Moderator's Report

Terrific dicing with no incidents on Lap 1. Well done all.

Ron and Nicky get very close off the line as they snake towards each other but no harm done.

Keep it up boys.

This post is for both the Light Brigade & the Heavy Brigade Spec Races.

Round seven, 69 Extra & its time to unleash the McLaren M7 at Monza. Two things to find out 1/ the effect of the draft with this Mod & 2/ how much wing you can do without for this superfast circuit.

If you can do without too much authenticity there is a patch in SRMZ that clears the rear view mirrors for all the cars.

After 3 rounds in the 69X, Artiglietti leads the Light Division, Evil has set up permanent camp on the second step of the podium & Alex is in third. In the Lights Jonny O is tops followed by Sky (2 wins from 2 starts) & Billy (temporary interloper so high up the table!). Turn outs have dropped a little of late – so if you are a loose end this Friday come & join the fun.

The Champion ship table will be updated shortly to include the first 3 rounds in the 65 cars. Don’t worry your hard earned points have not gone to waste.

Unlimited resets are allowed but every Shift R must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane. If you Reset on the last lap a 30 second time penalty will be awarded.
Incidents should be reported in the usual way.
In line with other divisions the races will be subject to full moderation  in the red zone – which will be to the exit of the second Lesmo.

The servers will start no later than 9pm with a minimum of 30 minutes qualification, please ensure you join the brigade – LIGHT on UKGPL8 & HEAVY on UKGPL3. If you drive on the wrong grid you will be either surprised how quick you are / hopelessly outclassed & disqualified.

Race List = IGOR

Well, I've just done a "pleasant" hour of setup work on the M7 and am pretty chuffed with my pace (1:28 in qual trim, 1:30 on full tanks) but surprised how little difference there was between running mid-levels of wing and full wings. Found less than 4 degrees to be undrivable however...... Also finding it helps to have slightly less front wing than rear but I guess that is going to dependent on driving style and diff/suspension setup as well..... and I remembered to leave some head room in 5th gear ready for the drafting action Smiley

Thanks for posting that Jason. I was part expecting the 69X to be quicker than the 67 - but there is little in it. Have found the 69X really does need work to find a decent set up. My best is a low 1.30 with a about half race fuel. Not You can definitely carry less wing than other tracks.
If anyone want to borrow a set up please let me know.

Strange setup with so much wings, Jason... Shocked
My wings are between 1 and 2 !
You will be faster in the corners but on the straights you will loose it! Tongue

Test it tonight at BREASTS  Wink

I tried F1/R2 but found the lack of stability quite alarming. Also had a lot of understeer with low wing angles and would have required a radically different base setup to compensate and haven't the time or patience. My best laps came with F4/R5 and a 60/60+2 dif.

Bernie,
The IT issues are well beyond me but the is the new 69 Extra Mod rather than the original 69 Mod. I've spent 5 minutes looking for the link but I can't find a post with a link to the download. Presumably SRMZ will be more helpful.
69X is hungry on memory & takes much longer than usual to run the game.
Apologies if you were referring to 69X.

Thanks guys , I have all the 69 & 69 X   L/W M/W H/W etc loaded up .

The problem is none of them will work  :'(

I recall this being a problem from first instalation , never bothered to sort it as I didnt want to mess the other mods up,  which I almost certainly will do if I try fixing things myself

there was a thread in UKGPL but I cant seem to find it

Bernie , why not simply create a new 2nd GPL install followingg this guide :
http://en.gplworld.eu/easy-installation-guide.html

as you mentioned something could be wrong with your existing GPL install , for sure its the most save and easy way to install a brandnew 2nd GPL . Put it in anoter partition and/or give it another name so GEM can understand that there is a 2nd install .
good luck

A second installation is useful Bernie, just use a different path c:\sierra\gpl2\ or whatever...

I have been using disabled DEP , tried putting all the ex files in there anyway
tried the thing with 69 seasons.ini (checked ANSI coding )
still get the same CTD

A few questions

Have files C:\ gpl69mod   c:\gpl69xtra  which are sitting on the C:\ root  , should they be somewhere else ?

One guy talks about re installing  GPLexe ? how best should I do that ?

Post #27 in this thread shows thumbs of exactly as my problem , but the guy doesnt say if he fixes it or no  Undecided

http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=6920&hl=%20ctd%20%20green%20%20button&st=24

In GPL secrets /GEM+/resources/gplmods/GEM+ there are just 4 files

gples.cst
gplfd.cst
gplfg.cst
gplfv.cst

should not 69 files be here too ?

why have 2 GEM+ files ?  seems strange to me

GPL Secrets files are just fine Bernie. Those are carsets for formula libre and other exotic mixtures.

The others are probably in gpl\mods\something or other.
