All members welcome.

Grid/server capacity: 28

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (50 laps = ~50mins)

Cars allowed: Jaguar D-Type (1957 version only) Download this
                     Mercedes 300SL Download this

Track: Crystal Palace Circuit Download this

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk FIFT
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) Driver lists can be found on the Championship standings page
(4) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

A new addition to the LM55 stable has been posted at Nogrip, the Mercedes 300SL. Thought I'd add it to this event which is the last of the single spec races.

Please read the install instructions carefully. Just extract this file to your: GTL/GameData/Teams/GTC-65/Mercedes 300SL folder and NOT into the LM55 folder. You should then find a sub-folder called SL_LM55 within your Mercedes 300SL folder. In the SL_LM55 folder there is a file called Mercsounds.rar. Unzip this file into the same folder to get better engine sounds.

Just a small note on additional engine sounds.
It looks like you need to install another Merc to get the additional sounds working

Get the 300SEL here: http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=30775
Also the update here: http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=31286

Fortunately I got the sounds working without the update because  NoGrip has a 100 Mb at a time limit...

Thanks for the clarification Alex. I had missed that important point in the read-me  Roll Eyes

I already had the Merc 300SEL installed so didn't experience a problem. The sound thing isn't vital, you can race without it. It just adds some extra Oooh factor. mHopefully I've installed it on the server OK.

Replay and results now posted.

Due to the low turnout we agreed to run a shortened length race of 30 laps.

The track miss match was due to the server having a later revision of the track.

I was really looking forward to this one as Crystal Palace is one of my favorite old school tracks. Too bad for the low turnout. It was a ton of fun to keep the pressure on Mark for the whole race. I got close a few times but everytime I got within a passing possibility my rear tires started to get too hot and I had to back off a bit. Mark did a fantastic job keeping the D-type pointed in the right direction Cool. At one point going through the last set of corners Mark had a tank slapper that just went on and on Shocked. I thought for sure that was going to be it! But Mark held on and even pulled away after that big moment. Congrats on a well deserved win. Cheers to Kurt and Tony. Glad we ran it Wink.

Smiley Just had to race the Jag just for the engine sound. Grin Grin What did they fit in this car a WWII Spitfire engine? Its just a good job the race was 30 laps and not 50 or else my tyres may have got very second hand.  Shocked  Every time I thought I had got the measure of Navin with a gap of 3.5 sec Wooooow I hear you all say. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes ................ Some thing really scary would happen! As Navin mentioned in his report when the back end gets loose it gets very very loose, but oh what fun.  Grin Grin

Anyways we had some fun its just a pity about the low turn out................Still points is points!!!  Grin Grin
