How's the game handling contacts? If it's iR wise then I may pass. Don't want to drive and be afraid of scraping paint... sleep1

I wouldnt mind trying this out before they close the open alpha/ beta phase. The content sounds amazing. Though i said that about rF2 and havent touched the (admittedly) beta since....

Thats been an expensive disapointment.

The frontend looks amazing i have to say, but clicking practise and i have to wait a few minutes with the cpu not really doing anything, then i get put in the car with about 0.1 fps, infact everything reacts so slow, like the in game exit menu. clicking it several times before you catch the cycle right for it to be registered.

Hi spanner
Its worth looking at. I had to upgrade my computer and graphics card though(I was getting ready to upgrade so no real problem)

Have enjoyed the weekly builds and have been really interested in the development side. Remember that this is still pre alpha so you get plenty of differing views from the members.

Fortunately I've not had any real problems with the game apart from adding some tweaks to my G25 as the FFB seems to be updated each build.

Up to now have had more value for my money since GPL.

Around the forums it's been quite amusing to follow the other game fan boys.

It is possible to have more than one great game

thats my biggest issue, its clearly not scaleable at all, some people dont have any problems with it. I wonder if you need to have the same hardware as the devs. I hardly think i need to upgrade when others with a lot less powerful parts can run it. Its just staggering how variable the software seems to be.

And i have no idea what you would catagorise my issues as as to where to put it on the forum.

I can see your problem. As the devs keep telling everyone nothing is optimised yet so you will get the big variations.

I just took a leap and upgraded what I could afford. I've got an AMD Phenom X6 1050 and HD6870 card alongside Win 7.

Posted up and removed the 3dvision software and it now runs yay! but i can see its definately a pre-alpha! So still trying to work it all out, not really had a chance to drive the cars yet, done several runs down to the second chicane at monza but ffb isnt too nice, shadows are awfull and ruin your vision plus the screen would go very dark randomly when driving. Strange situation where you cant see what all the commands are so i think there is a timing hud and you can change/ tweak the cameras.

Slowly trying out the settings to see what they do but am getting 100plus FPS.

Posting your probs on the WMD forums will glean you much knowledge and save you time.

The devs seem to spend a lot of time on the forums so if you have a unique prob they'll get back to you.

Tip: Add all your equipment specs to your signature. It helps with sorting out any issues.

Try the F68 at Watkins Glen for that GPL feeling LOL

Sorry Oily, it is only an Alpha but sounds like triple screen arnt particularly optimised yet. But for 10 Euros id, recomend everyone tries it out. Best thing i've driven. Trying the Formula A (F1' ish) round Spa was insane! DTM and LMP (is it a diesel?? doesnt rev at all) are the best cars for me.

SMS announces licensing agreement with Ford. Some great cars in there.

Better and better.

That is a decent list of cars.. Just hope they get a bit more feeling into the car/driving models then they do at present.
The older F1 seems good to me but the Tintops leave me cold atm.

I just wish there'd leave the content for a while and sort out the game as a whole and try and get it nearer a finished product. When in game i have no idea what track i'm selecting, or what car i'm selecting. Pick a car & track and guess where you are!

I managed to find a press release they were going to release a load of MSV tracks from right at the beginning of the project, are they in there?

Couldn't agree more Spanner. I don't care if they have 5 million cars and tracks, if it feels pants to drive it's still pants, whether or not they have a 1960s Ford Escort complete with furry dice or not.

http://www.virtualr.net/project-cars-funding-goal-reached

Well they say they've reached their monetry goal so you cant sign up to try it out anymore, but the real comment is that people will have to wait till late 2013 for it. So another year to wait!

I just havent played it much at all, wit hthe constantly changing build the re-setting up of the controls and options is a pain.

Finally got round to trying this out briefly after a few weeks away, had to reinstall which didnt help. Am interested to know the concensus is on the ruf 'porsche' in game. It is only a road car, but trying it round Donnington it felt very twitchy down craners and into most corners but ended up with understeer when pushed.
