Moderator's Report

Clive Gardner enjoyed a rare outing in a Ferrari, taking pole, victory and fastest lap, not to mention the lead in the points table. A number of drivers went out early on so traffic did not play as much of a part as expected. The returning Tim Muttram was second and John Roberts was third after the moderator penalised Ronnie Peterson and Bob Whitwell (see below).

Server replay time: 0h00m53s

Juha gets close to the back of Al into T1 and moves left to avoid contact. This takes him into Tom's path and light contact is made, sending Tom into the gravel.

Although this incident was careless on Juha's part, rather than reckless, one driver should not follow another so closely or switch sides of the track so quickly when in the middle of the pack at the first corner. Sudden changes of speed or direction are likely to trigger accidents.

Server replay time: 0h02m11s

Bob exits T3 much quicker than Hannah and tries to pass on the left. Bob achieves some overlap before Hannah moves over to block him and they collide.

It is advisable to follow a car for a lap or two before attempting to overtake, furthermore in the early laps of a race drivers are on cold tyres and therefore do not always take their usual line through a corner.

Bob should have exercised more caution especially given that he and Hannah were racing for position and that Bob's superior pace would have allowed him to pass before long.

The rules have this; "The overtaking car had NOT achieved a 50% or greater overlap at the point of turn-in. There was no loss of control by either driver. Penalty for overtaking driver."

Server replay time: 0h02m23s

Hannah recovers from the contact with Bob and sees a Lotus in his mirrors. Thinking it is Bob he lunges left to try and take revenge for their incident, but makes contact with the unlucky Tom who is also in a Lotus.

In the Etiquette section of the rules we have "Any driver who, by not complying with the rules, causes another car to crash or take severe avoiding action may be penalised." In addition the recommended Driver Behaviour states "Get off the track and out of the way ASAP if your car is non functional. If you crash, spin out, run out of fuel, whatever, so that you’re on the track but not moving or moving very slowly for where you are, then move off the track as quickly as you can. If in a Pro race where a Shift-R isn't possible, retire ASAP if that's the fastest way to clear the road in a particular circumstance." Not only did Hannah ignore this, he deliberately drove into another competitor with the express aim of ruining his race.

Server replay time: 0h03m22s

Hannah waits on the infield for Bob to come around on the next lap and tries to hit him but doesn't even get close due to the damage to his car.

No contact was made and Hannah has been excluded for prior behaviour.

Server replay time: 0h20m50s

Ronnie tries to pass John at T3 but has not achieved any overlap before John turns in. Ronnie is travelling faster than John and as John moves towards the apex contact is made sending John off.

The rules have this; "The overtaking driver had not achieved any degree of overlap at turn-in. The overtaking driver WOULD have made the corner. Penalty for overtaking driver."

We head south from Northants to Kent and the scenic undulations of Brands Hatch's Indy circuit. Joe scored two of his three Ginetta series podium places here and visited as spectator many times. With such a short lap traffic in both qualifying and the race is sure to be a factor here.

With apologies to a Mr Ceasar, of Rome

veni, vidi, warpi, effoffi

(I came, I saw, I had warp, I decided to do something else)

Is it something with this series' setting that is stopping me taking part? Haven't had these problems in Works/PSC recently

Sorry to the guys I binned, I spinned at T2 and tried to restart before the pack arrived, had I sat still I could have given them a chance to avoid me, rather silly move. Think the car was ok but retired in simpathy, wasnt feeling really racey anymore..Grats to eventual winner and all the finishers of this short but tricky track.

I got a touch by Juha in t1 who drifted wide after touching Al..just an accident and I was looking forward to fun. l2 Hannah tries to block a passing Bob by turning into him and gets the worst of it loosing one wheel. I wait patient for a standstill and let bob go first. while passing hannah he acc into me with one wheel missing . feel free to explain what you were thinking hannah..I saw the rpy from inside your car and I was very visible in your mirrors .
still hope you others have fun and do a proper race for Joe.I tried at least.

Grats to the winner Clive and the runner up Tim. Apologies to Hannah, Bob and John for any hindrance to your race/fun during qualifying or the race, sorry. Lot of action early on thinned the field a bit which was a shame. But I hope everyone and more are back for Oulton. Ciao and goodnight.

Opening laps - I was having a big scrap with Juha & we crested Druids almost two abreast to find Art facing the wrong way on the outside of the turn having gone off. Not sure if it was a rather hasty rejoin or if Art was simply trying to get out of the way of us all, but unfortunately his spin-turn to rejoin placed his stationary car right in my path... no way to avoid a collision & so game over for me. Shame as I felt confident of bringing it home for good points here.

I just watched this incident & it's not pretty. Especially when viewed from Hannah's car. I hope this isn't what it looks like...

Who ever it was was not going to get by on that turn and they decided to crash in to me.
As far as I could tell I was the second victim.
I was upset by this foolishness and tried to torpedo him off the track next lap.
This was supposed to be a fun race for Joe but it cannot be when this person is in a panic trying to get to where they think they deserve to be because they blew it in the first place.
I probably broke every driving rule however you cannot take a run at my goalie.

Apologies especially to the shaw family and to the memory of Joe because I retaliated when I thought it turned into a disgrace.

In my own defense I grew up laying hockey.

To Ronnie Peterson: no worries you are a nice person.

Hannah, I strongly suggest you take a look at the replay. There were two cars behind you & the driver you chose to "torpedo" (and swear at) had nothing at all to do with the earlier incident.

(Not that there's ever any justification for running anyone off the road).

This post makes no sense at all apart from you thinking Bob crash you out while it to me look like you turn into him to prevent him from doing a clean pass. Anyways I was just waiting behind you till you stopped spinning. and you torpedoed me passing you, not on the next lap. you succeeded in destroying my car. I had to exit.

This made me think Hannah..why do you talk about next lap? you already took me out and I went in to look again at rpy. And truely you do wait on the line to torpedo someone at l3 ..well you aimed for Bob this time , Bob who was glued to the inside line while you turned into him in the incident. you missed, but you kept waiting..my rpy stopped there

Guys - enough please. This is a moderated race and we will deal with the incidents in the usual way. Let me make it clear that we expect the HIGHEST standards of courtesy and driver behaviour. Drivers deliberately ruining somebody else's race can expect to be sanctioned severely and anyone taking 'revenge' action will also be penalised heavily. Please report the incidents in the usual way and it will be dealt with.

Let me also draw your attention to the fact that we strongly discourage swearing. It is forbidden in the forums and we do not want to see it in the chat room.
