WELCOME TO THE UKGPL SEASON 23 HISTORIC (66) TROPHY

For the first round we go to UK. The Thornham Circuit, although a fantasy, is nice and easy, a good place to start a season, or maybe it is full of hidden difficulty, maybe better be aware.

There will be full moderation of lap one Red Zoone and reported incidents for the rest of the race. Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.

The Red Zoone is from start to after Broad Lane Corner.

Reserve drivers should not use the server between 35 and 30 minutes of qualifying if it is full, to allow full timers to join.

Please restrict chat to a minimum, (or maybe none).

Do not rely on luck.

A few notes at the beginning of the season.

First, due to some drivers interest in football the start of this race has been delayed 30 min so the race will start at 22.00 UK time. Quali will start no later than 21.30 UK time.

The handicap system is basically the same as last season but for it to kick in this season a driver must be 8 points ahead for a Group II car and 16 points ahead for a Group I car, so no handicap for at least the first two rounds. Also now three drivers might be handicapped instead of two last season.

Still you need to complete at least 50% race distance to score points.

We also have some new penalties for this season. If you mess up a lot you might have to take a S/G or start at the back of the grid for the next race.

So I expect you all to drive safe, like you would in real life, and most important: DO NOT RELY ON LUCK!

Time to start your engines!

Göran

With an early start for work each morning, normal quali/race start times of 21.00/21.30 UK time are bad enough. So I'm not exactly over the moon about the late start, why not earlier?? I'm not after your sympathy but I have none whatsover for anybody desperate not to miss Englands next inept display.

I should've included a Wink when I suggested a late start. I don't have any objections if you want to hold it at the usual time, but I just feared we'd get a pretty lousy turnout.

Do you footy fanatics not have video recorders these days  Roll Eyes

I could understand wanting to watch the game "live" , but viewing on telly is exactly the same experience no matter when you watch it (unless you plan watching it in the pub with your mates then please have a pint on me )  Wink

Hadn't noticed how late the start was - I'm in the silly o clock start for work camp so Especially after last weekend think I'm going to have to skip this round and take an early night instead Sad

Knew I had good reasons to hate football..  Roll Eyes

I'll skip this one because of the delayed start: I usually wake up at 5 am UK time...

I was enjoying this, span in front of Nigel - did I take you out mate? One pass on Bernie that I will dine out on and then span at the first chicane. Diki was putting on tons of pressure so I employed the Waza haybale turn... Caught the pie man up again and slid into the bales at the same place. I was slow but it was fun.

Oddly GPL crashed when I got stuck but despite the 20th century council estate feel the track was fun.

Sorry to anyone I baulked in Qually, especially Clive who I let past and then bashed... oops.

Another good track. Don't know how you do it Goran... I am very happy with the Swedes tonight!

Slight loss of concentration and in the fence  :'( ah well was OK while it lasted. Was getting an odd graphical "feature" at the second hairpin - cars seemed to disappear and reappear other than that good fun.

Deeply frustrating. I lost it early on in the race and spent the rest of it fighting through the pack. Was making pretty good progress until my sodding wheel came off my desk on lap 9  censored. The resulting spin and crash lost me all the time I'd gained against the leading quartet. I never regained my composure, and another crash a lap later was enough for me.

Apologies Bernie for the contact at the hairpin if that was you. I have not seen the replay. I was cruising in the lead when I came across two back markers on the long straight on the lead up to the vicious hairpin, Broad lane Corner? The first let me through before the hairpin, the second (yourself I assume) carried on to the hairpin. I approached carefully breaking earlier than normal, but when I arrived you were still there. That corner is tight even for one car and I really had no chance of avoiding you. My race was at an end and I'm sorry that I ended your race as well, particularly as you say you had not got to 10 laps.

Grats to the eventual podium of Goran, Al and Clive.
