edit: just saw that you are allowed to use the 1275  Cool

You'd better watch out, you're catching my problem - failing to read all of the race calling notice. Is that a language problem or like me old age.  wheelchair devil  See you tonight on track. rockon

Does that mean that you will be still faster with the 1275 and you just used the 970?
I'm at 1.13.9 in the 970 at the moment.

I'll do this one like you did on the Nordschleife this Monday - just for fun  Wink - because there 's not much
time left for further practice tonight. At first on Thursdays comes sports after work  Roll Eyes (have to do something
for my intervertebral discs on a regular basis after an operation in 1997  Wink  )

Missed the start completely ..... I was looking at the pit-exit lights wacko
I got back in the race though, caught up with Mark pretty fast but but pushed too hard trying to pass. I unfortunately 'bullied' Mark off the track and naturally had to wait for him to pass me.
We were both set back a lot as other drivers were passing. I got real angry with myself and lost interest.

I'm sorry I ruined your race Mark  Sad

New PB qualifying, also missed the start.  After that OK for about 4 laps then started missing corner lines, took a few laps to sort.  Then put in a very satisfying spell to the end.  Put in a number of PBs chasing down Tony eventually passing him and pulling away.  A good nights fun.

Thanks for the lovely track/car combo and the racing competition.    thumbup1 Hope to see you all Monday in that lovely BMW 2002Tii S.  rockon

Unofficial LapChart

Enjoyable race. Qually was a bit frustrating because I was overdriving the Mini thinking Poweerrrrrr would get the Mini go faster  Undecided
For the race I calmed down a bit but could not see the starting lights from the back.
Then I just went after I saw some cars moving and Eifel (?) was still stuck on the grid... Grin
After some skirmishes with the usual suspects (Eifel, Bill, Tony) I entered no man's land.
Still enjoyed the racing because the track reminds me of a go-kart circuit and getting the flows right through the corners was good stuff.

Thanks to all who showed up for a great race.

I trust that your new seat performed well.

Yep but that said it isn't _the_ solution for backpain. Personally it prevents me to sit in a position that stresses my back. The seat supports the back also nicely.. but I am fully aware that it is a lot of money to spend for a couple of hours behind the computer...

Stig

to be honest i was more disapointed you dropped back and retired after it  Sad The contact itself was just a racing incident, you got up the inside of me and we came together as both tried to share the same bit of tarmac, dont blame you at all. I actually found the minis to have a real blind spot on the left and right rear quarters, prob due to the short length of the cars. You should have stuck with it Stig as think we could have had a race long fight whilst battling our way back up through the grid...like i did!  Smiley

What a cracking qually and race that was! These minis are great and as others mention, its just like kart racing, trying to keep the momentum up, took me back to my enduro-kart days  Smiley I was really ringing the cars neck and the engine and tyres took some real punishment. It actually felt the most 'physical' race ive had in a while. Great fun.  Cool

Got a great start off the line and rocketed up the inside between stig and Ade, finding myself 2nd behind uber-pilot John for the first few laps. Ade was snapping at my heels and i buckled under pressure allowing him through. In the confusions about fuel i had forgotten to put some meds on the front and my softs were cooking after 5 laps!! Then battled Stig for a few laps until our coming together, where we alas dropped to 6th & 7th  Sad But then chased very hard after the front group and after some excellent close quarter battles with SuperSwift, Muttram and Clive, got myself back into 3rd place, albeit now about 15 secs behind Ade, and thats where i finished.
Great adrenaline action racing, and i concede that only my extra bhp got me past Muttram and Clive in the end as they fought like tigers for each place    Still, thats payback for being stuck behind two faster cars last week  Wink

Qualied 3rd, finished 3rd and got 2nd fastest race lap  Shocked well happy with that, a good nights work  thumbup2

Turned up last moment (sorry ‘bout that) and had a great start due to you guys sleeping Cheesy  After two corners, I found myself from 8th to 4th position with some serious hot competition on my rear bumper!
For some reason I couldn’t use my practice car for the race and took the white 970S instead. That one didn’t have an interior rear-view mirror?!? So sorry about the misjudgments I made in close battles…
The Clive/Mr Muttram combo that was behind me, both made a pass during the next few laps and I tried to follow but couldn’t gain back places.
I also found out during the race that my fuel load wouldn’t be sufficient to finish, so when I had a 39 sec lead on the next competitor around lap 25, I made a quick stop & splash and could happily return on track in the same position:-) and finally finished 6th.
The mini is an interesting drive and I bet it’s a great experience in real life! But for me I always had the impression I drove too “square” and may need some more practice to get a better flow trough the corners.

Thanks everybody for showing up and the great battles, see you next one!

Wink Here's my report from the back of the field:

With the help of Bill's setup (thank you again, Bill) and improving knowledge of the track during practice
I was able to register a new pb of 1.08.950 in quali which was very satisfying for me in the 970 - the more
as I was still testing the "Yellow Spot" tyres instead of the "Red Spot" ones and the front left "Yellow" was
already in deep red after some laps.

After my usual bad start - I couldn't see any red or green lights neither - first half of the race was acceptable
and funny realizing another new pb of 1.08.255 which made me again really happy.
Unfortunately this time there was no intensive battle between Alex, Bill, Tony and me, which I had hoped for  Sad
as the P&G minis were really fun to drive here (feeling very much better than in GTL).
Nevertheless I wasn't able to close up to Alex - the more because I made some slight careless mistakes.
Around lap 15 I realized that I possibly would ran out of fuel - fueled up for 33 laps, which was quite realistic ,
but obviously didn't consider that on this track you don't need to use the fourth gear, so fuel consumption would
probably be higher as scheduled and would reach only for about 31 laps or so.
So I slowed down, let me lap by the leader another 3 times and could barely finish.
Maybe it would have been a better decision to pit in and refuel although the result would have been the same:
last place but in race pace with more fun - but I cannot remember ever having pitted for refueling in P & G.
Have to check that out offline for the next time.

Thanks Alex for the lapchart - very much appreciated  I Am Not Worthy

See you next week guys

Challenging track, fun one though. My thanks to Mark for keeping Ade behind long enough for me to build a gap Grin

Yes, it's all about carrying speed on a track like this, especially in the Mini. Keep it as smooth as possible, no sudden movements (on the wheel and the pedals), let it 'lean' into the corners slowly, don't let the back end slide too much, etc  Smiley

Thankfully we can have more than three dead rat power next race!

You can add me to the list of people gazing at the pit lights when the race started.

Grats to John, Ade and MJ

File this under "Teaching Grandmother to suck eggs"

If you can't see the pit lights watch out for the race timer to start at top right of screen (providing of course that you have this turned on  Roll Eyes)

Thanks Granny.

I do watch the timer when I can't see anything.  The problem comes when you are staring intently at the wrong lights!
