I'm going to set my dedi server for practice on Tuesday night (for anyone who isn't running GT Sprint event)

I'm hoping to test my limit (so far only had 4) of clients, so i'll start with a limit of 10, and hopefully find out.

Depends on who turns up and what they want to do, but maybe a short race (no real testing for wednesdays event, so no advantages gained)

Start: 7:30pm (60 min practice for time to join) then maybe 15mins qualify and 10 lap race, or practice only if not enough to race.

Cheers Clarey.

Is this on ADSL with 256k Upload? If so you'll get 7.

Think I'll give this one a miss to give others a chance to race.

I'll see if I have the time to do laps in all cars again and report the times.

Will hopefully make this one and will take a Falcon for a spin, don't think one has had a run in this mini series yet.

Raaaaar!

Will try this one and this time I'm not disconnecting to change graphics settings and returning to a full server, loool! Grrr

I got an upload of 1 MB now btw, how many players would that support? Providing I use it fully for GTL (or GTR for that matter) and not partly for pr0n  Shocked Wink Cheesy

I'm disturbed. You're uploading pr0n?  Shocked

Think 1MB upload is good for about 10 players IIRC.

^ If that is troo, shouldn't 1MB upload be more than 10? I mean what kinda upload do the 32 player servesr have then?! LOL!

The XP Task Manager thingy shows the main server running an upload of around 1MB with 24 cars. Because there is more available bandwdith the lower latency of that will help to make the player numbers higher than a straight 1MB link. I'd expect you to get more than 10 tho.

Wouldn't that be nice, but no, I beleive 1Mb is only good for 10 people. You may be able to get a few more, need to be tried.

36 players needs a big connection but also a very good PC hence why the Picnic server can only run 24. It has tonnes of bandwidth but runs out of grunt and it's not exactly  a rubbish spec (P4 2.4) for a server. Will be interesting to see how much higher than 24 Picnic's will go for rFactor which is less CPU intensive.

What is the spec of your server at home?

I've had two excellent races so I will give someone else the opportunity to join the fun and sit this one out. Have fun   Grin.

Not a lot Wink Just my regular machine AMD 2400+ with 768MB ram. Used to work with about 10 peeps I think on a 0.7MB upload. Maybe I'll put it up for a couple of days sometime (when I'm out Smiley) for us to try. BTW, I wouldn't call a P4 2.4 high spec either, gaming wise it's about as good as an AMD running on 2.0 Ghz (mine) which is completely outdated now! * sniff * Wink Cheesy
