Moderator's Report

Another very clean race with no reported incidents. Very nice to see everyone behaving themselves and respecting other drivers :o)

I thought that I had found something to penalise Dave Ranier for when I noticed his car going through the pit-lane without stopping!!! OOO! How can he try such a sneaky move and avoid his Stop'n Go??
But it appears that he was being a great example to us all, when he found himself about to be lapped as he approached the last corner and took to the pit lane to avoid any hold up to the lead cars :O) Nice move Dave!! In fact I think he did that twice during the race.

Nigel tried to bend every panel on his Mk4 tank before he finally impaled it on the end of an armco barrier, but despite the rough treatment for almost 30 laps he did not need a reset!!??
A titanic battle at the front of the pack for the whole race between Juha and Tim with Alex watching very carefully for any mistakes from the lead cars. Once again despite the pace and the intense competition the drivers displayed great control and respect for each other.

Well - I did better than expected.... I couldn't race as my wheel, literally, fell to bits yesterday. I gave one lap of qually a go on the keyboard and crashed. A lot. Didn't set a time.

Classified 13th ahead of Cookie  Grin 11 points - my best return of the season...

Might have to look at the rules on this one... although I did take the car out thinking I would be classified last.
Rules are perfect, and i am proud of my First Driver !
Bravo !

...if you crossed the starting line, you are placed in front of me...

Hmmm. No I didn't. I didn't think it would be fair to race at all in case I took somebody out off the start line. I was happy to be qualified as I was there (started the server and did the import!) but as you can see I am qualified DNS and you don't even get that. Which is odd. Maybe because I had a connection to the server after the start time (to watch)?

I'll ask Clive what he wants to do but you should get one place back at least although my team captain may not agree  Grin

Mosport proved to be an interesting circuit for the GT cars, with the Lola proving to be THE car to have again.

Juha and FMG had a tremendous fight up front from flag to flag. Behind them the Ferrari and Mk2 Fords were locked in battle with a few Porkers, with the muscle cars protecting their positions with their superior speed on the straights only to be hounded around the twisty bits by the more agile Porsches.

I enjoyed a great tussle with Doni, Alex and Mark in their BIG cars and in between Al, Samb and myself argued over who would be in the first Porsche across the finish line.

Hiki Waza are leading the team table ATM because Nigel struggled around Mosport with his bulldozer thinly disguised as a MK4 Ford to collect valuable team points. As we approach half way in the season things are still very close and any team could still rise to the top as the cars are switched around between the drivers. I suspect that Tripoli at the end of the season could be where evrything is decided and every point will count  scared

That was a cracking race with Juha!
I deffinatly seemed to have the fastest car in the race as I was able to all sorts of silly things while trying to distract him that would normally drop me back half a second or more as a consequence - yet my Lola seemed quite happy to catch back up again in a lap or 2, mostly at turns 3 and 8 where I appeared able to carry more speed  Grin

Shame he beat my qualifying time just as I switched over to the race setup to re-adjust or I think I should have won with possibly a bit of a cushion  Smiley

Anyway, Juha performed some excellent driving to keep me behind for the entire race - I honestly had no idea how he didn't crack until after the race when he admitted he wasn't watching the mirrors - all that dancing by me wasted...  Roll Eyes
Backmarkers where supurb, we got a scare fairly early when someone span a tank in the dip before Moss while myself Juha and Mark were all fairly close together. Thankfully we all left each other plenty of room and lived to race on. Mzrks pace early on was also fantastic considering what he was driving!  Cool

Didn't see what happened to him but it's a shame he dropped out (Blown engine I assume?)

Well done to all finishers, and well done Juha on a sterling defence  Smiley

A hard race that. Me and the Porsche simply don't get on. Lovely as it is through the bends I can't stand the lack of grunt  Roll Eyes. The whole race involved me trying to pass bigger and faster cars on the straights, and all that ended up with was frustration and off-track excursions. Was rather fortunate to finish 5th. Might have been 4th had I not tried a reckless pass on Doni early in the race  Smiley.

indeed again some good racing on front,  i was suprised i got a pole position on quali that was my new personal best time for Lola too. I knew if im get to the front positions on the grid i have good changes to even win the race. Knowing this track did not give you many good opportunities to make any overtake anywhere except maybe backstraight ? but that too hard with big GT's to try. Tim was close few times backstraight but i close the door few times taking inside line to the right hander.  (yes i did watch mirror few times Smiley )  There was some backmarker who spins at the dip some point of a race but we all survived that easy, all race distance was defending my place but all was worth that as it was success!  Setup for Lola was excellent and grip was good Smiley i did count fuel consumption wrong as in the end of race i checked the the tank and there was 30liters left. lol   Smiley
thanks Tim for great battle !

to the Rouen !

My goodness me!  What a duel for the point!  It didn't take long for Juha and Tim to disappear into the far distance and I had no idea that these two carried on a fierce chase right to the checker.  Amazing stuff, gys.

Also amazing, the pace that the Brothers Barresi could wring out of the big Ford Mk2.  Simply astonishing to see those big muthas haul around this circuit which is more known for demanding crisp handling in a light and small car.  Anything but a Mk2.  Great job, fellas.

I must correct Clive's statement above of "...only to be hounded around the twisty bits by the more agile Porsches."  I'd say it should have read more like:

"...only to be hounded MERCILESSLY around the twisty bits by the more agile Porsches."

 Grin

OMG!  The little put-putts were just dynamite here at Mosport witness Clive out-gunning me in qualifying to start P4 to my P5.  Boffo stuff from the little car!  Only thanks to my extra bhp up the back straight was I able to sift by on L1 and then hang on for dear life.  Trust me, gys; I was driving with some pace.  Of course, that just set the stage for Clive and Sam to hound me til a strange collision with Sam in T3 on L7 had Sam arcing off the road.  From the server replay that I downloaded, I really can't detect any obvious contact; more like GPL's collision detection making a wild card call to Sam's great loss with a spin to the outfield.  Sorry for that, Sam.  Down in the hairpin, I made a gaffe by turning in a bit early for 5b and struck the kerb.  This bounced me wide and had me slow to retain control.  This caused Clive, right on my tail, to lift and swing wide on the grassy verge on the left to avoid hitting my taill.   Very bad luck as my error caused Clive to lose several seconds and two positions.  Sorry, Evil.  Sad

This actually worked to my advantage as now I had Alex in his big Mk2 directly behind working as sort of a blocker for me against the Porsches.  I was able to concentrate on getting down decent laps and soon actually started to close in on Mark.  The gap was as high as seven seconds at one point around L15 but by L22, was a mere two second deficit.  L23 and a long, lazy and unfortunate spin by Mark in 2a opened the door for me to move through to P3 which I was able to  hold to the finish.  I ran conservatively over the last half-dozen laps or so to maintain that important podium finish.  Juha and Tim were long gone.  Sam did a great job to recover from that off to finish a fighting P5.  Well done.  Mark and Evil suffered more assorted mis-adventures to finish P6 and P7, respectively.  Sam was not far behindin P8, last car on the lead lap.

Hats off to both Nigel and Dave for being very heads-up in lapping situations.  Thanks, lads.

My vision held quite well til the later laps when a little fogging presented itself but it was nothing like the horror of last week's Works event at St. Jovite.

On to Rouen!
