air and ended back in the pits for a repair and full tanks, Weird. Then I had a small brush with Willem but not much damage although top speed seemed compromised.  I also hit that frigging land mine and got given a 15 second hold drive through penalty, which gave me full tanks again. Then our little touch Rik when next lap I drove off and just hit the tyres lost the front and was told to much damage were done. I think I might have had a paintswap with James early on and a spin but it didnt seem to affect him. So I lasted 55mins and DNF sorry if I caused any grief but think I managed GTs OK just not enough practice to trouble anyone else.

Had a great race again!

Hadn't done much practise as been doing the 24 hour race stuff all week so was pleased i was still on pace with the usual suspects.

Just grabbed pole at the end of qually but knew Jasper was gunna be quick and Russell. Didn't get a great start and Russell got ahead into T1. We were all nose to tail until the lapping started, Russell had a problem which left me in the lead but Jasper was all over me and i was having to concentrate so hard to stay ahead. We went side by side for 3 turns and i managed to stay ahead (it can be done, great driving Jasper  Cool) till my stop where it all went wrong. Somehow i had messed up the fuel and took way to much which let Jasper get ahead. He had a 9 sec gap at one point but i never gave up and the last 10 laps or so i was flying and i got the gap down to under 2 secs on the last lap  Shocked  but it wasn't quite enough.

Grats Jasper, was a great scrap.
Grats to Dave as well.

P.s where has everyone gone lately?

Congrats on the win Dave, you certainly had the best pace in the actual race. I could have been faster, but only at serious risk of spinning. I did think for a while that I would be able to close the gap through a shorter second stop, but by the time I crashed out your lead was too large for that to have any hope of working.

Are you only going to miss Okayama or will you also be missing the real last round at Daytona Road?
