btw, I voted 'No' to enforcing a change of make, as it might harm attendance if people can't drive the car they want.

Jolly good!

I would expect a unanimous decision from "twelve good men and true" to put me in an Alfa!

Unofficial LapChart

Gutted to have missed a nice Cortina race.
Does anybody know (out of experience) if those raceframes are any good for preventing back problems (apart from training)?
Are they worth the investment?
Any help much appreciated.

Be well soon Alex!
Thanks SuperSwift  thumbup1

Thanks for the Lap Chart Alex.

I think that the race frame transfers the pain to the wallet and having spent so much you dare not admit that you have any back pain at all!

Alex, there's a weekend deal right now at gamediscounter.com (a Dutch company) on a Playseat Evolution.

Alternatively, I use a Pleiseat from Pleifactory.com that I've got for my birthday last year Cheesy
It supports my back really well and I really can recommend it if it has to fit in with your living room furniture. Keeps my GF happy at the same time Wink

Do you get a bad back driving a real car for long periods? (Assuming you drive, of course!)
If you find driving a car doesn't give you a bad back, then definitely go for it. I did briefly use an office chair when I started sim racing and it didn't feel right, the posture was all wrong and I found myself either sitting too upright or slouching. Now I have a race frame that has almost the same seating position as my car, I can do long races without a problem.

a race frame has essentially a bucket/sports seat that you find in most street performance cars so yes you get good back support from them. I find it keeps my back nice and straight as you can press yourself into it and not end up slouched over your wheel. I have Recaro Pole positions in my road car and a 'playseat' race frame, so speak from experience  Smiley

Sloughing over the wheel sounds very familiar. I have to remember to 'straighten' myself once in a while  Undecided
Normal (commute) driving isn't a problem (1,5 hour a day) so I think I will following your advice.

The gamediscounter thingie sounds good so I go for that! Thanks SuperSwift!!

Also many thanks for your input John, MJ and Clive. Very much appreciated.

(now off to spend a load of money and figuring out how to tell the wife  Grin )
