Moderator's Report

Tight circuit with a Red Zone extending beyond the end of Lap 1. We nearly made it all the way through but your Moderator had an exciting time.

Server replay time: 0h00m34s

Badblood has a slight touch with Giovani as they both go round the hairpin for the first time. Neither driver did much wrong and racing this tight can result in contact.

Server replay time: 0h01m20s

Phillipe outbrakes himself at T1, Lap 2 but manages to bounce round the corner in front of a startled Giovani.

Server replay time: 0h01m24s

Nigel gets a bit excited as the Red Zone mist descends and leaves his braking very late. Using Badblood's slightly cautious Honda as a hand brake doesn't work and they both end up on the sidelines. Wasn't Lap One though!

The third race of the Novices Trophy season sees us move to Germany. This is easily the shortest track in the season and should promote close racing. The track is often compared to Monaco because of its proximity to water (the lake "Dutzendteich") and its location inside a large city - the German Monaco (Fränkisches Monaco).

For this race the Novices will undertake 40 (yes, 40!!!) laps. For this race, only the leader in the series is handicapped as he has been so dominant. Rob therefore has to use the BT7 which may not prove to be much of a handicap at all here.

Please be careful to get the right track as the wrong track can seriously corrupt your GEM season! The track is available from the link below.

Handicap
Rob Venn (Rotaxmax) - BT7

Please check the Season 23 pages for details regarding rules and the Novices Trophy pages in particular.

Qualifying may start before 9pm, if so, Reserve drivers should leave the server when 35 minutes of qualifying remains and only rejoin when 30 minutes of qualifying is left. This is to ensure that Full Time drivers get priority in joining.

Please restrict chat to pit messages if necessary, and this includes the end of the race, until all running drivers have completed the necessary laps.

The Novice Trophy races are run under Int Long rules and all incidents in the Lap 1 red zone will be moderated. Only reported incidents for the rest of the race will definitely be checked, however the moderators reserve the right to review any incident. Drivers are reminded that they must take a Stop'n'Go for every Shift-R. The Red Zone will cover the whole of the first lap and exceptionally T1 in the second lap where the field should still be tight.

Please ensure you are aware of the new in-series penalties for this season. Details are here. Drivers incurring a penalty will receive a PM informing them of this."

Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.

I must have been quite keen when I put the calendar together - it was based on GPL Rank times.

Having done some AI races I think anyone will be doing well to average 58-59 seconds. 40 minutes race, therefore 40 laps.

I don't like this track at all, it doesn't suit me at all. I'm not looking forward to this race as I have no pace, and what little pace I do have is all over the place.

Have we raced on this track before, because I think it's going to be a crash fest.

I too expect lots of crashes and out braking will be the order of the day, I can manage a 56 lap with the odd high 55 but my main aim is to preserve my engine and finish.

Better than me... best is mid 56 but usually 57's and 58's with an average of 1.00

Realise the track might not be to every taste but this is to test some different skills... hope it works.

Wasn't looking forward to the race, but I was looking forward to racing, so a bit gutted I've got PC problems.

Wheel was funny during whole of Quali, I rbooted and it was a little better but just before the race the force feed back went pop. Just needs a reboot but no time. Tried to race without and it's so alien to me I would of been un safe.

Hope everyone else had a good race, and I'll be there for the next one.

That is really bad luck Johnny. You were a class apart here.

My race effectively ended at the end of the Red Zone. Having warned every one to be careful I ended up being the only one who had to reset after a crash...

The Waza team were just comparing notes at the end of Lap 1 when we found ourselves aflame in the barrier... Nigel was very late on the brakes and the pass wasn't his best Wink

Set about chasing down but although I managed to actually increase my lead over Rob and Gio after Johnny had passed me, I couldn't stay with him. I had hoped he might pull me round to Nigel, BIP and Billy but although I managed to catch the first two, by the time Bill was the next car up he had a lead of 0.56 miles and I only had 12 laps left... could I do it... nope. At the end he had a lead of 0.56 miles  Cheesy

Not quite as much close racing as I had hoped and I, for one, won't be rushing back here.

See you all in September when, in a slight change, Spa is being swapped with the unconfirmed track. So next round, Belgium.

Think the BT7 might just have an effect on Rob there!

BIG CONGRATS to Phillipe on his first Podium and Fastest Lap.

I feel your pain, I didn't get to start the race but all of my pratice has been wasted for this track. I was looking forward to having a good race with you, as I think my race pace would of been somewhere near to yours. It's not a nice feeling when it goes wrong, but it makes the highs seem even better (I hope).

Looking forward to Spa, I tried a few laps last night but my wheel is still not right. I'll give it another chance but it's on it's last chance now.

I did quite a lot of practice for this track and it really helped me as I got my first pole. I was slow away in the race but that didn't surprise me as I had a big first gear for the race and Rob shot past me. After a lap or two I started to try and reel him in and got inside at the first hairpin several times but couldn't make it stick, I eventually passed him using horse power and made a nice lead until my pc stopped and I sat in silence. Well done to the podium especially philipe

Il sera Spa Phillippe.

We will swap Spa and Syracuse (tbc) for the next rounds. This is so that if Syracuse is swapped out for another track (Riverside possibly) there will be time to announce it properly. Hope everyone is ok with that.

Spa 11/09
Syracuse (or possibly Riverside 71) 25/09
