Grand Prix Legends - Zolder 1967 - Promotion Movie

Great video - it's just a pity they had to ruin it by slapping that hideous 'music' on top of the graphics. I've never understood why so many video makers feel compelled to add a piece of music (whether rock, pop, jazz or classical) that is completely unrelated to what is happening on the screen. It's one thing to cut a video to a music track but in most cases, as here, the music seems to be stuck on as an afterthought.
This video would have been much better and more immersive if we could just listen to the sounds of the cars.

After a day of non-stop connection problems, I finally worked out that my router had lost the association between my PC and GPL, and re-associated the two. That was the connection sorted in time for the race, but it totally ****** up my prep for the race, with the result that I started the race with 4 laps fuel.

I wish I could laugh at what is my own stupid fault, but I'm just starting to wonder why I bother spending so much time doing this.

Hope my mood improves in time for next races...

Firstly I'd like to apologise to Ray (RonniePeterson) for taking him out of the race, I'd settled into something of a daze after knocking round by myself for quite a while, and my reactions were not at their sharpest when I ran into the back of him as he slowed to let me past. Unfortunately the end result was Ray winding up upside down, very sorry.  Undecided

Pretty lonely affair overall, I was relishing the prospect of a good battle with Art after he took pole (and a lap record), unfortunately Art found himself in the gravel by the second corner. Bob put in a very good performance in the BRM and gave chase for quite a while, but he must've had a moment because he dropped back very suddenly.

Not much else happened, apart from a major lapse in concentration with 2 laps to go which saw me have a very big off, lucky not to hit any trees and bin the race there and then.

Thanks as always racers and organisers, I'm looking forward to Carthage, certainly one of the more unique circuits and also where I made my GPL league debut two years back. Smiley

Well the extra points from the last round but one (Dragon's Nest) should help...

As always, replay is available here. Just select the Graduates (Works) series. Analysis is available if you click on the Archive name.

That analysis is available directly from here.

The Replay .rar files are available here.

I wonder if anyone can help, I have a problem watching my replays, after a few minutes I regularly have a CTD and have to reload the game. I think it started popping up after I joined a few races via VROC, I suspect some file may be corrupted. Any idea of something I could try anyone? Reinstall for the replays is obviously out of question  Wink Thanks guys.

As for my race, rather disappointing of course. I had a few tenths in my pocket on the brabbys and quite a few more on the BRMs which I put to good use snatching pole. But that was all the good that came out of this race, as after the start, by making sure I was giving all the room to Joe on the inside at turn 1, I found myself off the line at turn 2. It is a sort of double apex turn, and in that position you need to be dead slow to make it round it, if it surprises you when suddenly you reach the second part you have already run out of road. Well, I had done precisely that mistake in a practice race trying to pull a pass on Al, and I thought I was going dead slow at the start of the real race. Not quite enough obviously.. Roll Eyes So hit the brakes in haste, spun, gravel, dead last from pole. Dont you just hate when it happens.. hammer

The low attendance, a couple of helpful guys at the back (thank you!), a couple of people spinning and a slide too many from Clive allowed me in fourth place by lap 4 or 5, reeling in fast on Al and Bob who were a few secs away. Joe was out of reach, but a podium still possible. But passing is not as easy as it looks like around here, as if you dont want to dive in one of the slow corners of sector 1, you need to put in the pass at turn 1 after the S/F straight, which includes a rather faithful close chase of the guy ahead through the flat out chicane, hoping you can gauge his sliding or confidence lifting to perfection. Unfortunately, that turned out to be an academic problem for me, as things panned out. I had had a lucky escape, hitting the inside at the fast left hander of S3 (the cursed Villeneuve bend, by the way), which had sent me around the trees on the outside, but in a couple of laps Al was already in sight again. Too much in sight at one point, as I turned in after the braking point of S3 just to stare straight into his big grin while he was waiting for me in his motionless car precisely on my trajectory. I suspect I must have seen something anomalous in the corner of my eye while braking for that corner, as my braking point was very marginal and I would have run wide anyway and maybe even kissed the barriers. Instead it was collision full on. No ones fault of course Al, actually it was avoidable had I been on a normal line for that bend!

Getting going again, I immediately realised the car was totally rubbished, not really straight on the straights, and very little collaborative in anything that went left. The right handed bits were not too bad, if a bit twitchy here and there. I seriously considered quitting, as plodding around with a broken charriot for half a race is really not my thing, but after a couple of laps of adjustments I realised I could keep up with Clive who was a few seconds behind, and with Al a few seconds ahead, so decided to soldier on, hoping in a mistake from the ones ahead which never came, but also taking my fourth finish in a row in the process. Which doesnt sound like a lot, but it is not bad at all considering I amassed no more than 10 mins racing in the first 3 races I did with pro rules  Grin Grin

Grats to SuperJoe and the quick podium. I would add grats to all finishers, but there were 5 of us! Not everyone is a fan of this track I can see, although I really liked it from the start, theres not an uninteresting corner, good racing possible but not too easy, really nice sweeping last section. Good choice whoever decided to introduce it at UKGPL.

Suppose that next round will be all about who explodes the last  Grin Grin See you there guys, thanks for the racing.

Re the CTD art, I have found that the camera views can get corrupted. Have you changed them. You could always re-install the 67 version using the GPLPS beta 1.04 installer which is totally painless and gives updated tracks and rasterisers. That installer can be found here
