Gent's, I've placed a poll here regarding the Mustang's use.

I'd like to introduce a new rule for this series, with effect after this event, along the lines of "the Mustang can not be chosen for two consecutive parts".

If your in favour please vote "Yes please". Those against please vote "No thanks".

The majority opinion will be adopted.

Thanks in advance

Tony

PS I don't like adding rules after a season has started but in this case I think it's a good call.

Blatant discrimination against Mustang drivers now!

Humph!!!!

I'm sure that to change rules after we start it should really be unanimous.

Was not sure whether to bother with this one when I realised i would have to use the GT
but had a go anyway, had some fun when Ade fell off, but then I did too, and didn't have the
heart to do any more. so went and played Descent for abit.

Your probably right. Following tonight's race I'd like to change a couple of things especially for the Cortina camp cos that GT is hopeless. I'll scrap the Mustang poll (if I can?) and have a rethink.

EDIT: Poll now changed and previous voting is deleted. Please vote again.

Hello folks, I had a great time at yesterday’s race!

I managed a 4th position on the grid in the Cortina Lotus, behind the V8 Mustangs and the ever amazing flying John_W in the Alfa GTA.

Right from the start, the Mustangs of Clive and Mr Muttram had a race long battle for 2nd place, leaving John_W room to drive off in the distance and me behind the battling pair in 4th place.

In my mirror I saw Stig, who started in last position in the Mustang T/A, gaining fast and mid-race he was right on my tail but he went off while passing me on the straight. We didn’t touch, so I hope it wasn’t because of me?

Then I rethought my tactics, hoping the two Mustangs in front of me would have tire trouble in the later part of the race. So I drove as fast and cleanly as possible, trying to keep up. But although the orange pair stayed in sight, I couldn’t get closer and I finished in 4th position.

So, thanks for organizing Tony!  Cool

Will next race (Mondello) be a championship race or an interlude?

As I understand it SS, the race is part of the overall championship but we all have to drive Minis.

Anyone know where I can find a Mini Mustang?   Roll Eyes

As for this race, as SS has already said, that was a start to finish battle for second spot between Tim and me.

John could probably have won in the 1300 Alfa so I had no aspirations for the hat trick!

Grats also to SS for the great drive in the Cortina.  I think that I noticed on the replay that he had his nose in front of Tim at one point at the start of lap two!

Tim and I were side-by-side through Redgate after the start and thankfully I had the inside line, allowing me to hold on to second spot.

I couldn’t shake him off until he took a bit of grass on the exit of the chicane (I think) but then I did much the same thing at Coppice on the next lap.  That put him back on my rear bumper and when I made a mess of the Old Hairpin he passed me.

At one point we came up to lap Bill at McLeans and there is just no way that Tim should have been able to stay on the track, but he did.  That dropped me back about a second because I had anticipated an accident but I managed to close him down again.

I almost passed him at Redgate on one occasion but in the end it was a mistake from Tim at the Old Hairpin that let me pass him at McLeans.

I still couldn’t shake him off but I think that his tyres were knackered at the end.

Great race.  Just need a few more of you in Mustangs and we could have a good time!

Grats John.

As far as handicapping goes, the normal Tina is a bit slower than pretty well everything else
and at some tracks it's slower than the 1300 Alfa. It is not really going to be anyone's
ride of preference from a purely speed point of view. To make it a more popular choice
perhaps make it so you can keep it for a whole segment rather than get demoted
to the gutless GT if you do well? the "slower" Mustang and Alfas are still pretty quick

Agreed. We raced the Cortina Mann & Works and Alfa 1300 at Zolder with NG a while back and the times were very close, with the Alfa just having the edge:
http://downloads.gamers-crib.com/Sim%20Racing/NGR/Results/2011-11-13%20NoGrip%20SNR%20PnG%20at%202005ZOLDER/index.html

Admittedly it was in the wet, but I think it was just as close when I was practicing in the dry.

I'm tempted to take the Cortina in the next part, but the thought of having to haul the GT round is putting me off somewhat.

btw, I voted 'No' to enforcing a change of make, as it might harm attendance if people can't drive the car they want.

Pretty much what I had in mind Matt. Make it so that the Cortina drivers keep the Works or Mann variants whatever the drivers league position. I still want to check if I can find a car that we could use to deputize for the poor GT. I'll be looking into this asap and let you guys know if I come up with any likely contenders.

Yes it's still a championship round designed to upset Clive and as it's in Ireland the chances for a wet race are quite high
