(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules. (3) Driver lists can be found on the Championship standings page(4) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read Autopit="0" Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable. Special Notes: None

So - what sort of lap time would be acceptable? I have tried the D-Type and it is TOUGH! It would be good to be able to ignore the chicanes...

A sub 3 min lap would be about right at a guess but I can tell you more after I have practised sometime this weekend. BTW if you think the Jag is a beast you should try the big engine Maserati, that's really scary

Sub-4 might be more like it The cars feel SO different to GPL and I am finding it VERY hard to get them to turn in at speed. DBR1 steering feels really loose and the D-Type amazingly heavy - is that normal. And do these things have mirrors? I just have grey blobs...

Wow - this is hard - haven't made Curva Grande once without hitting the gravel and every time I slow for Variante della Rogia I spin Tips for Novices welcome. I thought I was bad at GPL! Novice settings are driveable though - lol

And do these things have mirrors? I just have grey blobs...
Options/Game/Tick box "Mirrors" or for virtual mirror (not using car mirrors but provided large rectangle at top of screen showing view behind go to Options/Advanced/Tick box "Virtual Mirror". BTW You should be able to run all Graphic settings at max if you have a modern PC. When this Sim was produced a high end graphics card had 512MB onboard memory!

Er Thanks - I had Virtual Mirrors ticked but it seems that GTL doesn't always want to remember my settings. I also find that some buttons aren't available sometimes. I couldn't adjust Toe Im at the rear as there were no +/- buttons - came out, went back in all ok. Odd.

Have to say, this is FUN. However, it is a TOTALLY different style to GPL. If I try trail braking in GTL, the car won't turn in. Essential in GPL. As soon as I stopped applying Gas in the braking zone the car stopped on a sixpence... Such a different game. Now chaps, come and join us in GPL... As my best lap of Monza is 3:14 in the Aston DBR1 (I can find six or seven seconds on that now that I have discovered the brakes ) I may be a bit of a roadblock. Be gentle with me.

I wouldn't worry to much about your times, we have all sorts racing with us.
But odd that you don't consider it like GPL as some have definately made the comparison. I think the Aston is the most well behaved of the cars available so probably a good choice to start with.
Have you been online yet to test that you can join OK?

Yes thanks Tony. Joining was a breeze. For the race password do I have to register or anything?
Behaviour is somewhat similar but GTL appears to treat the Accelerator/Brake as a single axis so that unless you take your foot right off the gas, braking is ineffective. Once you take the gas off it stops very quickly indeed. Trying to trail brake into the corners I was getting 3:16 at best. I am in to the 3:10 somethings now but still learning the braking points. May be a specific controller issue.
Not sure. Heaps of fun though.

Are we supposed to be using the modern chicane? I assumed not..... And with only two laps each I get 2:57 for 5.7 Mazzer, and 3:04 for DBR2

You will need the race password to join on race night only. No registration necessary.
