Moderator's Report

Clive Gardner enjoyed a rare outing in a Ferrari, taking pole, victory and fastest lap, not to mention the lead in the points table. A number of drivers went out early on so traffic did not play as much of a part as expected. The returning Tim Muttram was second and John Roberts was third after the moderator penalised Ronnie Peterson and Bob Whitwell (see below).

Server replay time: 0h00m53s

Juha gets close to the back of Al into T1 and moves left to avoid contact. This takes him into Tom's path and light contact is made, sending Tom into the gravel.

Although this incident was careless on Juha's part, rather than reckless, one driver should not follow another so closely or switch sides of the track so quickly when in the middle of the pack at the first corner. Sudden changes of speed or direction are likely to trigger accidents.

Server replay time: 0h02m11s

Bob exits T3 much quicker than Hannah and tries to pass on the left. Bob achieves some overlap before Hannah moves over to block him and they collide.

It is advisable to follow a car for a lap or two before attempting to overtake, furthermore in the early laps of a race drivers are on cold tyres and therefore do not always take their usual line through a corner.

Bob should have exercised more caution especially given that he and Hannah were racing for position and that Bob's superior pace would have allowed him to pass before long.

The rules have this; "The overtaking car had NOT achieved a 50% or greater overlap at the point of turn-in. There was no loss of control by either driver. Penalty for overtaking driver."

Server replay time: 0h02m23s

Hannah recovers from the contact with Bob and sees a Lotus in his mirrors. Thinking it is Bob he lunges left to try and take revenge for their incident, but makes contact with the unlucky Tom who is also in a Lotus.

In the Etiquette section of the rules we have "Any driver who, by not complying with the rules, causes another car to crash or take severe avoiding action may be penalised." In addition the recommended Driver Behaviour states "Get off the track and out of the way ASAP if your car is non functional. If you crash, spin out, run out of fuel, whatever, so that you’re on the track but not moving or moving very slowly for where you are, then move off the track as quickly as you can. If in a Pro race where a Shift-R isn't possible, retire ASAP if that's the fastest way to clear the road in a particular circumstance." Not only did Hannah ignore this, he deliberately drove into another competitor with the express aim of ruining his race.

Server replay time: 0h03m22s

Hannah waits on the infield for Bob to come around on the next lap and tries to hit him but doesn't even get close due to the damage to his car.

No contact was made and Hannah has been excluded for prior behaviour.

Server replay time: 0h20m50s

Ronnie tries to pass John at T3 but has not achieved any overlap before John turns in. Ronnie is travelling faster than John and as John moves towards the apex contact is made sending John off.

The rules have this; "The overtaking driver had not achieved any degree of overlap at turn-in. The overtaking driver WOULD have made the corner. Penalty for overtaking driver."

You will find no support within our community for what you did.

I'm not condoning what Malcolm did and I'm sure the moderatores will judge him harshly and rightly so in the circumsatnces. But he has apologised for his behaviour and that apology has been accepted. He clearly feels he was on the receiving end from Bob earlier, racing incident for me, but he is entitled to his opinion whether he submits an incident report or not. Maybe its just time for the mods to do their job now so we can all move on.

Hmm.. I watched the replay for the first time and noticed that Bob had a problem with almost every driver he was near.

Ronnie Peterson and he had a nice little punch up entering the front straight. Good job Ronnie. He had no business going banzai on you and you were perfectly correct to punt him off the track to get your position back. I support you.

Here is the problem..submissions are based on differential thought and need to be integral thought. Hence a pattern, theme, or behavior will never be recognized.

That was really important and certain ( not all moderators ) are too dull to understand.

Now here is what is going to happen.

I am not going to submit an incident report because I  see it as pointless. My wheels were pointed straight for the exit of the turn a full second before Bob ran into me and a two place penalty does not make a difference to me when I cannot continue.

Finally, I am quitting racing. Thanks Bod and Bad Blood.

I was looking forward to the moderator's report which I though would be fair but now with another senior moderator publicly ranting the poison has set in and has been biased.
