Moderator's Report

Incident packed and possibly a few road rage incidents....

Some of the drivers were very busy in the Stewards room. It would be better for all if we could try and give some respect.

Couple of incidents in qually - which is unusual but we do not apply the same standards in qualification as we do to the race - nothing doing there.

In general terms, it is not worth reporting anything where you have been blocked unless the car in front is weaving. Difficult not to weave on a track like this.

Lots of incidents reported but not much actual contact.

I think that some of the reports were unhelpful and there seems to be a small feud brewing. All drivers are reminded that we expect drivers to conduct themselves in a gentlemanly manner. If in doubt, back off and if somebody does something wrong, report it and we'll deal with it.

Close racing but let's keep things calm boys...

Server replay time: 0h00m04s

Roberto gets a good run on Tristan but Magic closes the door late. Roberto does well to back off. Good hard racing.

Server replay time: 0h00m22s

Alex gets a good start and slips between Tris and Cookie. As they enter the first corner Alex jinks left which is extremely alarming from Tristan's POV. He brakes and is a little compromised.

Alex had the pass and was within his rights but a gentler move to the left would have been more helpful to Tristan.

Behind them Clouds loses it somewhat under brakes and collects Evil who in this case should be named Innocent. Sadly carnage ensues and several drivers are caught up but that was all follow on.

This could have all been easily avoided.

Drivers are reminded that on full tanks and cold tyres, sharp moves are inherently risky and should certainly be avoided at T1, even if you have the skill to pull it off!!!

Server replay time: 0h03m50s

Cookie leaves the door open and loses some control, Tristan aims for the gap but they come together as Cookie pushes back towards the apex.

Server replay time: 0h05m03s

Roberto feels that Tristan is blocking him but Tristan doesn't make it easy to get past and he doesn't weave so although Roberto got a better exit, he couldn't make the pass so is obligated to back off - that is racing.

Server replay time: 0h22m50s

Tris gets a good run on Piero and looks to pass into a diminishing gap as Piero moves left. This is the classic example where the lead driver needs to be cautious about closing the door as the car following is in his blind spot. As with Diamante and Spa this could have been avoided with more co-operative driving.

Server replay time: 0h23m49s

Tris is still following Piero and leaves his braking late, because he gets onto the grass he manages to clip Piero from behind. Whilst it is clear that Tristan did not intend to hit Piero and gave the place back immediately, he is at fault here.

The rules have this: "The victim made no mistakes and was driving their normal line at normal speed. The shunter had lost control on the approach to the braking zone and consequently braked later than intended."

As Tristan gave the place straight back, I am going to mitigate the penalty.

Season 22 - Porsche Super Cup
Race 9, Salzburgring

The race track was first opened in 1968. Lying in a narrow, alpine valley, it has a rather simple layout, with two long straights plus the sweeping and fast "Fahrerlagerkurve" ("paddock turn") at the bottom, and the narrow "Nockstein-Kehre" on the top. In spite of its simple layout, it garnered a fearsome reputation for the high speeds reached on the straights and the "Fahrerlagerkurve". Aussie 500cc great Wayne Gardner won here in 1987 on his way to Australia's first modern motorcycle racing World Title. This track is fearsomely fast, even in the Porsche, at some points of it's layout. Should be fun!.

Due to declining numbers, we will run this race on ONE SERVER only.

Please check the Season 22 pages for details regarding rules and the Porsche Super Cup pages in particular.

I just found that this race will be 43 laps ~ 60min at a 1:21 laptime.

Is this intended?

Just for making things clear. Is it allowed to wave during engagements making a block for drivers that have an opportunity to overtake ?
Ultimately it seems to be a practice I've seen often.  Tongue

We have this rule in our Etiquette section....

"Blocking is not allowed, but defensive driving is allowed.

If a driver moves off the racing line before the car behind attempts to overtake, this is defensive driving.

If they move off the racing line after the car behind has started to move across to overtake, this is blocking. If a driver is driving defensively they may move off the line and back onto it only once per straight/section".

Did I mention in the mid season review that the Porsche Super Cup had descended into a joke this season? Well boy am I laughing after that collective shambles into the first bend  Roll Eyes Early bath for me, commiserations to anyone else whose race was short lived and good luck to those still running. Ciao.

I was victim of the same accident, J. Blito bumbed in to me.
Looking at the replay, Jason could not see the accident (and me) because of the bend there.
To bad, was looking forward to this race!!
Sorry Alex no points from me.

Yeah proper shambles that Ronnie (Ray).  I just managed to stop before running into the carnage, but you've guessed it, those behind didn't and about 3 cars smashed into me.  For a split second I thought I had no damage....how naive!  As soon as I revved the engine it was clear summat was amiss.  I thought it was engine trouble and soldiered on with a slow car, only managing 4th gear at the end of the straights.  About 2 laps later I was out of fuel, so I assume the damage knackered my tank(s)...ho hum.

Looking at the replay it seems one driver (nameless for the minute) hadn't seen the carnage and steamed into the cars that then hit me..

Very competitive times and a very close grid.  Can't win it on the first lap so why the big rush into T3?  I got caught up in the road block but luckily my car survived the carnage.  I was making good progress until a screen freeze on about lap 10?  Pity, with all the crashes I was probably set to pick up some decent points!

I think my screen freeze was probably because I had the graphics detail turned up too high.  It doesn't seem top matter how good a computer you have, it isn't wise to put the graphics above half way.

Grats to the finishers (if there are any).

Sorry to miss all the goings on here. Crap night at the job and a very late finish put the clamps on my race. Sounds interesting though.......

Sorry 'bout that Pedro - I was well aware of the potential for trouble at the hairpin and actually had gone on the brakes quite early but as you have rightly guessed the accident ahead was out of my vision and there was nothing more I could have done to have avoided joining it Sad
