Moderator's Report

In a similar vein to the opening round at Silverstone, Hristo Itchov romped to victory whilst an entertaining battle went on behind for the other podium places.

Al Heller held second for a long time but a charging Doni Yourth passed him near the end, leaving Al to fend off newcomer Robert John - just - for third place.

Server replay time: 0h01m45s

Bob is warping all over the place and reappears in Bartosz's cockpit, damaging Bartosz's car and forcing him to retire.

Server replay time: 0h01m51s

John spins and Ross tries to take avoiding action, but light contact bounces him into the barrier and he loses a wheel, forcing him to retire.

It might be my fault Attilio, I don't have rar software so create a zip and rename it to rar. I've never had any problems opening them but that might explain it, try renaming to .zip and see how you get on.

What are you using to open it Art? I use WinRAR to pack these up so if you have a problem, let me know and I will re-do it for you. I actually download and extract all the replays to check they work but Works is the only one that runs on GPG so there may be an oddity there. I''ll check that one specifically tonight.

In the meantime, try downloading a Novice replay and see if that is OK. If it is, you can be certain that UKGPL3 and you are fully compatible.

Grats to Hristo for a dominating win!  He had everyone well covered in a textbook drive.

While P1 was never in doubt, P2 was up for grabs and just by the grace of the gods, it fell into my lap.  It just as easily could have been Al or Robert standing on the second step of the podium.  As it was, Al grabbed P3 and RJ a close P4.

My drive was atrocious!  In scoping GPLRA's Mechanical Report, I scored entries on laps 5, 7, 11 & 24 with fully nine lines of code.  Mother of Mercy!  That I survived has to be a fluke!

Of course, there were other runners up front who fell afoul of the tight confines.  Bad luck for Triple-A as he got no further than the first corner by managing to get stuck in the haybales.  Sam...who's BRM had a lousy connection and was bouncing around madly and at times, disapperaring altogether...having a spin and losing a wheel in the sweeps early on.  Art clipping a guardrail and ditto as per Sam.

Lap 21 was a pivotal one as positions P2 thru P4 were covered by a span of just three seconds.  That was Al leading RJ leading moi.  An unlucky bobble by Robert had him spin and I was by for P3.  Ditto for Al on L25 as the smallest error let me thru for P2.  Hey!  Lucky or not!  I'll take it!   Smiley

Thanks guys. It doesnt let me change the extension for some reason, not sure whats going on there..I am using WinZip14, and yes the download of the last novices' race works fine. The problem lays either with the server or with Ross' renaming the file I suppose, Paul it would be good if you could double check when you have time. Thx.

And yes, grats to H for another doninant win and to the other survivors, hope to have another shot soon at racing on here, it's a really fun track, albeit unforgiving as you like. hammer

It should do, just right click in Windows Explorer and choose rename. If you can't see the extension, choose Tools, Folder Options, View, and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types".

Well, there's no substitute for practice I guess. I have spent all weekend moving house and it was a complete rush job to be able to attend last night. Sadly, I also found out the hard way that the internet connection in my new accommodation is nothing short of atrocious! Despite having a wired connection, my latency ratings rocketed throughout the race. The wonders of shared accommodation were bearing fruit once again  Roll Eyes.

Apologies to Doni who had to bear the brunt of my warping. My short race was fun, but I couldn't help but feel aggrieved at the warping cars around me. My latency bars would be rock solid for half a lap, then sky rocket afterwards. I tried to find a way past Art but simply couldn't. Not before I lost the back end and ploughed into the barrier anyway  Wink.

I'll be unable to attend the historic race tomorrow so I'll see what my connection is like in the GT race this Sunday. If its anywhere near as bad as last race, I will be forced to either give up this season or arrange my own private internet connection within the same house. I'm hoping its the latter  Smiley. See you all on the next race.

That was a very hard-fought 3rd place with both Doni & Robert chasing me down for most of the race sweatdrop

Qualifying: Suffered the dreaded screen-freeze during Q & after a frantic reset, had a bit of trouble settling down & putting a lap together. Relieved to grab 2nd on the grid in the dying moments, especially as T1 looked like it could get a bit crowded mid-pack on the opening lap.

Race: With Hristo scooting off ahead during the early laps, I concentrated hard on trying to nail down 2nd place, under pressure from first Bob & then Art. After both of them snagged those unforgiving barriers, I found myself with a useful 10 sec lead over the guys behind - but any hopes of a nice relaxing cruise to the finish went out of the window as I noticed Doni & Robert were reeling me in at a furious rate of knots. Having stuffed my car into the barriers during the fun race here, I wasn't confident about running right on the ragged edge, but with Doni & Robert posting consistent low 1:34's, it was beginning to look like my nice comfy 2nd was destined to become 4th hammer By lap 26, the game was finally up & Doni swept past me after I was a bit hesitant getting through lapped traffic & then ran a little wide at one of the hairpins. While Robert had dropped back after a minor bump, he soon got a whiff of that final podium place & was looming ever larger in my mirrors. Having held a podium spot since the start of the race, it would have been a bitter pill to have lost 3rd on the final lap but I just about hung on until the end. One more lap & it might have been a different story...

Congrats to Robert, Hristo on the win, Doni for a terrific drive to 2nd (not bad for an Amateur GT driver Wink I know, let it go...) & all other finishers.

Congrats to Hristo, Doni, and Al

A great result for me.   Smiley

Happy to be in the hunt for a podium on a track I recently felt was too much for a 67. Doni drove extremely well once he was settled. He pushed me towards Al and I was bummed to spin out of 3rd. I was driving as hard as I could so some mistakes are acceptable considering the circumstances. Luck was on my side and I finished within sight of Al. The car was tough and survived some armco contact. Pro rules are intense. Glad to be driving with you all.

Nice race with Evil in the early laps. Always a challenge to race with Doni. He and I have shared the track in hundreds of races over the years. Well done.

Hristo in the 1:32's with a Waza !  That's impressive   thumbup2

Great consistency Al.   clap    I'm happy that we had a fine race. Sort of soothes the sting of the Fun Race result. Well done.

Thanks for sharing the track all

Peace

RJ
