UKGPL Season 22 (2011-2012) Historic (66) - Schottenring - Feb 21

WELCOME TO THE UKGPL SEASON 22 HISTORIC (66) TROPHY  

For the sixth round we go to Germany. On the schottenring track you have 57 X 9 chances to mess up, so be aware.

There will be full moderation of lap one Red Zone and reported incidents for the rest of the race. Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.

The Red Zone is from start and until Götzen

Reserve drivers should not use the server between 35 and 30 minutes of qualifying to allow full timers to join.

Please restrict chat to a minimum, (or maybe none).

I visited Watkins Glen once, while passing through, and it seemed a long way from Germany.  At this typing, the track name stated above, comes from the United States type track.

May have to miss this as we are having the cellar done up so my PC is not cabled - I may be able to jury-rig the laptop but not ideal... I like the Historics as well (even if they don't like me). This is the site of my famous fourth place last year... I seem to remember I was about 50% slower than everyone else but didn't find as many hedges... It is BLOODY HARD though!

Hmmm. Managed to join with 20 seconds to go because of Pancake day and lots of greedy kids (Mini = 4 pancakes  ) but I thought - I'll roll round and see what happens...

Nearly my shortest race ever and in total between Qually and Race - definitely my shortest. Surely it is some kind of record...

Cant buy a race finish in this series .

Went to Germany with the full intention of taking it really easy,  all the way to the flag , but mother fate had it in for me yet again when 1/4 around the lap I  suddenly came across  Phil ? who'se Ferrari  was lying dead across the track . Manage to just sqeeze by , but I didn't recon on the tree some kind hearted soul had planted on my escape route .

Disastrous race for me.  Blo*&dy frame rate problems again.  Praccy was fine and I took the precaution of leaving the server and rejoining before the race as this seems to help but not on this occasion .  In the race I was managing to stay in touch with Martin but I had Raoni all over my gearbox.  It was pretty difficult to control the car so I tried to drive a steady line.  As we went up the hill through the tree lined section Raoni tried to get past.  I didn't see him coming so I didn't leave any extra room like I normally do in those situations (not that I had the car control to do anything about it) and he clipped my rear wheel sending us both into the trees and out of the race.  Sorry you got caught up in the carnage Bernie.

This frame rate problem is really hacking me off.  I've tried everything I can think of but the problem appears to be random.  I can't reproduce it on demand so I don't know what is causing it.  If I knew why it was happening I'd have a chance of doing something about it.

Sorry to here about the FR probs Phil , maybe go back to basics with this one   

Checkout the best drivers for GPL ( not neccesarily the latest ones for your card ) , or maybe some programme running in the background you dont know about ?

what GPU are you using, 

how much RAM have you available ?

Have you configured your AV to allow iGOR ?

Check also you have only one AV programme running and that its not scaning you system / updating at race times .

I had similar problems some time ago if you recall and can't remember what specifically was the problem but sure it was some or all of the above .

Antway , get the thing sorted , RIGHT NOW !

Frame rate problems are a nightmare - only happens online so I do not think that Graphics drivers are to blame. They are a total nightmare to diagnose though. I was only getting 18-19 last night so there may have been some issue with the connection through to the server?

Good thing about the Historics is the scoring being so exclusive - I can still win this championship...

At Getschottenring, I just couldn't connect with my car.  GEM decided the track was too dangerous, and refused to let me join.  Until, with some fiddling, I arrived via IP, and with just time enough for 2 timed laps.

A cautious opener, ended in my worst nightmare!  Approaching the timing beam . . . umm, stopwatch, a car started out of the pits, and right into my path.  I skimmed past, and the shattered remnants of my fragmented Ferrari, put me 5th fastest, from somewhere amidst the undergrowth!

My mirrors were witness to some horrendous sights, during the first lap.  It was only speed that kept me safe, from a fate worse than life.  But a careless wheel on the grass, soon turned things around on lap 2.  The car wafted casually into the armco, and Pro damage did the rest.
