The third race of the Intermediates Trophy finds us in Germany where we visit the Sachsenring AND THEN WE QUICKLY MOVE ON TO AUSTRIA AND THE SALZBURGRING!!!
Some completely irrelevant history of the Sachsenring... The race track was first opened in 1968. Lying in a narrow, alpine valley, it has a rather simple layout, with two long straights plus the sweeping and fast "Fahrerlagerkurve" ("paddock turn") at the bottom of the course, and the narrow "Nockstein-Kehre" at the top. In spite of its simple layout, it garnered a fearsome reputation for the high speeds reached on the straights and the "Fahrerlagerkurve". Aussie 500cc two-wheeler great Wayne Gardner won here in 1987 on his way to Australia's first modern motorcycle racing World Title. This track is fearsomely fast, even in the 65s. Should be fun!.
Can't be bothered to find blurb about the Salzburgring now, look it up for yourselves you lazy lot.
Salzburgring on WikipediaThe Intermediates will race for 33 laps on this somewhat shorter than the Sachsenring circuit!
In line with the new handicapping system, the series leader and second placed man are handicapped. The others are too distant to require it!
