Very impressive times by the top 3 guys in qualifying - OK Zolder is criminally underused (perhaps the forthcoming graphics update will change that) but the top trio still claimed world records for their respective chassis, leaving me to line up in a distant 4th. With Joe doing a Vettel on us this season, I was rather hoping that someone would give him a race this time out hammer Art looked set to do just that from pole & it was a real pity that he went off on the opening lap.

Art's misfortune nonetheless promoted me to 3rd & I spent the first 10 laps or so tailing Bob who was moving that BRM far quicker than it had any right to go. Me & Bob seemed pretty evenly matched & I was plotting how I might get a run on him but then I had a problem lapping Hannah whose car was warping slightly - he'd pulled to the right to let me pass but warp made his car bunny-hop to the left & then just as I was about to dive inside on the run down to the chicane he disappeared completely Shocked By the time I'd tiptoed past, Bob was long gone & now I had Art to contend with all by myself. Judging by Art's qualifying pace this was set to be a very short battle, but his Ferrari suddenly disppeared from my mirrors going off at the fast lefthander after the long straight. Wondering if Art had incurred any damage, I tried to step up my pace & see if I could somehow increase the gap but my ambition soon outstripped my ability & I spun off into the haybales at Terlamenbocht Tongue. I was hoping that Art might catch a glimpse of some yellow flags & take a tight line to sneak through but unfortunately he crested the blind corner at full pelt & found me sitting serenely right in his path! To add insult to injury, the collision not only launched me back onto the track with no damage & facing the right way but mangled Art's Ferrari in the process... sorry Art! Having nobbled the opposition, I was left to cruise unchallenged to a richly-undeserved 3rd (yet almost threw that away with another spin late on). The only other incident of note was coming round the fast lefthander just as Hannah's Brabham rather comically plopped softly down from one of the treetops like an autumnal leaf!

Congrats to Joe yet again & to BRM-Bob.

Strangely this was also the first time I had ever raced at Zolder, although the track has been around for quite a while.

I did a few laps of practice on Saturday and soon discovered that none of my Honda setups suited this track. I concentrated on getting a working setup with race fuel, which proved to be the right decision as Art, Joe and Bob blitzed qualification with some stunning times.

I had hoped that a steady drive and natural attrition might gain me a few places and when Art chose to investigate the gravel at T2 and one or two other cars opted for scenic routes, I felt that things could work out.

But, Art recovered and hassled me in his much quicker Fez, until I ran wide and he went through and eased away. I was still running quite well and pressed on trying to maintain a reasonable pace.....there were still a lot of laps to go and plenty of opportunity for retirements  Roll Eyes

Suddenly Art was in sight and he appeared to be travelling more slowly than he had been, so I upped my pace slightly to try and catch him. Bad move!! I cooked the rear tyres and managed a 360 degree spin which allowed Art off the hook  Undecided
It was about then that I did my customary fuel check at around half distance only to discover that at my current pace I would not make it to the flag!!....RATS!!!  So the rest of the race was done slightly short shifting until the last 3 laps when it looked extremely marginal Shocked so I cruised the last few laps and crossed the line with only 25psi of fuel pressure.

I was nowhere near the pace of Joe, Bob and co . In fact by the end of the race I was nowhere near anyone's pace except my own and barely that!!?  Undecided

Grats to Joe on his record in 67's, he seems to have found the "groove".

Firstly I'd like to apologise to Ray (RonniePeterson) for taking him out of the race, I'd settled into something of a daze after knocking round by myself for quite a while, and my reactions were not at their sharpest when I ran into the back of him as he slowed to let me past. Unfortunately the end result was Ray winding up upside down, very sorry.  Undecided

No problem Joe and an apology after a coming together is always much appreciated regardless of who is at fault. The plan was let you pick your own speed and line down the straight but it was not to be. Maybe my Clark-Hill team mate would appreciate an incident report, to possibly narrow the points difference? Not from me, you fully deserved the win and I have no intention of spoiling your 100% win record on a technicality. It would be a travesty of justice. But come Carthage I and everyone else will be out to halt your winning streak at least.

Thanks again for the words above, not everyone finds it possible to apologise, maybe thats the sign of a true champion, we shall see?

First time for me at Zolder too, though I am aware of the history of the place (vaguely!).  I wasn't sure how to play it, I had the 'cash' to buy summat quick and thought it may be worth a punt to try and win it.  I don't think it would have been, so am pleased to have shopped at Aldi!

Thanks for the praise for my lap times.  My qual lap was a pb, which I was pleased with but I was astounded at the pace of Attilio and Joe...very impressive  I Am Not Worthy

However, come the race I knew it would be a struggle, hence was pleased to have a breather after about 10 laps with Al in reasonably close attendance.  I seemed unable to drive good lines through the 3rd and 4th turns, either missing the apex or turning too much then having to have a second go.  I struggle to concentrate for an entire race distance, also find it hard on the eyes (any chance of a mid race break?).  I had a couple of spins and a pretty good go on the wall in the turn before the straight, which amazingly didn't do any damage whistling

Joe was impressively fast and I forgot about him pretty soon and kept checking prib for the fast approaching Al and Atilio.  They seemed to advance in waves, but then I saw the gap suddenly increase and after another lap their charge ended.

A somewhat fortunate 2nd place, but once again that is racing and I'll take it  Grin

Congrats to all finishers, slightly disappointed at the small field.

Cheers for the event, Bob.

Can anyone stop Smokin' Joe?  Seems not!  Grats on another fine win, JS.  Al's note above of Joe doing a Vettel on us seems most appropriate.

A terrific and admirable drive from Bob netted P2 in the BRM.  My, but don't I wish I could match that pace!

It certainly bad luck for Art to spin off at T2 on L1 from pole.  As I swept by seeing a red car out there and the distinctive Ferrari V-12 engine note, I thought, 'You poor bugger...all for nought.'  He did recover, at least, and I heard him steaming up hard from behind.  I pulled over to release him as there was no point at all in holding up a much faster runner.

I was just easing myself into this race with no heroics til I got to the fast, left-handed sweeper and got the P115 a touch sideways on turn-in.  In holding the slide, I ate up too much track on the right and clipped a post.  In over 20 laps of pre-race trials, I hadn't had a single incident here.  Now, when it counted, I blew it.  With the big BRM obviously trashed, I quickly reached for the Escape key knowing that TripleA was not far behind and liable to stove right into my wreckage.  Not quick enough.  He clipped me and spun wildly but amazingly, didn't strike any barriers.  Sorry 'bout that.  As it worked out, a short fill stopped him cold soon after.

Carthage should prove interesting.  Time to up-gun my ride.  Smiley

No worries Doni - it was certainly a shock to find you lying there, and I think I spun (??), having clipped you as I tried to change direction. However I was mostly glad to find I still had clean dry trousers to sit in as I pulled away again laugh

Re the CTD art, I have found that the camera views can get corrupted. Have you changed them. You could always re-install the 67 version using the GPLPS beta 1.04 installer which is totally painless and gives updated tracks and rasterisers. That installer can be found here

Thank you Paul, will give it a try. Reinstalling is not worth just for the replay though, painless is not guranteed, looking at the ridiculous size of my gpl folder atm..
