Blew the engine whilst downshifting (again).
Liked the Porsches and track. Bummer. Engine revision won't be cheap  :'(

Me too Alex.  Sad

I have become lazy with PnG, not bothering to lift on up shifts and making very aggressive downshifts too.  None of the other cars seem to care but the RSR appears to.

I noticed a lot of burning Porsches during practice and qually and just assumed that they had hit something.

The down-under series has not been very kind to me yet.  I has totted up a disconnection, a hissy fit from my gfx card and now a blown engine.

It can only get better.  Grin

You heathens mashing your engines with heavy downshifts  Tongue ..i did say dont drop a gear too harshly!

Thought i was going to have a mare of an evening when i turned up late and found my setup which had felt great all week, suddenly felt pants online tonight  Huh Luckily i had downloaded Stigs setup to take a peek so quickly adopted that. Would have been quicker if i had time to tweak it slightly to my taste as it had a lot of understeer.

Race started well, got a better get away than matt and got past up the inside to T1 and set about chasing Clive. We had a good battle for about 15 laps always within a few secs, whilst Matt dropped back, but eventually Clive started to eek out a 5-7 sec lead on me. I carried on chasing him but about mid race he disapeared in a cloud of smoke at the end of the straight and i found myself 3rd  Shocked

Matteos soon re-caught me after his earlier spin and i let him past rather than make a big error trying to defend someone obviously so much quicker. Then had a quiet race on my own with a 18sec gap to Ade in 3rd and a 44 sec lead over stig behind when on lap 36 or so i got the front right on the kerb at T1 and it daftly slid me into the fence losing part of my front splitter  Sad
I rejoined with a 30 sec lead still, so decided to just keep going to the end, albeit losing a second a lap to increased understeer from the aero damage.

Finished a decent enough 4th place in my beloved RSR  Cool  Well done to the flying John, Matteos and Ade  Smiley

Usual newbie moves for me...

Started 2 nd, after some corners, I took the first place due to a mistake by John. I knew that it would have been difficult to overtake in this circuit stucking on the inside line... but after 2 or 3 laps, my car spun at the penultimate corner  hang hang hang So the kind present of an opportunity to fight against him til the end, simply vanished into thin air.
I had enough time to replace the gap with the guys that passed me after my spin (MJ-Clive-Ade), but I found a poor resistance from my "enemies", so I finished the race in 2nd place, but with a bad taste in my mouth for the wasted opportunity to fight against John Embarrassed.
I'm sure that it would have been more fun even for him, but it's a negative period for me with P&G 2. I hope things will go better in the future Roll Eyes

Cu in 2 weeks Smiley

Unofficial LapChart

Blew the engine whilst downshifting (again).

I have become lazy with PnG, not bothering to lift on up shifts and making very aggressive downshifts too.  None of the other cars seem to care but the RSR appears to.

I noticed a lot of burning Porsches during practice and qually and just assumed that they had hit something.
That was probably me  Cheesy
Other PnG cars seem to be able to handle overrevving/engine braking. Onboard cams in real racing cars also seem to use the technique quite often.
The only other car I managed to turn into a BBQ was the Lotus Elite  Huh
Well, lesson learned I guess...

You heathens mashing your engines with heavy downshifts  Tongue ..i did say dont drop a gear too harshly!

I bow to the Porsche God and I solemny pledge to downshift with care I Am Not Worthy  Wink

Thank you Alex for posting the lapchart  thumbup1.

This was a better one for me.
Had a stable setup based on Stig's one (thanks again Stig) slightly modified - for one time
in the right direction  Grin and suitable for my personal style of driving.
New PB's during practice and race and six or seven times I was on my way to another PB
slightly under 0.58 at split 2 but each time I lost the advantage again after split 2  Sad
No problems at all concerning overreving/engine braking  Huh. Was able to brake considerably
later than Alex and Tony due to a suitable combination of braking (set to 100%) and
enginebraking  Smiley. Nice fight with Alex during first part of the race but more than difficult to
pass on this track  Grin .
Unfortunately both left the game early  Sad so I had the usual and lonely race at the back of the
field paying attention to the leaders when lapping.
Some trouble with the curbs too during the race.
Had to slow a bit during the last quarter of the race after some damage caused by a turner
but very happy to finish in sixth place which I hadn't expected.

Congratulation to the podium.

See you next time!

Great little track and I love the 911 - good choice Matt thumbup1

Just got ahead of Matteo at the start and held onto it through the first corner, but then dropped a wheel on the grass before the fast right-hander Angry It could have all gone horribly wrong but I just managed to hold on to the slide before Ade could go through as well.

Caught back up to Matteo over the next few laps before he made a mistake at the last corner - shame about that Sad We'll have a good race one of these days...

Did anyone notice what their tyre wear was at the end? I'd practised offline in a Goodyear car and calculated that the wear on the front-left would be around 18 with mediums, but I swapped to a Dunlop after I saw I was in the same car as Ade. Wear at the end was about 14, so probably could have got away with using softs instead. Was just wondering if this was because of the different tyres or the different grip level online.
