Well, it seems I ended up attracting all of Al's spare bad luck for the elves in this race
.
I equalled my PB in qually, although helped by a distant tow from one of the Godzilla brothers, but still I knew those couple of tenths I had in my pocket werent going to be enough to brake away from the other frontrunners sitting in my slipstream. So, I focussed more on getting right all my corner exits in the first laps, which worked pretty well until mid way through the race Mark managed to have a good run at me out of the loop, got alongside out of the left hander kink at the end of the straight, and ended up putting in a rather Godzillesque passing move at Big Bend, sliding a bit wide into me and puntiing me into the snow. Not impressed, I set off in hot pursuit now in third, until after a couple of laps I came across the Al/Mark collision aftermath, didnt stomp enough on the brakes and ended up joining the party and bringing one of my wheels as personal gift..Took immediately my stop and go but then fell victim of the WG pit exit, rather ingeniously positioned right at the flat out entry of the esses complex. So, had to wait ages for not one, but two cars to pass by, and it obviously goes without saying they were both Ferraris for good measure
..
When I managed to reel in Cookie's red thing with 4 or 5 laps to go I knew the pass wasnt going to be easy. I was certainly proved right, no matter how closely glued to his tail pipes I managed to stay round the corners, the slipstream effect never kicked in quite soon enough to put in a safe pass in the braking zones. Until with a couple of laps to go, while trying to sit as close as possible to the Ferrari through the initial esses, I thought well capping the evening with a trademark silly clipping move of the hay bales at the start of the straight. I really didnt feel like going through the pit exit traffic jam again, so at that point I bailed out..
Grats to Al who kept the elf honour high. But the Santas won, so hope the fat man in red is finally happy this year
.
Merry Christmas guys, thanks for the racing!
