Our destination this week is the hot and sunny circuit of Interlagos in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Following the decision to end the Works Trophy early in light of the sad news about Joe Shaw, this event is now non-championship. So don't worry about driving for points or saving tokens, go out there and give 'em hell. Joe will be watching!

I agree Art. This sounds a very decent gesture & I welcome the decision. To beat Joe's total under these circumstances would make for a hollow victory indeed.

I joined with the expressed purpose of doing just one lap in honour of Joe and pulling into the pits straight away.  I just toured and let my thoughts drift to our fallen mate.

Racing was quite out of the question.

A good turnout for this race which was a nice response from the membership for Joe's memory.
I considered doing exactly the same Doni, but after some thought I wondered what Joe might have wanted.

I reasoned ( and this is a personal view and in no way critical of what anyone else chose to do) that these last few non championship races are as a memorial to Joe's memory, so I figured that it I would just give it 110% like Joe did when he was racing.

Perhaps the Honda was not the best car to run around this track ( is any track good for the Honda??!! Undecided ), but SHE said I had to drive it so ........
Qually went reasonably well but the sub 2:50 sec lap times at the front of the grid were a concern, when my pb was about 2:54. I jumped Tom's Lotus off the grid and found myself in about 6th spot as things sorted out. But the cars in front were all quick and my fuel heavy Honda was struggling in the corners and losing ground.
As the race progressed one or two cars retired for various reasons until I was in with a podium chance, but T2 which was proving difficult to get right in the Waza caught me out and I ran wide and lost traction throwing me into a 720 deg spin!  that dropped me back into the clutches of Tom and his Lotus.

The rest of my race was spent fending off Tom and then Juha from my possible 2nd place, both in those infernal green things!! Until 2 laps from the end the tyres finally gave up completely when the temps went into the infra red  range and all rear traction vanished!!
the spin heated the tyres even more and the next corner removed a wheel and that was race over.

Grats to Al for a dominant win, something that Joe would have approved of I think. Thanks to everyone who joined in this race in whatever way they chose to show their respect for Joe's memory.

Must admit I didn't much care for this track at first, though once I got to know it a little better, I rather enjoyed the challenge. Would have been great to see what Joe would have done with it (first place & a world record lap on the way, I suspect!)

Mindful of the Lotus' fragilities I was very wary of all the bumps & steep cambers here, so drove a rather cautious opening stint running in 2nd place behind poleman Art. Ronnie & Fulvio both looked pretty handy running close behind me but by around 1/3rd distance they'd both disappeared & I was left on my own to try & chase down Art. Not sure how well my renewed pursuit of the leader was going but Art's unfortunate engine blowup soon settled all that & left me out front with a healthy lead. Having already buzzed my Lotus engine far too many times, I thought it prudent to ease off in order to avoid suffering the same fate & rather cruised to the flag. Nice to see UKGPL maintaining its policy of allowing people to win on their birthday weekend Wink

Commiserations to Attilio. Congrats to Juha (looked a great battle with Clive on the replay), Tom & Hannah.

Grats to the podium and good to see Hannah up there in 4th! I really like this track but I fully expected the Lotus to go pop at some stage and sure enough she did. Having said said the horses won't be spared in the next two memorial races in Joe's memory. Missing you mate.

I actually did some praccy for this race, but a while back.  My strategy had me in a Honda, which I was steadily getting a better lap time oot ay...though I was some way off Clive I Am Not Worthy

I used a setting with a 45/45 diff which meant I needed to keep plenty of power on into corners, but with the advantage that lifting off killed the understeer...but it was a fine line between that and oversteer...and spinning off  Shocked.  I didn't get the best out of this setup and with a somewhat curtailed qual session (trying to re-install prib, without success) I was 3 to 4 secs off my pb.  In the race I scratched around at the back, not knowing who was where.  At one point I rather overestimated the car in front's braking, which resulted in a botched overtake and contact (sorry whoever that was...hope you got going again).  Several spins later I was actually relieved to end stuck on the T1 armco after 7 laps...I'd been Grin

Congrats to Al and the podium, bad luck Attilio, impressive pole time.

Bob.

As i studied track during the race i was able to disturb Evil more closer  laugh ,finally he make small mistake and drop out,Kinghiro  was let me go more easily.

track was good even i think something else before raceday.

maybe i start driving Lotus more often . angel
