Moderator's Report

It was a first time...
First time an official UKGPL race was held on this wonderful but very demanding track.
First time for me organizing and moderating a championship race.
First time for three 65s divisions.
I hope you enjoyed it!

The race was full of action and there were some racing incidents after the red zone, but none was reported.
You decided not to report them! If you would have, there should have been some penalties...

Server replay time: 0h52m13s

Tristan crosses the line as the winner and takes the chequerred flag.
He stops short after the finish line and uses the reverse gear to cross it backwards.
He then does some nice donuts on the finish line when Göran comes in and gets caught by Tristan.
By this action Tristan was penalized by GPL with a lap down.

The Reccomended Driver Behaviour has this;
"Get off the track and out of the way ASAP if your car is non functional. If you crash, spin out, run out of fuel, whatever, so that you’re on the track but not moving or moving very slowly for where you are, then move off the track as quickly as you can. If in a Pro race where a Sift-R isn't possible, retire ASAP if that's the fastest way to clear the road in a particular circumstance. Treat this as a matter of urgency, as if every fraction of a second counts, ( and it often does). Your race may be done but others are still trying to compete as best they can. Running into your stationary or slowly moving vehicle will not make their day. At the very least get away from the racing line, and do it with all haste."

Tristan, you clearly saw the ?rainbow? mist and just didn't think about the consequences!
Your car was non-functional by virtue of having finished and no longer being part of the race.

Free car choice!  Shocked

I had just ranted on about MagicArsouille having been given a Lotus when I noticed that, lol.  Cheesy

TBH, it's not a good decision IMO. With an Intermediate division you could've had a much more precise handicap in Pro and thus create a very close championship which does not turn into spec racing.

A big compliment to the pro drivers!
I can't see the signs of a spec racing, with 6 different cars driven  Roll Eyes
There will be a bigger problem of spec racing at the ints!
The pros had free car choice, but have to keep it now.

If free choice remains, I can guarantee you would have much less than 6 different cars on some tracks.  Wink

Sorry Hristo, but maybe its my bad english...

"Drivers will have to remain in that chassis for the rest of the season, they will only be allowed to swap chassis in exceptional circumstances and only with the approval of the moderator."

This sentence in the race post says, the free car choice is for this S22 and not for each race!

The active drivers seem to have understood Wink
See Juha!

Had a good result last night - I chose to start at the back (Honest - it wasn't a complete and utter lack of preperation!  ninja) and as a result managed to avoid the Carnage with Natan, Al, and Mark.
I then settled into trying to get a rythem going while I learnt the track better - at the same time dealing with interest from Clutch (Who I passed off the line) and Juha who both clearly wanted to be infront of me  Grin

After I got my head down I started to pull away over the next 2-3 laps, only to clip the outside haybales at the top of the hill near the hospital. The resulting spin carried me nearly halfway down the hill before I came to rest and allowed most of the field to re-pass me, I think only Fulvio missed out on the free positions as I rejoined..

A lap or two later Clutch span in the esses climbing up the hill and I passed him again only to find that Juha was peddling his BT7 ( Brave choice! Shocked ) as fast as he could so I wasn't really gaining on him very much.
A few more laps passed as I improved my lines and slowly started to reel him in, when I eventually did so he suprised me totally by moving over and lifting to allow me through - I expected a fight!  Cheesy
At this point I was maybe 4 seconds behind Alex but gaining fairly rapidly with lots of laps remaining so I continued pushing as hard as I felt was safe and eventually caught him just intime for the long run down the hill.
I moved across to the inside in order to outbrake Alex (I'd noticed he braked earlier than me here anyway while catching him) and he made it easy for me by slowing slightly earlier than normal - probably so I didn't collect him if I out braked myself  Grin

Due to numerous retirements and the shinanigans of the start I was upto 3rd, qiute a way back from Goran but also gaining on him at a steady rate. No hope of catching him though as only 3 laps remained.

All in all I'm chuffed with 3rd given my starting position and dodgy setup (Direct copy from a Schotten setup with modified 5th gear!)

Pleased to see all the new talent in the Pro's this season - hope you all stick around as it looks set to be an interesting fight  thumbup1

Well done Tristan and Goran, and of course our other finishers  Smiley

yes i thought this was the track where close racing were impossible and maybe cause an accident when watching 0,001 seconds too long on mirrors cause car hitting one of those light poles. laugh

good race for me too , i did practise under 10laps maybe?  for a race i was setting up a "cruise" mod for BT7 and it worked quite well  Grin , not singe error and i learned the track during the race distance. Fighting with Tim and A.Barresi with Ferrari  who i tried to catch but never succeeded as Tim was closing behind 1 sec faster per/lap.

BT7 worked fine but will lack speed on fast circuits.

good start for 65 season !
