Congrats Evil on the double whammy      thumbup2

Some impressive lap times in both chassis

I was an admitted nervous wreck at the start of both races. For a while I was sitting on pole for the first race and was praying for someone to knock me off. First Goran and then Evil bettered their times to put me third. Much better and I was able to breath a bit before the start. The start seemed clean and I slotted in behind Goran with Skymole on my gearbox. As Evil drove off into the sunset I found myself in a nice race with Goran. The Fezza had a slight top speed advantage but the draft kept me close. No real chance to try a safe pass anywhere and I was content to ride home third. With a few laps to go I saw a wisp of smoke trailing the Ferrari. Poor Goran had to pull off and I was promoted to p2 with a decent gap to p3. Was tempting to try for a pb but all I managed was to Almost remove the left side at West Bend. Nice race guys and thanks for the courtesy on track.

Race #2 was not as good as I found the Ferrari a handful. I set my best quali time with race fuel so was surprised to start p2. The initial launch was good but things went downhill from there. I was sideways three or four times in the first lap. Sorry to those behind, especially Fulvio. I gathered myself and set off in pursuit. The Fezza warmed up and I was able to keep it on the track for the most part after that. At the end I caught Cookie's draft and the last laps were fun trying to close up on him.

Grats Evil, Fulvio, and Goran

Thanks to everyone for the courtesy on track

Peace

First thanks for some great fun last night guys and to all those who were racing.

Robert John ( not to be confused with John Roberts!..I see that as potential for many misunderstandings in the future  lol) also joined us and showed that he is very quick   Shocked..welcome Robert, or is it John?? blink

Also a big "welcome back" to Diki Waza and some very respectable results for someone who has been away for so long. clap

After last nights races  I am beginning to get worried. sweatdrop I think you guys are allowing me to win these races and setting me up for a huge shock when season 23 starts!! and I am stuck in one of the slower cars   shifty

When the F2 mod was released I did not have time to try all the cars and really get to grips with how to drive them. I joined a couple of fun races at Breasts and slightly tweaked the Default setup, but without any great commitment or success.

When Axel suggested this short fun series of races and it looked like UKGPL was going to run a full series next season, I thought maybe it would be a good excuse to really try these cars.

Just before the 1st race I spent half an hour playing with setups for the 2 cars that were being used and found what I felt was a reasonably comfortable solution that I could drive, because for me, the default just did not seem right..

How was I to know that it was going to allow me to lap very quickly compared to everyone else??? Undecided What was even more scary was that when I copied the same setup to the other cars it worked just as well.!!!

Last night we had the 2 "oddball" cars from the F2's which I expected to bring me down to earth with a bump! I admit I spent an hour on Sunday playing with these 2 setups and gearing until I felt that they were at least easy to drive, but the setups always felt that I was losing time in corners and should have been a second or so faster. So, I entered the server expecting to be mid grid, maybe a little higher.

As usual, I did qually on full race fuel just to be sure that I had a good feel for the car and its limits, but both times found myself on pole!! I was truly not expecting to anywhere near that position. Roll Eyes

Well, as I was on pole there really was only one thing to do...just get my head down and go as fast as I could in true Waza style Grin
I think the guys behind must have held themselves up by arguing over 2nd place, because I slowly eased away.

This time I tried very hard NOT to go for lap records etc and just concentrated on getting to the end of the race.
Thanks to all of those I was lucky enough to lap for easing off and making it easy, just sorry it interrupted your race.

First of all thanks for the welcome guys. I feel as if I know you all because I've lurked around this forum for quite some time. I've read many a race report and other topics as well. Still not sure if I'm supposed to apologize for an on track indescretion.  Huh    Grin

Ah yes, John Roberts, my EVIL alter ego.   laugh    If I had a nickle for every time I was called John Robert, John Roberts, Robert Johns, etc..  The #1 question I've been asked in my life  "Your last name is John?"

I can assure you all that John and I are not one in the same. I'm a bit older and better looking I'm sure while John is more cantankerous   laugh  and quicker behind the wheel.  We were in a race last week @Zandvoort in the ADC if anyone needs some documentation. Just remember fellas that If JR has pee'd you off in the past, it wasn't me.   angel

These F2's are the most fun to drive of all the Mods, IMO, and I think they help level the playing field to a degree. I haven't spent much time in a 67 lately but I'm beating my GPLrank times at several tracks with these F2's. Folks who aren't trying these are missing out I think.

Hope to see you all @Silverstone

Peace

RJ
