Moderator's Report

No reported incidents for this final race even though it was an endurance finale to the season.

The standard of driving and behaviour in this season's GT championship has been truly excellent and I thank all of you for your sportsmanship and for making my job of moderation very easy. I have tried to watch each car, through each race, in every round, just to check that everyone behaved and carried out their SnG's after resets. I don't think that I missed anyone.

There have been plenty of close fought battles in all of the races but despite some very competitive racing there were no incidents that required serious moderation.

Congratulations to the TEAM winners GT International and to Mark who certainly had the MK2 Ford setup really well for all the races.

Preparations are already under way for Season 23 GT's and I hope we have the same good clean racing and some great battles.

UKGPL Season 22 GT Teams Championship
Race 10 Carthage

The final race in this seasons GT Team Championship is out amongst the sand dunes, where the bigger cars can blow dust in the faces of the smaller competitors whilst dodging stray camels.
The Porsches and Mk1 Fords might be looking for a good draft around here, but with such long high speed sections it might develop into a 2 class race again.
Note that as this is the last race of the season we have a slightly longer event, so make sure that you top up with fuel and water.

The point at which the racing will start on the rolling lap will be as cars take the small left kink just before the start line

Please check the Season 22 pages for details regarding rules and the GT Teams Championship pages in particular.

Reserve drivers should not join the server until there are only 30 minutes of qualifying left so as to give the FULL TIME drivers chance to join, and drivers are not to go out on track until there are 30 minutes of qualifying left as this helps all drivers join the server successfully.

Please restrict chat to pit messages if necessary, and this includes the end of the race, until all running drivers have completed the necessary laps.

The GT races are run under Int Long rules and there will be full moderation of lap one Red Zone and reported incidents for the rest of the race, however the moderators reserve the right to review any incident. Drivers are reminded that they are limited to ONE Shift-R

Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.

Race date = 25/03/2011
Time = 21:00 UK time
Track = Carthage
Variant = GT mod

Qualifying time = 30 minutes
Race length = 26 laps

There will be rolling starts for all races with full moderation of both the warm-up and first lap.

Guidelines for rolling starts...

The car on pole will lead off the grid and maintain a steady pace for the 1st lap around 175kph
All drivers should form up in single file behind him leaving 3-4 car lengths between each car.
There is NO OVERTAKING on the 1st lap until the exit of the last corner.
It is the reponsibility of the lead car to ensure that all drivers are with him as he approaches the final corner.
Racing and overtaking begin AFTER the exit of the last corner, so you may overtake between the exit of the last corner and the S/F line.

Any driver who loses his position on the rolling lap, by going off, blowing his engine or through contact with another car ( regardless of fault) must rejoin at the back of the field.
Incidents on the rolling lap ( Lap 1) will be fully modded and anyone found to have caused another competitor to lose position through bad driving will be penalised appropriately.
Also, please make sure that you know which car you should be following on the rolling lap, so that you do NOT get out of position.

The teams have been chosen and the cars are polished and ready to go.

excuse evil,  26 laps is correct? The average speed for one lap is over 3 minutes, so the race should last 80 minutes ...

Last event is 90 min. race, as in last season; and 26 laps are ok, according this.
I only suggest to start race after exit "A la Marsa" bend, it's more safe for all, imho.

Alex is correct. This is a the last race and is longer as it says in the race post..

"Note that as this is the last race of the season we have a slightly longer event, so make sure that you top up with fuel and water."

The heat , the sand and the flies might test some of the cars durability , to say nothing of the driver's?

We could have allowed the race to start from "A la Marsa", but I thought that we would allow all the cars to form up in a rolling grid until we get to that left kink. There is still about a kilometre of straight after we cross the start line, so everything should spread out before T1.

Apologies to my team mates Donni and Jason but I can't make this one but given that it is my turn to take the Porsche I doubt my presence would make any difference at this track!

Thanks to Clive for organising the GTs this season.  It is a difficult championship to get right but given the standings in the championship are pretty even it looks like Clive got it just about right (although I wish we'd had a few more tokens to spend on a faster 3rd car Roll Eyes )

Good luck Team Green, we have a chance to overhaul the Clark-Hill Racing and get off the bottom of the table (if they don't turn up Wink )

Can you clarify what track we're racing? Carthage 35 or Tripoli as for the registration thread?
Just to be sure what track I have to install on server.

Sorry to learn that my Supremo, Phil, won't be able to make the season finale.  Thanks for recruiting me this season, PT.  It was great fun!  And yes indeed, my thanks to Clive for organizing.

As I'd mentioned earlier in the Reims GT thread, I've been contemplating giving this Carthage round a miss to attend the season opener of club races at Mosport.  The odds were 50-50 at the time.  I'm now thinking that it's more like 75-25 against so I may get to drive the big Mk2 after all.  Smiley

The Mosport gig is off.  Looks like I'll be free to enter the Ford Mk2 for Team Green.
