Moderator's Report

There were no infringements within the red zone on lap 1. Good work chaps, keep it up.

Server replay time: 0h03m00s

After an earlier scenic excursion, Arf^3 chases Dave Smith (wrinklydms) for the remainder of the lap. Whilst negotiating Turn 14 and approaching Turn 15......the hairpin onto the start/finish straight.....Dave gets a little loose and runs wide. Arf^3 is following close and sees an opportunity down the inside to pick up an easy place on his charge back through the field. Dave appears to be slightly out of control in a slide at the point Arf^3 makes his decision to go. Arf^3 achieves 100% overlap, but as it slows, Dave's Porsche bites and turns sharply right, tapping the rear of Arf^3's car quite hard causing him to spin and damaging his engine so it wouldn't rev out. I'm confident Dave knew Arf^3 was there, however fighting for control would have precluded any chance of him knowing what else was happening. Dave would have seen Arf^3's car appear a split second before impact, and being as busy as a one armed paper hanger at the time, he would not have had time to use the look right button to ascertain Arf^3's actual position.
Taking advantage of someone else's mistake can at times put you in a position to become involved.....it's the risk you take. This incident appears to be one of those occasions. I'm sure that had his car been fully under control, Dave would have left room for Arf^3 to come through. As his car was not fully under control, I'm apportioning 50/50 blame in this case, and calling it a Racing Incident.

I'm sorry Arf-Arf, you are quite right, I slid wide and tried to recover without realising you would dive for the inside, must be aware of that, especially if a faster driver is catching me.Thank you for your help before the race, and your consideration for my poor driving .I must also go and apologise to Zampedri for a similar accident later, when the situation was reversed.
cheers David

An unfortunate incident Dave, but that is racing and we have all made plenty of errors, especially to begin with.  You qualified well so had good speed.  It is often difficult to scale it back in the race, especially if you are involved in close battles.  I managed to ease back in this race but then I was never really wheel to wheel with anyone and when Roberto retired I decided to 'bring it home' and almost straight away ran off the track!!

My race was quiet for the most part.  Second was all I could hope for...barring accidents/mechanicals.  My set-up was okay but I was wrong to change gearing before the race without trying it  Shocked which made some corner exits rather steady, my higher gears were too widely spaced.

I managed to stay somewhat in touch with Roberto, but he was faster and would pull away but also made a few mistakes which allowed me to close back up.  After viewing the replay I was definitely watching my revs more than most others, especially Roberto (did your engine let go?) and perhaps this was overly cautious.  I was no match at all for Tom so there was little point in working my car harder.  Congrats again to Tom, a stunning performance lapping consistently fast and even bettering your pole time.

Bob.

I am hoping that I can get sorted over Xmas so that I can join in with Mini and help my team-mates out. Well done to Bob for his nice podium and Dave on making it!

I was unable to save a replay of our race for obvious reasons  Undecided   It really was a downer, after finally getting into a racing groove on this surprisingly difficult to learn circuit. After some serious swapping of places, orientations and directions in the first few laps I found myself running in a lonely 2nd spot, but I was more than happy with that Roll Eyes

It seems I might owe Ronnie an apology?. From your post I am assuming that there was some contact between us? The only bit I can remember where we were close was into T1, when I braked much later than you did and seem to recall getting very close to your rear end just before you "appeared" to lose the back end and I dived through. Now I have a feeling it might have been some warp contact because I was so close...sorry Undecided.  Nothing registered on the FF from my end, but that does not make me innocent( well maybe not guilty either Wink )

As for the mass disco, we went through a few races last season where there were similar problems, and there was a great deal of discussion about possible reasons but no definitive answer. Could it be the same mystery problem again?

Hi Ronnie ,

Sorry too , off course no real hard feelings.
Just temporarily displeasure at that moment .

Still my reservation on pro modus  are alive .
As well , looking at these particular situation in T1 , my assessments off risk still is the same :
There is no way to come back to race in a save manner , once stranded back to front at this place and only working way , to reduce the risk for following drivers would have been to use rear gear to get the car out of the turn`s area . but guess GPL wont accept that and would have given an black flag on it . so hit esc button would have been more fast and save …

Well , as to servers quality . looking at my own replay , it seems like collision box wasn’t working proper all over .( lots of warp contact ) .
But this could substantiated in the source of errors non server replays do have .

Hope those new probs on T7_2 could be sorted out .

About connection problems on the server, i suggest use of the old TCP Optimizer: some time ago, i resolved all the problems with this program by let him do it optimization of TCP/IP parameters (it also works on the 7, although it is an old software developed to previous versions of Windows).

thanks, Bob, for the kind thoughts, would have liked to get more points, to help the cause, but was not to be.
Nurb, next year is going to be a sod with less acurate driving with all those bends, so have lots of time to practice{don't suppose the xmas spirit will help tho').
See you next year.
cheers David
