Interesting find Tony.
Many thanks.
My race was straight forward but I was by no means boring. I made a good start and followed John through T1 with Manteos behind me. I had established in testing that getting through T2 without using the grass on the outside was the key to a decent lap so perhaps I surprised Manteos by my braking point. As it was I only just stayed on the tarmac and thankfully Manteos missed me.
John was quick through T2 and Valley(T3) so had broken the tow by the time that we hit the straight. I then spent the rest of the race trying to stay within striking distance in the hope that he would make a mistake, but he didn't.
Matt was keeping me honest for almost half distance but then had an off that cost him about twenty seconds gave rise to a big sigh of relief.
I had a couple of minor grass/sandy moments one of which was on the last lap when I was busy braking at the end of the straight, trying to keep the rear wheels behind the front ones when a little chequered flag appeared on the XD board. Frightened me to death! I was so intent on fighting the Mustang that I hadn't noticed the stage of the race, although the state of my front left tyre was a give away. Must have been all of a couple of red pixels left on the wear gauge!
Congrats to John and hard luck to Manteos on his connection problems. Hard luck to Stig, who apparently fuelled for another six laps and was even more surprised than I was when the end of the race was announced. I believe that he had the first Falcon across the line.
See you next week but not too keen on the weather blighted GB series.
PS Many thanks to the people being lapped for letting me through whilst chasing John for all I was worth. Much appreciated.
PPS Thanks for the Lap Chart Alex.
