Curiosity got the better of me and I bought the 10 Euro junior option.

I'm disappointed with the behaviour of the cars. They feel quite nice to drive but behave very unrealistically and arcadey at the moment. They're too easy to throw around and recover, even the '68 car. However, as I said before I believe the physics is just a temporary working model, just hope they go the sim way and not arcade.

Also if you have anything but a high end system you can forget about those drooly video clips. My midrange box nearly fainted and even once I'd managed to get a decent fps, the graphics were dire. Again I believe this is also a WIP so hopefully things will get better  Undecided

After having signed up I installed it.................and got a black screen and my hard drive working overtime.

So I left it for an hour to see if it calmed down. No joy I'm afraid

Any help.

It seems as a "junior" member I'm not allowed to talk to the big boys  LOL

Wow that looks fantastic. Those drive shafts on the 68 Lotus  Shocked

Just hope the physics ends up being the same quality.

I can't believe more has not been made of this on here.

I haven't had this much fun for ages (don't snigger)

Given that this is pre alpha and only about 10% on the way I think it's incredible.

Yes there are plenty of glitches and minor hiccups but the developers seem to keep a sharp eye on the forums and most moans seem to either get fixed
or given a reason why it's not been done.

I've not been racing all summer as I got a bit jaded with it all and I couldn't be bothered.

I really joined the project just to see if it was just hype. Best £22 I've spent in ages.

Had some really good fun in the "Lotus 49" at "Watkins Glen". Like going back to the early GPL

I can only see it getting better and better. Recently got licensing for some Caterham content and the MSV Cadwell, Snetterton, Brands etc tracks.

They are also working on "Belgian Forest" track as well as Italian "Bologna" track

Only downside is that it does require a fairly powerful setup (Well that's what Christmas is for)

I thoroughly recommend this to members here and can see the guys here being able to contribute to the development of the title.

Not me of course. I just drive them very slowly.

Even managed to get Tinman interested and spend his money   LOL

I agree with your early GPL comment Oilseal.
Hot lapping (well tepid anyway) in the Lotus 77 at Bologna is a blast.
It's like getting a new game every Friday.

Only done 2 iRaces in the last 2 months. Not buying another game I haven't got time to play until I have time to play the ones I do have. This is on my list to try though.

Well, I downloaded the cheap version and have been pretty dissapointed.

The sounds are great.

The graphics are not great, they would be great if they were actually smooth but it's jerky (I have a pretty high end system too). Lowering graphics settings doesn't make any difference, the overall feeling is sluggish from the graphics. It's so sluggish that it gives me motion sickness (something I suffer badly from with FPS games). There's definately some bugs in the graphics too, but I guess they will get sorted eventually. The frame rate counter is 60fps or above yet it's sluggish when cornering especially.

Ignoring the half finished tracks and cars I've never heard of, the general handling of the cars is basically a slightly revised Shift 2 (crap). The cars see-saw from left to right down the straights and you don't get the feeling your driving a car at all. There appears to be some wierd steering lag which means you don't get the feeling that when you turn the wheel the car will do anything. Reducing steering lock, force feedback, done all the things they suggested on the pCARS forum, but it only improves it slightly.

It's alright saying this is WIP, but it's so far away from anything decent that I won't be playing it again until they fix the steering feel. It does feel like there could be a good game under there somewhere, but without decent steering feel it's pants. They should 100% concentrate on fixing the steering and input before doing anything else to the game.

but otherwise it's all great yeah? Undecided Wink

I don't bother with this stuff until everyone else is still saying it's "amazing" a month or two after proper release.

As this project is still in it's Alpha stage it's probably best to also put these points forward to C.A.R.S. The more feedback they get from sim racers, the better (hopefully) the game will be become. Thanks for the report though.
I was only talking to Legzy last night about maybe getting this as the graphics looked amazing, but if it's still very much WIP then I'll give this one a miss until it's been released and bug tested.

That really does sound like NFS Shift 2.

Yeah, sorry, I don't buy this "Alpha" business. The tracks are alpha, the rest is their NFS Shift 2 code base so it's hardly Alpha!

I am really enjoying this game as something at an early stage. I am getting none of the graphic or input lag that Shark describes although I know plenty on the CARS forum do. Perhaps I am being lucky. I sometimes get the car trying to fight its way off track but can solve it by quitting and restarting the game. As somebody else said it's like driving the updated version of GPL demo whilst we were waiting for the full version years ago.

There are some really fantastic screen shots from the dx11 people although I do not have a graphic card to take advantage of this yet.

I've tried the non DX11 version and it is a tiny bit quicker but it doesn't solve all the issues.
