Moderator's Report

The Mexico racetrack has its T1 drama in every race I did here.
Also in your race there was big drama!

I have to remind you that there are special penalties for the full moderated RED ZONE.
If you are asked for a client replay to submit with your incident report, it could be helpfull if there was eg warp involved!

Server replay time: 0h01m07s

Tristan Bot - Joe Shaw

Tristan has better start on the left side and is about 3 meters in front as they both enter the turn in point for T1.
He pulls to the right but understands parts of a second too late that Joe is still there, he tries to escape a collision by steering to the left, but just a split of a second after that he has contact with Joe and spins.
Joe kept his line on the right side and tried also to avoid a crash by lifting the throttle, luckily he could continue his race unharmed.

"In a corner, after a legitimate overtaking attempt the cars end up side by side. One driver moves over instead of staying on their own side of the track. Contact is made. Penalty for driver that moves over."

Server replay time: 0h20m24s

Alex vs Mark Barresi

Alex follows Mark on the straight and gets overlap by the tow. Mark leaves enough room on the right side, but Alex looses control and slides sideways into Mark.
Unfortunately both cars are out of the race...

  • Alex Barresiwarning — Marginal Side by Side contact: Warning

WELCOME TO THE UKGPL Season 22 - Pro Trophy

For the second round we go to Mexico City, the well known Papy track.

This race is at the historic 2.747-mile race track "Autódromo Hermanos Rodriguez" in Mexico City,
named for the famous racing drivers Ricardo and Pedro Rodríguez.
This track first hosted F1 in 1962 when Ricardo was killed in practice for the non-championship event.
Despite this inauspicious start the course was a staple of the F1 championship between 1963 and 1970.

Drivers beginning season 22 with this race have a free car choice!
All others have to keep their chosen car for the rest of the season,
they will only be allowed to swap chassis in exceptional circumstances and only with the approval of the moderator.
Driver lists can be found on the Pro Trophy championship standings page.
Please check the Season 22 pages for details regarding rules!

There will be full moderation of lap one Red Zone and reported incidents for the rest of the race.
Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.

The Red Zone is from start up to the end of the esses (turn 13) on the straight before Peralta.

Full time drivers have priority access to the server until 21.00 UK time.

Please restrict chat to a minimum,

....And bang goes the engine with 9 to go.

Had a lot on my plate today and a splitting headache, but i love GPL so thought i'd attend and see how i got on.

Qualified at the back, 4 seconds of the pole. Made some foolish set up alterations to be very old Nov setup and paid the price in the race. After some good initial dicing, the tyres started overheating all over the place duem to my untested set up changes. That combined with a last minute Diff change made the car very unstable. I started leaking positons as the car the drifted, unsteered and snap over steered.

The engine eventually blew up with 9 to go.

Some people were cutting the cones in the pits which made me think not everyone was using the Mexico multi season graphical update. No harm in that, but you should try it. It makes the track look great. Head over the SRMZ for a look.  Wink

Anyway, thats that one out the way. Not a fan really.  Smiley

What cones?!
I guess I don't have the update  Huh

Anyway, had a minor slide/half spin early in the race after starting way back (Spent most of qually in race trim so didn't really get any fast laps in) and had to fight my way back up through the order from right near the back.

I caught Clutch, Juha and Fulvio (I think) who were having a bit of a bash at the time - after some work and about 2 laps I managed to pass them and press on. The majority of the mid-part of the race was very lonely for me, as I spent it watching my pit board every 2 minutes and trying to concentrate on catching Al and Natan who were some way ahead and also having a scrap.
It seemed to take forever but I eventually caught them with about 5 to go - Natan then convieniently span exiting the hairpin letting Al through, I couldn't make a safe pass so hung back.
My patience was rewarded as Natan made an error and ran wide a short while later letting me through.

3 laps to go now and I was just on the end of Al's slipstream, fast forward to the penultimate lap and I passed him in an unusual spot (on the run to the turn 4/5 chicane before the hairpin) before defending into the hairpin itself.
After that I managed to pull away smoothly - I think I'd managed to look after my tyres better than Al as he seemed to be struggling for traction far more than me. Although that may also be because I was running longer gears than him through the twisty sections  Wink

Nice to finish 6th after such a poor qualifying result for me - I really must start practicing more for these races now the competition has raised so much (Damn free choice of chassis  Tongue) - that said I'm really enjoying the midfield fight  Grin

Well done to all the podium and finishers  angel

Here is my little story from the race at El Mexico ,

Qualified third place second for MagicArsouille and first place for beefpie  , thought .... that's not bad because midfield is a bit tricky to be at for the first turn .
Thinking about that ( the first turn ) we placed or self on the grid and ..... bang of we where .
Comming to the first turn i saw in front of me what i thought a little bang bang between MagicArsouille and beefpie and i said................ noooooooooooooooo and one second later i said......... yeeeeeeeeeeees  Tongue , beefpie could
continue with his race but Magic stood still so i took the second place .
Beefpie was to fast for me and i couldn't follow him , i was also a little bit afraid to overheat my tyres so i found myself a good rhythm .
The third place was at that moment for Goran  he stayed behind me at 8/10 seconds until i passed at one moment the pitbord and didn't saw Goran's name anymore but instead it was Magic who took third place .
There where about 10 laps to go for me and Magic was coming closer but not fast enough to catch me befor the race was done .
He he never thought i could finnish this race but i did it  laugh
First a big thanks for for the guy's who provide us with the server and a big congrats for beefpie for winning the race , also congrats for the drivers who ended/full the race at Mexico .
greets svenvangent

Disaster Ferrari, furious controversy to internal team.
The Commander is still around in pit lane handling a shotgun, no trace of the drivers ...

I witnessed the Baressi Brothers Team Tango at T1 and I thought to myself.."there are going to be some very interesting words spoken between those two drivers hehehehehehe Shocked)!"

Grats to Joe for a taking the Honda to a well dominating win ( just a shame he was not wearing a  Waza fundoshi  Undecided)

I had a poor start and got passed by Al off the grid. I regained the place a couple of laps later and set off after the leading bunch.
I steadily caught the Baressi Ferraris who were running in team formation, but because there were two of them running close together i could not find a way past until they did their formation exit. By then I had lost too much ground to the leading cars and although I eventually caught and passed Goran to get me up to 3rd place, I lost the bottom step of the podium when a recovering Tristan cam flying up through the field to steal that from me.

Still not a bad result as I was not feeling too confident about this race. Thanks to all who I diced with for some great racing.

I can't compete with anyone no more with my BT11  :'(
Even Juha in his BT7 got rid of me, I want a Lotus  Grin
Honestly I didn't pay attention to the rule before picking the BT11 at first race, I think Juha did the same...

Speaking of the devil, Juha was lost by the server at last but one lap, but he finished the race ahead of me. Can he have his position?

Tom,

I may have misspelt the password - it is entirely possible because unlike you I can't see it on the forum  Grin

I did look up the password on the Events list in LM2 and it DEFINITELY said 'Aztek'....
