Moderator's Report

Clean Red Zone again. Very happy!

Server replay time: 0h02m42s

Hendy goes slightly wide and Pete becomes an unwitting HendyDestroyer through a healthy dose of warp - really unfortunate as Hendy had caught the slide and they weren't even that close but that is online racing :(

The third race of the Intermediates Trophy finds us in Germany where we visit the Sachsenring AND THEN WE QUICKLY MOVE ON TO AUSTRIA AND THE SALZBURGRING!!!  Grin

Some completely irrelevant history of the Sachsenring... The race track was first opened in 1968. Lying in a narrow, alpine valley, it has a rather simple layout, with two long straights plus the sweeping and fast "Fahrerlagerkurve" ("paddock turn") at the bottom of the course, and the narrow "Nockstein-Kehre" at the top. In spite of its simple layout, it garnered a fearsome reputation for the high speeds reached on the straights and the "Fahrerlagerkurve". Aussie 500cc two-wheeler great Wayne Gardner won here in 1987 on his way to Australia's first modern motorcycle racing World Title. This track is fearsomely fast, even in the 65s. Should be fun!.

Can't be bothered to find blurb about the Salzburgring now, look it up for yourselves you lazy lot. Salzburgring on Wikipedia

The Intermediates will race for 33 laps on this somewhat shorter than the Sachsenring circuit!

In line with the new handicapping system, the series leader and second placed man are handicapped. The others are too distant to require it!

Handicapped Driver(s)Allowed Chassis
RonniepetersonBT7
ClutchBT7 or Cooper

Please check the Season 23 pages for details regarding rules and the Intermediates Trophy pages in particular.

Qualifying may start before 9pm, if so, Reserve drivers should leave the server when 35 minutes of qualifying remains and only rejoin when 30 minutes of qualifying is left. This is to ensure that Full Time drivers get priority in joining.

Please restrict chat to pit messages if necessary, and this includes the end of the race, until all running drivers have completed the necessary laps.

The Intermediate Trophy races are run under Int Long rules and all incidents in the Lap 1 red zone will be moderated and reported incidents for the rest of the race, however the moderators reserve the right to review any incident. Drivers are reminded that they are limited to ONE Shift-R. The Red Zone will extend to the Scierie corner which is the 90 degree right hander at the end of the long straight.

Please ensure you are aware of the new in-series penalties for this season. Details are here. Drivers incurring a penalty will receive a PM informing them of this."

Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.

I'm confused, registration says 33 laps round salz 76, but this pages says at first same but also says we doing 16 laps of sachsenring 67.

It's the wrong forum to post this question, but it's kind of relevant to me racing I guess.

My old G25 packed up in the last couple of weeks.  I've replaced it with a Thrustmaster T500, and already had the Thrustmaster shifter (but for GPL, used the G25 one).

As the 2 bits of hardware are on different USB connections, I'm finding that GPL doesn't recognise the shifter.

The wheel works fine, but I don't want to race using paddles.  I've seen a GPLshift add-on, which may be what I need (though it doesn't mention T500's), but can't seem to get it to work.

Any pointers/advice gratefully received.

Unfortunately my home ADSL connection is dying and I think the problem will not be solved in time for the race...  censored

I'm getting used to it, having had a G25 since the day they were released just about.

The weird development thing is the static paddles (not really sure what they were thinking with that one), although you can get the Ferrari add-on wheel to overcome the paddle issue (at extra cost). But using static paddles for driving just doesn't feel right.

But so far it all seems like a sound product.  Just got to recalibrate my brain a bit to get used to the longer pedal throw, and spring resistance and wheel strength and where buttons are etc. But that will come with a few more miles (It was the same when I got my G25 I recall, in that everything felt a bit weird).

My main issue now is getting the usb connected shifter to be recognised by GPL, cos at the moment, I can't get GPL to 'see it'.

Thanks for the replys guys, I would be getting it for the Ferrari wheel, that's why I'm interested in it. It's a little wrong for GPL, but it looks so cool. Keep us updated as to how you get one.

I might add it to my christmas list, as I've been good so far this year Smiley

Sorry, going to give tonight a miss, 'cos I still can't get my wheel to sort with a shifter.  I'll get something sorted for next round for sure though.

Hi guys,

I really enjoyed my first online race tonight at Salzburg in the Ferrari. I've just seen the results and I'm chuffed to bits with my podium finish. How do I set my nationality as I have a blank flag at the moment. I need to put the UK's Union Flag in there.
