Dang?  You going to night school to learn Mustang language MJ?

I messed up the start because I was late to the grid, having tried to get a bit more than 50% engine life.  The lights changed to green as my car touched down and I had my work cut out not to fall too far back through the grid.

Thankfully the Mustang grunt took me past John and then I fluked a pass on Solmyr that was the making of my race!  I wasn't actually trying to pass, just not hit him!

From then on I did my best to keep Geoffers honest and many thanks to John for keeping Sol off my back.  LOL
My only chance to win was to get in front of Geoffers early and my poor start messed that up completely!

Into the last quater of the race my tyres were gone and according to XD my front left was on the rims as I finished.

Grats Geoffers.

I was happy to get back the 2nd laptime in qualif.

Then my start wasn't as bad as usually, but after that i did too carefully at the straight line braking... I saw Clive pass on my right like a rocket !

Then i pass the whole race or almost in a bad driving way, problems with my downshifting and braking style, and it became even worse when John began to pressure me and i had tires in bad health... during about 30 laps ! Smiley The Tina/Stang battle kept its promises : He was faster in the last part of the track (particularly the last turn), and i was faster in the straight lines... It was a fair nervous war.

Congrats to Geoffers and Clive, and thanks to all !

Ah, that explains how I managed to get to the first corner in front, I was expecting to have two Mustangs blast past me off the line.
Was really surprised how big a lead I built on the first lap, but then went to sleep a bit for a couple of laps & Clive closed the gap. Once I had got into the groove I kept the gap steady & as the Mustang tyres wore succeeded in pulling away. Ran the softest tyres on the Alfa & they lost grip from about half-distance so laptimes dropped off by about 0.5s+ per lap.

Congrats to Clive & Sol clap. Not a bad turnout either. thumbup1

Unofficial LapChart

What a race! 40 minutes of non-stop action!
Hope I got out of the way fast enough for the "slightly faster cars" but had my hands full even at the back end of the grid  Grin
... and all with only a slight dent in my Cortina. Good stuff.

I tried a stupid move on Alex and ended up with nothing but a damaged car which soon became undriveable so quit out. Have fun guys.
Pity. We had a good fight for quite some laps. Tried to give you some room in the esses by running over the curb but that didn't help I guess  Huh

Good turnout.

ps. Pieter, zou jij het land kunnen invullen in jouw profiel? Alvast bedankt.

@ John : Watching the replay, i saw that i didn't let you enough room at a moment near the end of the race : you had put your nose along my back, and i didn't see it. As it's sometimes difficult to hear a Tina engine when we have a V8 Ford block 1 meter from our ears, i didn't spot your position by the sound neither. Sorry for that.

@ AlexvV : For me, there was no problem at all. Smiley

Thanks for giving me the space.  As I said earlier, I wasn't trying to pass, just not hit you.

No problem, Sol. It was unfortunate for me that the track wasn't quite wide enough for two cars at the only place the Cortina was faster! Good fun, nevertheless  thumbup1
