Moderator's Report

No incidents, no reports - this is getting boring ;)

Server replay time: 0h01m42s

Billy outbrakes himself and meets one of the infamous Interlagos cones.

He is careful rejoining but Badblood thoughtfully spins to allow Billy to go on his way.

Moderator's Report

Sadly thin grid - made somewhat thinner by Cookie forgetting to turn up in time... he has to start form the Pit lane but not before Ron visits the wall off the line...

Pretty good driving by all the guys and Evil makes a nice pass on Art who had a better start from P2.

Server replay time: 0h01m38s

Fulvio is under pressure from Ron who has the inside line. Perhaps Fulvio is a little heavy on the brakes, maybe a touch of warp but nobody does anything wrong.

Server replay time: 0h03m20s

Ron overcooks it on one of the many corner exits and spins all by himself

Server replay time: 0h03m40s

Cookie doesn't see why Ron should have all the fun and does a solo pirouette.

This post is for both the Light Brigade & the Heavy Brigade Spec Races.

Round eight &  perhaps the last chance to try the 69 Extra in a championship race this season. We are off to the Interlagos circuit in Brazil. A left handed track with a variety of tight of & fast corners. Your choice of chariot on this occasion in the BRM P126/139.

If you can do without too much authenticity there is a patch in SRMZ that clears the rear view mirrors for all the cars.

After 4 rounds in the 69X, Evil claims his first win at Monza & replaces Art at the top of the  Light  Brigade with Goran moving up to third. In the Heavy Brigade, Bernie “these cars are too fast for me” Darwin stormed to victory at Monza. Jonny O tops the table followed Billy & Hendy. Can Jonny win on home soil?

The Championship table will be updated shortly to include the first 3 rounds in the 65 cars. Don’t worry your hard earned points have not gone to waste.

Unlimited resets are allowed but every Shift R must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane. If you Reset on the last lap a 30 second time penalty will be awarded.
Incidents should be reported in the usual way.
In line with other divisions the races will be subject to full moderation  in the red zone – which will be to the exit of turn 4 – Juncao (the one before the lake).

The servers will start no later than 9pm with a minimum of 30 minutes qualification, please ensure you join the brigade – LIGHT on UKGPL8 & HEAVY on UKGPL3. If you drive on the wrong grid you will be either surprised how quick you are / hopelessly outclassed & disqualified.

Sigh - another bad one - just couldn't keep it on the black stuff - couldn't even brake in a straight line on the default setup. Sad

Never mind - enjoyed a restful qually and the builders have finished so my PC is reconstructed.

I used the default setup but just set the Front Wing to 3.5 and the Rear Wing to 3.0 and it felt good to me.

Pity the race itself wasn't good Sad.  I was in a fairly safe second place with 6 laps to go and I got a screen freeze taz

There was no way I could stay with Hendy.  His pole time was phenomenal!!  Second place would have felt like a win.

Lol, Phil. I should have stuck with what I had. I just kept spinning under braking - I think it was bumps on the circuit that I hadn't gone across in qually.

You really don't appreciate just how poor I am...

Were you changing down to early?  That can cause a spin.

When braking hard keep a little throttle open, that helps to steady the car.

What a shame Clive! Angry

As this was neither my track nor my car, I did not expect anything...
But I was trying to find a better time in quali til the end but then it was too late when I made some last corrections in the setup the grid was closed!
Starting out of the pits with a first uncounted lap, my enthusiasm was totaly gone when I found that this changes made it worse...
With an easy crash I decided to retire Embarrassed

I can't feel too accomplished about this win with such a small grid and the fact that I was slower today than I was in practice. Barely made it, joined with 10 minutes of qualy remaining and managed to put in at least one good lap. Congrats to all who managed to finish, and condolences to those who didn't finish, and Sky, not sure what happened it looks like you dropped out before the race started.

Looking back at last nights race I still feel robbed by the gremlins, but they have always had a role in success or failure in GPL so we have to live with it.

Grats to Art on the win and to all those who managed to finish.

I confess that I had a chuckle when I pipped art for pole by the slenderest of margins. I was already reasonably happy with 3rd place and not too bothered about getting pole, but it still felt good  Wink

I muffed the start by shifting into 2nd too soon and it allowed Art to get alongside into T1 and take the lead. But I think his forced tight line compromised his approach to T2 and his exit speed onto the straight. I was able to sweep through T2 and pick up his slipstream and make an easy passing move into the T3-T4 complex.
My tight line into T3 did not leave me open to attack, because T4 follows so closely, so I just made sure of a good exit line up to T5 and the hairpin. Art was right on my tailpipes going into the hairpin but either my gearing or setup allowed me a much quicker exit and I pulled a vital few metres of breathing space. From then on I was able to drive my own race and slowly stretch out my lead until I had a good few seconds ( = 1 mistake and recovery buffer) in hand after 5 or 6 laps.
The setup was solid and as long as I kept things smooth there were no issues with tyre temps, and still the gap was growing.

I had just settled into a nice rythmn, focusing on maintaining the gap and bringing tha car home for some nice points when on lap 9 it all froze. Even task manager could not thaw this icy blast and I was forced to switch off the power to my computer and reboot.

I guess it just makes the title race a little more interesting, but it would have been nice to have got the points Undecided

7 cars on the Heavy division (Sky was the 8th but was disconnected before the start) and 6 cars on the Light Division ...
It's a pity there was not only one server.

By the way, for me the race was interesting thanks to Phil Thornton with whom I tried to keep the contact before he disconnected, and thanks to Jonny, we did a great and pleasant fight during 11 laps until we collided, it was just a race incident.
Jonny was waiting for me, when I did a stop'n'go !!
Jonny is a king of fair play and a great gentleman on the track , it's really a great pleasure to compete with such a driver !

Grats to Hendy who was racing in another division (looks like he has a Formula 1 and us only a Formula 3 ) !
