Moderator's Report

Dave Rainier and Phil Thornton again took the top two steps of the podium, the Frenchman getting the win this time. They were joined by Martin Hunt, making it a great team result for Antipasti.

There were plenty of contenders for the top three places but this race was another example of the maxim, "To finish first, first you must finish".

Server replay time: 0h01m07s

Hendy spins at T2A and Nigel has no choice but to run into him. Hendy recovers but Nigel is left upside down and is then hit by Paul.

Server replay time: 0h08m47s

Nigel takes a stop and go for his lap one reset, however he stops four laps after the incident took place. Please note all stop and go penalties should be taken within two laps of a reset.

Server replay time: 0h10m48s

Billy has let Martin past on the back straight and resumes the racing line just as a fast closing Fran tries to lap him. Billy moves very slightly left towards Fran and contact occurs. In the aftermath Dave Curtis runs into Billy.

Server replay time: 0h12m29s

Billy slows on the back straight to let Fabio past, unfortunately neither car quite gives the other enough room and contact is made. Dave Curtis reprises his role from the previous lap and runs into Billy for a second time. As an encore Bernie, Hendy, Paul Markey and Fran all get involved too.

Server replay time: 0h26m12s

Phil follows Billy out of Moss and on to the back straight. Billy knows he is about to be lapped and backs off to help Phil, who is caught out somewhat. Although he manages to slow down a little, Phil hits the back of Billy and send him off track on the left.

Honed to its usual perfection , my BRM allowed me to fullfill my dream of being lapped at least twice by the entire field (well OK bar one)    Undecided

Lessons learned from this outing , either A, the driver or B, his mechanics are crap (draw your own conclusions ) or could it have been one black pudding to many for tea  Roll Eyes whatever the cause it was a bad day

for the soggy bums,  though we are getting more consistant  Embarrassed

Not the entire field Bernie; only the entire field who were still on the grey bit.

Keep up the good work.  Glad to see that you and Mike are upholding the honour.

PS  What the hell were you doing in a BRM at Mosport?  Do-it-yourself dentisty would be better!

Pssssst a Honda goes well at Mosport, and I know a nice lady who will let you borrow one if you just make a small change to your lifestyle  shifty winkiss

I doubt even "she" could make that much difference to my lifestyle atm fundishi or not  Cheesy

I'm with you Phil, my PB is 1:23.198 round Mosport, but couldn't get within a bulls roar of it in Qually.
My PB in the Fez is 1:23.10 (set on 9/11/2003) and my outright PB is 1:22.42 (set in a Lotus on 26/07/2004) but I haven't been able to get near those times in years Sad .  Those times compare with my qually lap of 1:24.49 and my fastest lap of 1:23.70 (thanks to some pressure from Martin Wink ).  So I'm getting there but more praccy is required!!!!

I'll need to start reproducing by best form if I'm going to keep the pressure on Mr Rainier!  He is quick AND steady Shocked

I must admit I was considering getting BRM for this race... seemed the only car that wouldnt prefer the wast green plains over the convolted, bumpy, greased, covered with engine parts, adventuring tyres and blood splatters from overrun spectators and flagmans surface of the track...Of course, truyng the eagle with my new, unconventional, untested and wrong geared setup changed my mind. Got a pole time not far from my pb (1.22.400) and there was brabham behind me... brabhams are too twitchy to survive long. My mouse was too twitchy too. Well, I survived long enough. I guess that is good thing... And didnt crash into anyone, which is even better thing...

I suppose a finish has to be regarded as something of an achievement on this occasion although I lost track of the number of times I spun off starting on L1. I put it down to spending too much time on Dirt3 between races. Encounters with the barriers seemed to have a cumulative effect when the steering developed a mind of its own despite there being no visible damage and I had to ShiftR.

Knowing that made me feel rather unwell too  Embarrassed

Regards PB's my old rank times are way out of reach these days except a few like the BRM which I always avoided like the plague unless I was physically forced into the cockpit  , Must say having tried it a few times recently I find its quite a nice car to drive but requires a different technique (one that completely aludes me ) to get any speed out of the thing .

One other thing ,  I discovered its fuel consumption is pretty good , having "tanked up" for the race distance I was suprised to find I still had 16 laps worth of fuel at the finish , would have thought the opposite as in R/L this was a gas guzzeler . Maybe because i'm not pressing the gas pedal hard enough ?  Same can be said for the reliability , in the simm its good but again in R/L it left bits of its internals and crank case spread around the tracks of the world. It took a Lotus chassis plus the skills of Jimmy Clark to gain the only GP victory  Smiley

Raoni is driving with keyboard... Sven is driving with gamepad, which is technicly a keyboard with more comfortably placed buttons. Just look at some practice how they steer from cockpit... That is MUCH harder.

About gpl cars, I have noticed i cant drive them equally well all the time... I have to be in mood for them so to speak. It took me alot of "tuning" to the cooper to get negative monster, and BRM is simply slow... They probably arent too true to the originals too... Honda and eagle are way too tough, and brabham suspension is way too fragile. Cooper and Lotus seem allright tho, and ferrari feels wery hard to get in tune with...

For me realism is the key.  So I always drive in cockpit view with a FF steering wheel.  IMHO it wouldn't be anywhere near as much fun any other way.  I've had several steering wheels all with paddle or sequential shifts until I got my G25.  It took me a while to pluck up the courage to use the H shifter in league races but this is my second season using it and I've just about got the hang of it.  It is much harder to drive and my times are slower (not to mention the odd, thankfully less frequent these days, shifts from 4th to 1st which results in the inevitable spin) but it is so much more realistic.

I've just had an idea that might make things even more authentic.  I wonder how hard it would be to convert a pair of 1960s goggles like these into 3D glasses!  Not sure I want to pull apart a new set of Nvidia 3D glasses but if anyone has stood on a set and broken them it might be fun to try LOL.

Nice idea, and probably more comfortable than the pair I use offline.  But do Lcd's still work when dismembered?  The particular ones shown have 4 facets, so you'd need 2 sets of stereo running together. Hmm . . . not sure how quad vision works - could be good.  If it allows 4 dimensions, you could predict accidents ahead of time, and gain an unfair advantage. laugh

eDimensional produce a set of 3D gaming glasses for a mere £80. I tried a pair at a Flight Sim convention a few years ago but wasn't too impressed.
