Aaaaaaaaarrrggh!! where did this race come from?Huh Shocked Shocked Shocked    Must check race posts more often Shocked

A new circuit for me and I won't be able to practice until I get home this evening!! It looks a simple layout but as usual with anything that looks easy..it probably isn't!!!  Undecided

What sort of lap times are you guys getting so that I know how depressed to get when I try and learn the track.  Embarrassed

I can do 1.48... decent laptime should be 1.47, the pole will probably be 1.46... and that nasty flatout chicane will take out the half of the field... damn hard track, but I like it.

We did this recently in a "fun" race so some of us have an edge there  Grin

So far i've managed to burst through the sub 1:55 barrier , mostly going backwa4rds , not much track to learn, it's mostly straight ,  a nice change from the helter skelter of St Jovite  Wink

At least I can use the awesome Wazamobile, Wink so I might have a setup that is somewhere near useable as a starting point.

1:48-1.46's's eh? ...a quick check on the GPL rank track records shows those times as WR level !!

Are you guys on steroids or other performance enhancing drugs?Huh or.. has the level of competition in UKGPL reached ramped up a notch or two Huh  eek

Or, more likely, none of the fast guys bothered to drive the track seriously with 66... I guess 1.54 or 53 would be possible, lol.

Im definetly driving way above my ability here... whole minutes, fill with total, addrenaline fulled concentration, the heart beating line drum in my ears... I cant complete whole race like that. In practice I did a laptime, wonderfully amazing by my standarts... When I got out of car, my hands were trembling... alot. In race... I was runing third, second even, with guys I shouldnt even see a glimpse of... For four laps, I could barely hear the engine from my pulse... and it was obvious it would end in dissaster. A disaster - as usialy for me - totaly patethic and unexquisable.

Well, I dont have a wheel, so I cant say my brake pedal broke... I simply forgot all about the braking zone. And tapped Raoni in the process... i think he managed to continue, luckily. Yeah.... Sorry, again...

You were definitely quick Sky but I think your nervousness showed. Your car was very twitchy and you appeared to be very close to the limit. ( but I bet it felt good!!!)

But, what it shows is that you CAN drive at that pace  Wink, what you now have to do is control yourself and try and get your mind into a relaxed state, just concentrating on your braking points and apexes. Once you learn to control yourself the driving is easy. Roll Eyes

Of course the Wazas have an advantage with all the Zen mind control that we practice  Grin

With my Zen training I calmly bagged some points and threatened to do a sub 2:00 lap several times Wink

On lap 17 I took a slightly wider line and followed the track down the armco without touching. Sadly there is a bug in the track and one of my wheels fell off.... briefly considered continuing as it wouldn't affect my pace much ( Grin) but flames in my mirrors dissuaded me...

Danged eyetallyan machine handled like a shopping trolley with race gas , tripped over the railway lines , got lost , drove half a mile on the grass (in the wrong direction ) , re joined the track then got a DQ  Roll Eyes

thought this feature was disabled for UKGPL races ?

steering geometry was bent after my "Off" , ran on at reduced pace hoping to pick up a finish , but ran out of luck about lap 10 and lost a wheel  :'(

Decided to spectate for a while as it seemed much safer watching the fun (thanks Paul )  Cheesy  though the few cars remaining seemed well spread out , not a track I particularly enjoy  Undecided

Grats to all who finished  Smiley

ho ho. Any tips would be appreciated.

It was funny really because on the last corner I was finally feeling a bit confident and I tried to go through flat out with justa dab of the brakes to rotate around the polos. Oops!

The gear changing was really tough for me because I am having MAJOR PC problems at home (I have to replace the motherboard Sad) so I don't have any sound so the only cues for changing were the rev counter and the ffb from the wheel. It is REALLY hard to look at the rev counter when your mirrors are full and the blue flag is in full bloom Cheesy

Still, I enjoyed it. Really should have done some practice but as I say my PC is a bit hit and miss at the mo.

After blowing a few engines & sucking a few polos during practice, I decided on a softly-softly-catchee-monkey approach here. Took it very easy during the opening phase & was pleased to find myself behind my teammate King Hiro during the opening laps of the race, as this helped me find a decent race rhythm at a fairly unfamiliar track. Andrea was several seconds behind & we seemed to be maintaining a nice gap but after some delays in traffic, Andrea was suddenly right on my tail. This was the start of an intense battle which lasted the whole race - Andrea passed me pretty quickly but thanks to the slipstream I was able to sit on his tail & try to work out where I might attempt to snatch back the place. Andrea was always very fair & I had numerous runs at him going into the T1 hairpin but to no avail. With retirements ahead we soon found ourselves fighting over a podium place & I intensified my attempts to get past, though at the same time was mindful not to take any silly risks. Towards the end I did finally manage to get past at T1 but then immediately overcooked it at T2 in all the excitement & Andrea was able to nip straight back past Tongue. Then on the last lap I got a good drag out of the penultimate corner & we headed down to the chicane side by side... I was briefly tempted to keep my foot in but I wasn't quite sure where Andrea was & after such a great fight the last thing I wanted to do was run him off the road.

Congrats to Clive on the win & condolences to Goran who deserved better after such a dominant showing.
