That was looking fantastic until about lap 16 - then John's evil little Skateboard started gaining on me because my tyres were giving up for some strange reason  Huh

He passed me on lap 19 just as things were getting really interesting in my car, just in time for me to then pit on the following lap - 30 Gallons and 2 tyres seemed to take an eternity!  Cheesy
Rejoined just in time to be lapped (  Roll Eyes ) and soldiered on, climbing back upto about 3rd I think it was before my final stop on lap 40.
Same again, 30 Gals and the rear tyres - my fatal mistake - continued on and was positioned well with only John and the Ford Brothers in front.
Then disaster as my left front blew out while braking into the right hander before St Marys, I flew off into the wall and rejoined still just ahead of Mat. Naturally I took Lavant in the kitty litter as I could no longer turn right handing him 4th  Sad

Wrestled the car back to the line which I crossed while making lots of smoke and sparks  ninja

Great race - I particularily enjoyed the early stages where I had a working car and was battling with Geoffers and Fulvio after not spotting the startlights in time  Embarrassed

Oh, and not that it's over important but I had Firestones rather than the GoodYears the results claim  Smiley

Thx for organizing the race, it was a good effort for my back one hour and half with GT40  Grin
As said Geoffers, once you get used to it you enjoy the drive Smiley
I had a steady pace with only a couple of wide, one at the beginnig trying to keep in view with the storming Tim's Vette and toward the end trying to catch John that had 10 sec. lead gap.
I did a long first stint with full fuel till 38th lap and the tires were really worn and had some hairy moments.
Sorry Tim for the bad lapping at St.Mary, but I was desperately trying to keep it on track after a hot approch at Fordwater  angel
Geoffers and me had GoodYear too.  Wink
Ciao and Happy New Year all!

Congratulations to our winners John and Fulvio.

My race was a bit of a let down, as all of the people that I would have battled with were struck down by various ailments.

So after the first stint I just had to motor around on my own.  I think that I should have changed my front tyres at the second stop instead of doing the complete race on the one set.  The rears were fine but the fronts were costing me about a second a lap towards the end, plus a couple of offs.  I could still do the first half of the lap in a reasonable time but from Lavant onwards I was slow.  It didn’t feel any different but the stopwatch doesn’t lie.

I made a good start by looking at the HUD rather than searching for the lights, which I have never seen at Goodwood in quite a number of races.  However, the heavy metal came thundering past on the straight as my first corner was hampered by taking a wide line to ensure that I didn’t knock John off.

After that I had to climb back past a SuperSwift in his Jag and MJ’s Daytona, which took quite a while and allowed Tudor to join the fray.

Thanks to Tony for organising the event and Happy New Year to all.

Hope to see you all at the first round of the 2012 Season.

Sorry to read there were various problems that spoilt last night's turn out and race, bad luck Tony and Mark with lost connections.  Managed to get under 1:30 in qualifying and the first couple of laps were OK when I was "racing" but went off and clouted a bank then on the next lap over did it and really hit those solid straw bales.  This ruined suspension and I limped to pits for repairs, which I had to repeat at second pit stop.

In between spent some time racing Special KS on track, initially 1 lap down and then 2 laps down after 2nd pit stop.  Got onto same lap when he pitted and much to my surprise saw his DNF whilst I was on my last race lap - if you could have limped over the line you'd have had my finishing place.

Happy New Year folks, see y'all on the track next year.

Quite surprised to finish ahead of the GT40s here! I didn't think I'd be in with much of a chance once it became clear that they would only be stopping once, but I guess they're thirsty beasts and my little roller skate of a car didn't drink much - the second stop splash & dash only took a few seconds and I made it out with enough of a gap to not be caught at the end of any straights by Fulvio. I didn't do myself any favours at the first stop though, I was planning on changing the fronts but actually changed the rears instead! Thought about doing a short middle stint and changing the fronts at the next stop, but when I saw how close Fulvio was I decided to tough it out, as even if I'd have been faster there would have been no way past - those monsters just disappeared on the way out of every corner!

Grats to Geoffers & Fulvio for the poduim thumbup1

Yeh, although the GT40 only needed one stop, it took ages, John went past twice while I was stopped. Admittedly I wasted 10s or so as I forgot you need to turn the engine off before the refuelling starts! Had good fun in the GT40 though, wasn't too bad to drive once you got used to it. Can't believe the real car had such restriction on setup adjustment, unadjustable front camber seems totally wrong & I think is why the car understeers so badly.

Congrats to John & Fulvio.  clap clap
