Good opening round of the new TC season, nice mix of cars and okay-ish turnout  Smiley

Half way through qually i kept thinking of jumping into a Cortina instead as could see i would be closer to others on times, but knowing how iffy P&G can be sometimes for leaving and returning into an online game, i stayed with the Alfa.

Race soon showed i should have gone for the cortina as i finished about 28 secs behind the Stang posse up front and 28+ secs in front of my nearest challenger behind (also in an Alfa). Could have enjoyed a race long battle with Matt, Les and Saandjoir probably.
As it turned out, i had a lonely race from lights to flag. Kept it clean and consistent and finished a solid 5th behind the Mustangs and uber-John  Smiley
Congrats to grumpy Clive for his race win  Grin

Would the Alfa junior be better matched with the cortinas etc?  Maybe ban the Transam version of the Mustang too  Undecided  (all in the interests of closing the field).

LOL
You sure you are not related to Jean-Marie Balestre?

He used to like changing the rules whilst the event was actually running?   Grin

I wouldn't worry Mark, three of the four Mustang drivers won't be able to take the Transam next race because of the handicap system  Grin

Read the thread for race 2 Clive:

https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=10076#event3063

You will have to drive the BSCC Mustang at the next race. Not too bad, any Cortina driver who gets in the top 6 will have to race the GT in the next race, & that is sloooooooooooooooow.

I hadn't read those rules  Embarrassed
It could be argued I now have a tiny advantage over my fellow 'stang drivers due to the added experience  Cheesy

Good to see John gets a 1300 aswell as it'll increase my chances even further (Unless it rains)  ninja

Good grief!

What are the chances of anyone turning up in the right car at Round 2?

@Tim  I did about eleventy million laps of Snet in the BSCC before Stig pointed out that the TA had an extra 18bhp.  Grin

Hard luck on Stig last night btw.

I thanked John last night for keeping Geoffers busy but thinking about it I probably need to thank Geoffers for keeping John busy too.  Tim rear ending John helped both Geoffers and me.  Grin

I had my TA on its top ratio and realised that I would have to rev the nuts off it before dropping the clutch when the light went green.
That did the trick and let me get to T1 in the lead.

At the end of the straight on lap one I braked a bit late on race fuel and cold tyres and went a bit deep.  That made me a bit slow at mid-corner and I donated a brake light to Geoffers' collection.  The nudge caused him more problems than me and opened up a car length or so of gap so that I never had to worry about anyone in my mirrors.

John set about Geoffers and I was able to open up a gap, which got to about 9 seconds at one point.  I lost a bit of time just by bad luck of where I encountered back markers but everyone was very gentelmanly about letting me through.  Many thanks.

Not a great fan of Knockhill and the Mustang would not normally be my choice but the grunt should be useful coming up the hill past the pits after the hairpin.  Glad I'm not in a 1300!  Grin

Hope to see you all next week for a nice dry race at Portland.

Nice review Clive. I know what you mean about luck where you meet us backmarkers. Hopefully we don't hold you faster types up too much.

BTW I wonder if Clive's read about the handicapping for Portland yet  whistling

so, its as i thought, we stick with our current car until after Donington (ie 3 rounds), then we can change? But what i didnt know is the change is also restricted by our results?

I would only hamper the 'fast' cars of the group (ie transam, Alfa GTA, westlake), as making someone in a cortina drive say a slower variant of it wont do much for their enthusiasm!
