I had almost decided that either old age is slowing me down..or some of you guys are getting quicker!! but I have just discovered that the loud ledal on my G25 might not be working properly
When I give it wellie the rev counter does not climb smoothly towards the red line but hesitates and does not always make it!!
I suspect that I need to clean the pot under the pedal, so I will have to dismantle the pedal set one evening and clean it out...I hope that is all it is!!!
Anyway back to the race....and those coming up fast from behind...... I got a good start and jumped the always slow starting Raonni to get behind Mark (I think?). The plan then was to stick with him if I could ( there was No way I could match Tim up front...it transpired that I could not match Mark or Goran either!!! A small mistake and Goran dived through leaving me with a green thing growing large in my mirrors!!!
Now I think about it, Clutch has been on my tail in quite a few races lately and making life difficult for me
Well he excelled himself this time!!
For just about the whole race he pressured me and only managed to pass me once when he took "the short cut" to land in front of me lol I think he was so shocked that he had survived that he sat there stunned whilst I nipped back in front again
. There were one or two "nudges" where he was able to brake far later than I could in my Waza but nothing to complain about. I was slightly quicker in some sections and he was fast enough in other bits to close up again. So for lap after lap I had to defend my line against what was a faster car/driver combination behind me, talk about working hard for virtually the whole race until 3 laps from the end Clutch finally mad a big enough error and gave me a chance to take a breath.
What Clutch did not know was that I was marginal on fuel
and made sure I got to the line by short shifting those last few laps. I did not run out, but I might have if I had been made to use max revs for the last 3 laps...phew!!!
Grats to Tim and Mark and Goran for some great pace up front and huge respect to Clutch for some great racing.
