Moderator's Report

There were no infringements within the red zone on lap 1. Good work chaps, keep it up.

Server replay time: 0h03m00s

After an earlier scenic excursion, Arf^3 chases Dave Smith (wrinklydms) for the remainder of the lap. Whilst negotiating Turn 14 and approaching Turn 15......the hairpin onto the start/finish straight.....Dave gets a little loose and runs wide. Arf^3 is following close and sees an opportunity down the inside to pick up an easy place on his charge back through the field. Dave appears to be slightly out of control in a slide at the point Arf^3 makes his decision to go. Arf^3 achieves 100% overlap, but as it slows, Dave's Porsche bites and turns sharply right, tapping the rear of Arf^3's car quite hard causing him to spin and damaging his engine so it wouldn't rev out. I'm confident Dave knew Arf^3 was there, however fighting for control would have precluded any chance of him knowing what else was happening. Dave would have seen Arf^3's car appear a split second before impact, and being as busy as a one armed paper hanger at the time, he would not have had time to use the look right button to ascertain Arf^3's actual position.
Taking advantage of someone else's mistake can at times put you in a position to become involved.....it's the risk you take. This incident appears to be one of those occasions. I'm sure that had his car been fully under control, Dave would have left room for Arf^3 to come through. As his car was not fully under control, I'm apportioning 50/50 blame in this case, and calling it a Racing Incident.

Season 22 - Porsche Super Cup
Race 3 Sepang, Malaysia

First included in the Formula One World Championship in 1999, the current Malaysian Grand Prix is held at the Sepang International Circuit at Sepang, Malaysia. FIA-sanctioned racing in Malaysia has existed since the 1960s. The 1962-1965 seasons of the original Formula 2 Grand Prix held on the Thomson Road circuit in Singapore is regarded as an earlier precedence of the Malaysian Grand Prix, when Singapore was originally part of the Malaysian federation from 1963 to 1965. After Singapore seceded from the federation in 1965, the Grand Prix continued on until 1973.

Between Singapore's departure from the Malaysian federation and the opening of Sepang Circuit, Malaysia hosted a range of other racing tournaments at Shah Alam's own circuit between 1968 to 1995, including the Tasman Series (1968–1972), Formula Pacific (1973–1974, 1978–1982), Formula Atlantic (1975), Formula Two (1977) and Formula Holden (1995). Now we get to take our howling Porsches around the impressive, Hermann Tilke designed venue. This should offer much in the way of close, door-banging racing to whet the appetite.

Please check the Season 22 pages for details regarding rules and the Porsche Super Cup pages in particular.

Sepang offers a wide asphalt surface that for most corners are more than one racing line, with two long straights that should prove good passing opportunities. Come to think of it, there are many opportunities to pass at this place. Though I will remind everybody that Turn 1 one is the hairpin at the end of the back straight on this track....so take care after the start. Enjoy!

Pay attention to some reference points and in 4 or 5 laps you will remember about each corner.

I felt the same Joe after my first few laps. There are indeed about 3 places where the sequence of corners is very similar to look at, but different to drive Undecided. After my first 10 laps or so I was beginning to recognise the track like Sergio suggests by remembering what buildings or other features were around.

Until you can be sure what lies around the next corner it is impossible to push hard, but this track is quite wide and the Porsche is very forgiving, so you can almost drive this circuit blind and get a reasonable time.

I think perhaps a few pilots could get under 2:10.50 after having seen a couple of ours getting around 2:11.50  Shocked Roll Eyes Tongue

Anyway a very nice track Sepang but it should be not so simple to overtake when pilots are near their max performances because in driven corners certainly it is not possible to overtake and in the other zones after the 2 main straights, we have to push heavy on brakes with little control left.

Untill now, I've seen lap times going about 8 seconds down since my 1st few laps with Axel !!!  Shocked

Who will break the 2:10.00 barrier Huh Shocked Shocked Shocked

I've got to go out Friday afternoon and I doubt I'll be back in time for this race Sad.  So it looks like the Pastit Porsche Team will be down one driver, sorry guys.

Good luck with the race, hope you both manage to finish in the points.

Phil, If you're sure you're going to miss it we could scoop up a reserve driver for the race. If there's a chance you'll be back we can leave your place open....

Arf
OK better go for the reserve.  They'll probably score more points than me anyway Roll Eyes.  Bear in mind I'm classed as an Amateur so I can't be replaced by a Pro driver (only another Amateur or a Novice could step in).
