All members welcome.

Grid/server capacity: 28

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (22 laps)

Track: Silverstone 1970 GP Circuit Download this

Cars allowed: Any car, once only, from here The real mod 1.0:
http://downloads.gamers-crib.com/Sim%20Racing/GTL/Mods/RealMod/RealMod10.exe or here http://www.gamefront.com/files/21168781/RealMod10_exe

and last update (to ver 1.3):
http://downloads.gamers-crib.com/Sim%20Racing/GTL/Mods/RealMod/RealMod13update.exe or here http://www.gamefront.com/files/21168219/RealMod13update_exe

It's best if you create a standalone GTL install (copy your GTL to a temp folder, rename it e.g. REAL GTL, then copy back to your usual directory. Path the install to the new REAL GTL you have just created).  Install ver 1.0 first then update with the ver 1.3 install. Run the sim and purchase the cars.
We will not be able to use any skin packs with this mod.

Drivers are reminded that the maximum number of drives in any car is One. Check your status here

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk RGTL
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page

Special Notes:  This event is started by a flagman on the right hand side of the circuit. Recommend turning the start countdown on.

Does this differ much to the normal GTL physics?

Ohh I think I miss understood it. I thought it meant than there can only be one driver per car per race. or does it mean that I can choose any car but I can't choose that car again?

That's right, you can drive any car as long as you only drive it once in this series.

My internet connection froze. Really really disappointed, I was fighting with Oliver for second place at the time.

Gotta get that sorted Syd. You were way ahead of Navin and I.

Grats to Hristo and Manteos.Smiley At the start Alfa got a jump on us, but I got the best start out of front row tanks and managed to take P1 at T1. Hristo was soon on me, he had a look at Hangar straight, I was driving with shorter gears so I sacrificed some top speed, but I stayed on the line and in front. Lap or two later though went a bit wide through Abbey so he got through. I tried to stay in touch but he was simply too much faster through Abbey, Syd was close few secs behind so it was fun trying to maintain that gap. Unfortunately after some laps he had that problem with connection, so that was it pretty much, other cars behind were slower, while Hristo was way ahead. Good to score my first podium here. Always fun around 'ol Silverstone. Grin

This was a really fun race and a good one too.

For about 4 or 5 laps I was keeping up with Manteos? but then I think he had NOS hidden in the car as he shot off and I started to fall behind but then when I was starting to catch up with Navin and Tony Manteos spun and I got passed him but then a few laps later he was right back up there again. It was looking like a photo finish with 2 laps to go any of us 4 could have had 3rd but then I spun and the when trying to get going I spun again so I had to make sure that I could just get to the line with no more mistakes as Senyorlobo was catching up with me.

All in all I'm happy with 6th

Great fun chasing Tony the entire way Grin. Also with Manteos and Quicksilver384 getting into the thick of our battle as well. It was an absolute treat to battle The Boss for so long. Excellent close racing Cool. At one point I got side by side with Tony on the back straight to have someone frozen in the middle of the track Shocked which we split perfectly and Tony maintained his position. I could get close but never really had the speed to pass and certainly didn't have any more speed in the Jag. I'm pretty sure you let me through in turn one at one point Tony when Manteos and Quicksilver384 were getting close again but as you could see once I was in front I didn't have any more pace to stay in front Undecided. As a matter of a fact I was probably quicker in overall race lap times just because I had the benefit of your draft Smiley. Just lovely to race so hard with people we can trust and battle tight but leave just enough room here and there so we can all have a blast.  Made my week already Smiley Congrats to Hristo,Oly and Manteos for there respective podys finishes

It was a fantastic race Grin
First race for me in 70 Silverstone layout, so I spent the qualif to remember the right gears for every corner. 3rd position on the grid, with a little mistake in the 3rd sector.
After a great start with the Alfa, I immediately understood that was impossible to keep the position aginast their beasts, but I stupidly tried to pull the braking at the 3rd corner, and the result was a spin.
Restarted last, I gained some position in a couple of laps, and than I started the chase to QS, Navin and Tony. After I passed Qs, I had the chance to pull the braking in that damned corner in the attempt to overtake Tony, but my car spun again in the black hole hidden on the inside line of the 3rd corner. Angry Angry
Never give up! The chase started again! This time QS has fought tooth and nail, but at the 2nd corner he pricked the grass on the inside, and his car lost speed sliding on the 4 wheels. I lifted up the throttle but I couldn't avoid the contact in any way, and I decided to go on. I believed I had no chance to do anything else, but I was a bit disappointed when I saw your car spun. Sad
I catched again Tony and Navin, fighting for the 3rd place, after Syd's disconnection. I was a lot faster in the corners, I could brake later, and the duel with Navin was terribly fun Grin. Meantime Tony was watching the duel creating a small gap between us. At the penultimate lap I passed Navin, and came back again on Tony. At the last corner, I pulled the braking, taking the inside line, passing Tony in the only narrow I had to put the nose of my car side by side with him. I checked the replay, and I assure you I stayed with all the 4 wheels on the tarmac Tony, side by side with a distance of probably less than 10 cm. Watching it again, I can't believe it yet Roll Eyes I will remember this manouvre with the name of "Alonso", instead of "Vettel"  Wink Grin Grin

Grats to Hristo and Oly... unlucky Syd Sad
Thanks everybody for the fun, and specially to Tony, Qs and Navin for the great duels! What a race Shocked  Shocked Shocked

Mr Inconsistent, that's me.  hammer no Put in some good practice and qualifying laps and made a good start and avoided all the problems of lap 1 - 5th I think.  thumbup1 Then it all went to worms, put 2 wheels onto grass through Abbey (?) and lost 3 or 4 places.  Roll Eyes Huh  Had a short battle with Mark, managing to stay ahead only by the brute power/torque of my Falcon against his Abarth.  tank He closed up on each corner and eventually dived down inside into T1, leaning against me for a period causing me to lose control and finally finish up hitting outside bank.  :'(

Took me a while to get back to any rhythm but even then I spent too much time on the grass.  Roll Eyes  I'm just not able to "peddle" cars through corners like most other drivers.  As a result I often have to use one gear lower to stay on track.  Huh On good day if the car/track clicks I find by race day I'm able to go one gear higher - guess it's me age.  wheelchair

That race was unexpectedly epic!

Pulled a good start and was chasing the leading pack with Navin just behind me as we approached T2. Then for the remainder of the race, as the leaders pulled away, Navin and I had some fantastic racing together. Our cars had different characteristics and hence he and I were weaker/stronger at different sections of the circuit. Others (Quicksilver and Manteos) caught Navin and I tried to use those times to try to pull away from him as he was having to defend his position. However as the final laps sped by I was in third place and looking good for my first ever podium.

As I started the final lap with Navin and Manteos well behind me I concentrated on just keeping it on the tarmac and not doing anything stupid. The final right hander beckoned me on.....I could almost hear the champagne corks popping at team HQ.

Then Manteos popped up from nowhere and took 3rd and gave me 4th instead. I was sure that he must off cut the final corner but after watching the replay I can confirm that it was a faultless example of overtaking.

Great fun throughout, more like that one please!
