Unfortunately, i can't participate in this event (and in previous one as well) because of UK time change. Now with UK time = GMT+0 the race starts 01:30am of my local time instead of 00:30am. That's too late for me. That was very interesting series, thank you all Smiley

Quote
On February 8, 2011, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev announced the cancellation of DST in Russia. An hour was added in March 2011 for the last time, and clocks will not move back again in the fall. It may be noted that after this reform many Russian cities have a standard time two hours more than would be suggested by their locations.

Wheel has gone F.U.B.A.R.  It is unlikely that I will be able to take part.  I have no idea when I will be able to fix it (if at all) or get a replacement.    taz cursing censored thumbdown

Good race despite the poor attendance. I know there is always drop off as a season comes to the end but the iRacing ones seem to have worse drop off than the GTR2 ones ever did. Anyway, you have to make the most of what you're given so 5 HPDs and 4 GTs set off into the Florida sunshine.

An interesting combination saw the Ford GTs actually faster than the HPDs in a straight line, but once again terrible into the braking zones and through the corners. I had the low downforce setup on the HPD and I could do 169mph in a straight line just before braking for T1. In a slipstream of a GT I was heading over 170mph, but I heard the fastest GTs were doing 178mph! Anyway, made it interesting.

Qualified 4th of 5 so wasn't expecting much. Started on a full tank and had calculated how much I needed to put in at each stop. The first stint saw all but Baz pass pole sitter Peter. He seem to have chosen a higher downforce setup than at least James and me and that made it relatively easy to pass whereas Dimitry had to make a bold move into the fast chicane.

So up to 3rd and after Dmitry made a mistake somewhere I was past him (just). He then sat on my tail for ages, but with his higher downforce setup he was unable to keep up with me on the straights even in a slipstream and his advantage through the corners wasn't enough to seem him make a move. That was until I made a mistake and then outbraked myself to run off onto the grass and see him through.

At the first round of pit stops I seem to make back 7 or 8 seconds on Dimitry though and I was in 2nd again (with James leading). I pushed hard to try and make sure Dimitry wasn't close enough to get any slipstream and come the 2nd pit stop I again gained a lot of time on him and exited about 20 seconds up the road. I put in 2 more laps of fuel in the 2nd stop than I had calculated as it was looking close and I'm glad I did because I had the 2 lap warning on the last lap.

Having chased James hard in the 3rd stint he spun off and I took the lead. I had one moment where I went too deep into T1 losing me about 4 seconds but I still had a comfortable margin to stroke it home for an unexpected win.

Thanks to the GTs that were very kind on the straights and well done Andy for the win in GT class.

Full results here.

Just like to say well done to Simon for winning the HPD race.

Well done to Rikw for taking the overall title for the HPD'S

And well done to Jasper for taking the GT40 Class win.

As for the Last race at Daytona, there was just the 4 of us GT drivers, Sadly Raimo hit a tyre wall in the first few laps followed by Peter
and they both damaged there cars, i know Ramio's was crabbing and he had to go for repairs........so unless me or Fulvio messed up then there race was over.
Fulvio did not mess up and he was right behind me lap after lap until the end.

I had something to race for as i could take 2nd in the over all standings and this is what i did,
So i am happy........i am even more happy that the fast lads took some time out to make me look good in the standings.

I am happy for Team Tortoise as i got a 2nd over all and Pete got a 3rd over all.

In the Team Rankings i got a 2nd and Pete got a 5th for our 2 man team  Tongue

The Tortoises got somewhere just by showing up to the races.

Thank you ALL for the clean races.

Hope i didnt get in the way to often, but the FORD GT40 has a mind of its own....and hold your line is not as easy as it sounds  Shocked

Thanks again.
