Moderator's Report

No incidents whatsoever on the first lap, despite some close racing. Bernie had an exciting time but flew solo...

As there are no reported incidents, this is all there is for this moderation. I am well aware that there was an incident later on with about a million cars involved but if you don't report it, I can't know about it...

UKGPL Season 22 65 Intermediates Trophy
Race 9 Mosport

Welcome to the 9th round of the Intermediate Trophy for Season 22. Back to Papy tracks and an old favourite in the form of Mosport. Canada joined the Formula 1 circuit in 1967 at this track, as Mosport hosted the first Player's sponsored Canadian Grand Prix. Despite rain, the crowd was huge (58,000) as Jack Brabham drove to victory over another longtime Mosport Park favourite, Denny Hulme.

The complex was originally just one track-the 3.96 kilometre (2.459 mile) road course. Mosport has now grown to include four circuits on 750 acres of beautiful park land but we will be driving the challenging original with its mix of fast sweepers, long straights and tight corners, all whilst rapidly changing altitudes affect the driver's sight lines.

The first lap will be fully moderated within the red zone. The red zone will cover the whole the first lap up to the last corner.

Please check the Season 22 pages for details regarding rules and the Intermediates Trophy pages in particular.

Please see the Intermediates registration thread for an explanation of the chassis allocations shown below:
https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=10017.0

Please ensure that you take a valid chassis for your group. Cookie and I will be keeping an eye on you! THIS IS IMPORTANT AS THE CHASSIS GROUPINGS AND YOUR SEEDING HAS CHANGED. Please check the Intermediate Chassis thread.

My attendance tomorrow is very much dependant on a certain football match in Barcelona.

I understand the appeal from Martin failed. The knock on effect on the tightly contested championship is unfortunate or fortuitous for some!

Anyway real question, at 30 laps this race is likely to be slightly shorter than usual, any particular reason?

Serious dose of cramps in both hands and also in left leg  , not good with a dead leg hitting the clutch pedal instead of brake and wondering why the car doesnt want to stop , decided to retire rather than handicap the leaders who were about to lap me at any time , couldnt have driven much further anyway cos it wasnt going away  Undecided

Dc'd with 2 laps to go, while in P3  Roll Eyes .

Great stuff until then though.

With only 2 rounds of the championship to go, I'm kind of glad my presence didn't steal points form anyone who may have been chasing points, so maybe a DC was a fair result.

Really pleased with overall pace, and finishing with a best race lap of 1m27.269s, in the BRM :-)

Looking forward to Zandvoort

I tried a different car, for this race. and once racing, realized the Cooper could outbrake the Hondas, into 5A, and make up for lost ground around the track.  Gaining the right amount, was the problem,  I clipped David, while challenging for 2nd, and it was Geoff's turn later on.  My replay suggests megawarp, that actually caused contact, after some serious swerving.  Sorry guys - not a helpful happening, and no warning of trouble in earlier practice Huh

I soldiered on, less happy.  Spent much time just outside of Ross H's slipstream.  Impressive performance there - fate was not kind.  Well done, Cookie and David!  I'm moving house next week, and hoping for more speed, on and off the track. Undecided

Grats David and Martin for the podium thumbup1 thumbup1 thumbup1

Well done Ross in your first race with us! A shame you discoed!

Ronnie we missed you!!!

Mosport is a track I allways avoided to drive, as I feared those lots of dangerous turns...

I've also tried the easier to drive Cooper, with the same laptimes, but the Honda gives me a bit more thrill to drive Wink
In the pre race practice sessions I did lots of long runs with heavy fuel to find my line.
I finaly found it and its definitely not the black line!

Quali was a fight with David who made such a good lap, so I had to do another stint to beat him...

Race was hot for the first 10 laps as I could not esacpe my followers David and Martin who allways caught me in the horror sector around Moss.
But their battle gave me a gap and for the rest of the race I had to keep concentrated to not do any mistake.
I succeeded...
Sorry Ronnie for your no show, I had expected a big battle

Grats to Axel, Dave and Martin. Just about to enter qualy when the phone rang to reveal a minor family emergency. It got sorted but not in time for me to get back before the race had started. Well done again to the podium and see you all at Zandvoort.

Like Cookie wrote, it was a hard battle for the pole position.
I thought I had it when finally Cookie took the best time for 0,16 sec.

The 2 or 3 first laps (not 10, Axel) was a hard battle between Axel, Martin and me, and my objective was to make a hard pressure on Axel until he did a mistake.

But I had not enough time to do that ... because, on my road, I found a crazy dog Wink  and I lost my last chances to win the 65 intermediate championship (after Ronnie and Maxime were DNS).

Well done to Cookie on being the inaugral Inters champion (unless I mod you out of it Axel!  Cheesy).

There isn't anything in the Red Zone so Rainier needs to look really hard for an incident or two...  Wink

No incident on red zone (=whole FIRST lap)
the 2 or 3 first laps were a hard and nice battle, then ...
