Moderator's Report

Italian hotshoe Attilio Artiglietti took a narrow win from Flying Finn Juha Halli to establish an early lead in the title battle.

No red zone incidents and no reported incidents. Keep it up chaps :)

An eventful affair for me.

I was slowly improving my time in the Brab but was at the limit in the race, which I knew was a bad idea!  Sorry to Jethro on my rejoin after my off at the 3rd turn, I didn't see you until we made contact.  Then later on I spun out of copse and left you no where to go...

I am disappointed in my performance, but perhaps my performance showed my lack of praccy.

Bob.

I did wonder who that was the first time. No worries, just a shame I couldn't avoid you (both times, the Stowe collision I wish I could have seen earlier, but hey ho)!

Tried dialling in the Eagle in practice, but had issues with lots of oversteer making things interesting. Also got pole-axed twice in the pits when people kept bombing through it full chat without regard for those about to join.

As an aside, and a general note to all, please be careful in the pits during practice/qualifying for any race. Silverstone is a little unique in that the pits are separated by a barrier from the track, but there is still a slow and fast lane within that, and enough room for 2-wide. Some people had swapped the definition of slow and fast lane (at Silvy fast is on the left, slow is on the right) and collided with me - twice (once is bad enough, but twice is bordering on inexcusable). Also it may sound obvious but use your mirrors when joining!

Aside from that, I'm amazed I kept lap 1 clean compared to my, ahem, prior history. That said, it was a well contested affair, even with the two collisions with Bob. The Eagle had reasonable pace, and without damage I may have had a shout at a podium, but twas all mays and no pays.

Hope Joe was watching us and smiling. Smiley

Really glad to have won at least one for this Trophy, and tagged my name to it somehow, this will be one I will cherish. The fact that it was fast paced and hard fought against pretty tough competition only adds satisfaction to it, fitting tribute to Joe's racing style I would say!

Rather surprised to be starting on pole, as I thought Hristo was going to be there, for once I managed to be quick off the blocks and give it full beans right from the opening laps. It was no surprise when I saw Clive was the one behind me, we seem to be playing over and over a rather repetitive script, racing in close company practically every race for a while now! This time it was his turn to be the persistent chaser, until after the first third of the race I managed to nail a couple of good laps and shake him off my back. This track has a rather hypnotic flow to it, brake-turn right-gas, which tends to send you in a bit of a daze if you are running by yourself for a while. So, just when I was getting all confy and starting to flavour the imminent present of an unexpected win, I had to be abruptly woken up by my pitboard man, who rather anxiously (it seemed to me.. Wink) signalled me Juha was now behind me, and had already started making up some serious ground. No need to panic, 6 seconds in the lead and 8 laps to go, just need to stay calm. So, after a very  very near miss of a very slow and very smoking Honda sitting on the racing line, 2 or 3 excursions on the grass, and 3 straight laps in the 29s, I had a rather feisty JH right on my tailpipes  Roll Eyes. Fortunately, at that stage I had finally regained my cool and could start pushing with no more mistakes, 5 laps at full speed and a very close finish were to follow. Grats to JH and Clive for some very good racing, and to all who took part to the bitter-sweet event. Hope Joe has enjoyed the show up there  Wink.

I will see you at the next one guys, thank you for the racing.

Replays are uploading at the moment and will be done in the next ten minutes or so.

A big thank you to everyone who turned out for this one. It was great to see the regular Works crew joined by the returning Jethro and Tim, hopefully Hristo will be able to compete in the other two events as well. As Attilio showed though there's no substitute for track time and he continued his good recent form with another win. Someone will have to step up to prevent him getting his hands on the trophy which Joe's Dad has offered up for the series winner.

I enjoyed my race on the other server with the Privateers, plus guest driver Arf who provided a benchmark for us all in qualifying. Cookie kindly hosted on UKGPL8 at very late notice, however without a loose grid there was something of a pile up and I ended lap one in last place after starting second.

Like Arf I enjoyed picking my way through the field in the early laps. After a while Arf hit trouble at Club and I got past, leaving me to try and chase down Geoff's big lead. A spin at Chapel with two to go spoiled a potentially thrilling finish but it was great fun nonetheless. Well done to Geoff on taking full advantage of the start line melee.

See you all in two weeks when the Works boys are at Brands Indy and the Privateers battle resumes at Rouen.

Rubbish !

Same here Bernie!
I'd spent the afternoon playing stuck-in-the-mud with the kids and had ran myself harder than I have done in years with a result that by evening time I was shattered! By lap 4 I had lost all feeling in my legs and so pulled over and quit and went straight to bed!

Sounds like you had fun getting knackered  Grin

My excuse,  all day spent removing rose bushes then digging a friends garden over for him , then a long drive home from North wales , all after a night on the tiles  Roll Eyes

So not just the limbs numbed but sore eyes and head not fully connected to the outer extremities  Wink

Always swear "never again" but have to admit to not being very good at taking my own advice  Undecided

Incedentaly Arf was warping like crazy , thought it was my bad head seeing this fezzer suddenly appearing from nowhere,  first in front , then behind (OK I should have gone to specsavers )

Thought I could hear his engine at times but he was obviously racing in stealth mode . Lap2 , Arf who was obviously recovering from the lap 1 fiasco came up the outside into beckets ? and then dissapeared off into the boondocks , thought we touched but the replay shows it was warp, then later on in the race I think the same may have happened at stowe .

Just like Arf to know it was nothing personal , but the big insult was me being lapped "at Silverstone" . Oh the shame  :'(

Looking on the bright side , the next race has got to be better as it couldnt possibly be worse  Grin

A big thank you to everybody who was involved in this and for organising a terrific memorial to Joe.

I am arranging for a trophy for the overal series winner and if it could become an annual series I would be delighted to support it with ongoing server donations.

Joe's Dad

I'm honored to be taking part, and hope we're making a fitting tribute that he'd appreciate Smiley

Joe would probabably be a bit embarrased as he never wanted to be a centre of attention, although he loved getting on a podium. I suspect though that secretly he would be really delighted.
