Yes the, BRM burns 4.8 liters so its less than the setup predicts Wink

Ok, thanks Axel, it did in fact look all right for such a high speed lap. Problem is, according to my calculator (!), to do 43 laps with 4.5 litres per lap consumption, I would need 193  litres, and my Ferrari can take only 173. So, to complete the full GP distance set in the game would be impossible. In fact, even fueling to the brim the car for these 37 laps, only gives you 7 litres to spare, which might even not be enough if you are following someone's draft for most of the distance (provided your engine can take the bashing of course..). Anyway, thanks for your help guys, will see you in a little while on the track.

Well, that was unexpectedly good fun, after one or three minor offs at Parabolica, I managed to reel in the two waza boys who were battling at the front, it took me half the race but in the end they had wasted enough time for me to join the fun for the last 10 laps or so. I was secretely hoping their engines had taken enough bashing with all that drafting to allow me some easy gain, and so it actually was (but what a disappointment you gave me Clive, when I realised it wasnt Hristo's fezza..). After Clive's demise, I was left alone having some good fun battling out with Hristo, using his slipstream to make up for the speed difference in the 3 bends. Then I fell pray of one of the dirties waza tricks I have seen yet, H diving into the pits to leave me out of his tow, and me numbly following him to stay in it, thinking he was going to just shave the pitwall as he did in a previous overtaking a couple of laps earlier. When I realised what he was up to, I was staring at the by then unavoidable pit wall, and my race finished in fireworks. If you have to end, do it in style. To be honest, it had crossed my mind to do exactly the same during the Monza race we had in the 69xs some days ago, so I cant really complain Grin Grin. Of course, I could think it was a diabolical plan, even cannily prepared in the previous overtaking..but I won't  Wink. Not good to lose at least a second place with a couple of laps to go, still had some real good fun and the time went breezing. Thanks for the racing guys, see you soon.

I'm not entirely sure why I organise these (almost) full length races - as I have a habit of not finishing any of them. A bit too hot to race tonight - well that's my excuse!
As ever congratualtions to the finishers - Hristo, Andreas & Phil.
I am declaring Andreas as the unofficial endurance champion - as the only driver to finish both the long distance races at Snetterton & Monza.

I always play by the rules.... they are MY rules!

Well that was fun.....I think  Wink

The grid looked like a Ferrari owners club convention ( or was it just a load of Italian hairdressers?), so I felt rather the odd man out in my white Honda.

Throughout qually I struggled to get the whale to turn with a heavy fuel load at Lesmo and Parabolica, whilst those red things posted lap times about 3 secs a lap faster ( Boy!! I was really hoping that they were all on qualifying fuel !!).

The start was a relief as a couple of the hairdressers bogged down off the grid and although at first I took avoiding action, it turned into a pass and I jumped at least one place  Grin. Everyone appeared to be struggling with cold tyres and heavy fuel, so I was relieved to discover that I could run at their pace.
One by one cars slithered off or threw their pistons at the scenery until I was in second place about 300mtrs behind Natan. I was closing but only very, very slowly, until suddenly he pulled over with a blown engine and yours truly was in 1st place in  a  WAZA!!! lol

A glance at prib showed Art and Hristo about 500mtrs behind, so I knew that they would benefit from each others slipstream and close the gap. The next 10 laps were a case of watching the revs and trying to nail the braking and turn in points to make the chasing cars work as hard as possible  Undecided.
Eventually the inevitable happened and Hristo bridged the gap, but at least I had someone to play slipstream with. The Honda had a potential top speed of well over 200mph with a little draft, but the tricky bit was hitting that speed at where I could make a pass. Passing around the banking is only something to do as a last lap desperate move lol, so I practiced a few runs on Hristo's Fezza to see where I needed to start a passing move. After all we had about 20 laps to go, so there was no rush and unless I made a mistake Hristo was not going to escape ( even if he tried to sneak through the pits!!)
It transpired that the exit of Lesmo 2 and the run down to Parabolica was where I needed to start my move to be able to cross the S/F line in front....quite  a bit earlier than I would have thought.
Because Hristo's Fez had more grunt out of Lesmo and Parabolica I needed to make the perfect exit from Lesmo to hang onto the slipstream. Then I had to get into Parabolica smoothly and be only 75mtrs behind H on the exit.
My advantage seemed to lie in my extra high 5th gear and I needed the straight past the pits + the first banking to wind it up. Coming off the first banking if I was close enough to the Fezza gearbox I could draft past before the second banking at about 205mph, or by just easing off fractionally I could wait until the S/F straight and if I was right on Hristo's tail i could jink out of the slipstream and beat him to the line........ So with 10 laps left I had my plan for a glorious win for the Wazamobile, I just had to sit and wait for the last lap Grin

Then Art's hard work brought him into a 3 way dice for the lead. Even after I had to take avoiding action at Parabolica ,when Art and Hristo invented a new racing line  Roll Eyes and lost a few hundred metres, I was still able to close the gap again...I was feeling quite happy.

Until,...............

Exiting Lesmo 2 everything went somewhat quiet!!! and I limped back to the pits somewhat deflated!!! Well it almost worked out.  Undecided

Great having a longer race to survive and use tactics to work out where to make your move instead of a flat out sprint like most races seem to be.

yet another demonstration of my lack of race craft. having got one place off the line and watched some one in front have an incident and H take the slow line through parabolica, the run off, i found my self leading. Keep it tidy i thought as 2 laps later i out braked myself and took the same line in to the run off at parabolica, i rejoined in 6th or so draged raced a brab toward the first bank where i slid in the barrier bounce back and reduce my fezza and the brabham into there component parts and ended upside down on the side of the track, dont who what that was but sorry, JR possably. I think im done with fun races, cant apply myself properly and am overdriving to keep with the pro's. angel

After seeing the great pace of Evil in the race, I felt kinda ashamed that I took the Fezza, but I really didn't expect the Wazamobile to be competitive here, despite the long flat out sections. When I went off in the beginning and dropped to last place or so, I didn't expect to have a chance for victory anymore, but in such a long race you never know. I kept pushing and despite another 2 minor offs, managed to close up on the leading pack, although the leader was still out of sight.

Then I passed his blown up Ferrari and it was only Evil now left in front, with Art falling back at the time in 3rd. The Honda had incredible top speed and it was only through Ferrari's superior speed around Curva Grande and Lesmo corners that I managed to close in and eventually pass Evil for the lead. Two things bothered me from there on - the fuel load of the Fezza and the prospect of running alone for the reminder of the race. Since I thought I had to save fuel anyway, it was the perfect opportunity to ease up a little and have some fight with Evil who had more than enough speed anyway, excluding his occasional bad line as result of too late braking.

This battle continued for a very long time and that allowed Art to recover the ground he lost earlier, to the extent that he now joined the battle for victory. Unfortunately Evil's engine expired just then and robbed him from a well deserved chance to win the race. I still wasn't sure of whether I had enough fuel or not, so I continued with some short-shifting here and there, with Art following close in my slipstream. Then came the moment when I decided to go through the pitlane, just for fun, but Art got caught out by that and crashed straight into the pitlane wall, ending his race. It wasn't intentional on my part, but I can see how it looks like a Waza dirty trick!  Grin

For the final few laps I pushed to the maximum and did 4 consecutive fastest laps, to end up running out of fuel right at the end! Using less revs for so long earlier made it possible to reach the finishing line, otherwise I wouldn't have managed. Perhaps running completely full tanks would have been a smarter decision, but I decided to empty it a little, based on the consumption seen during Qualifying. I guess all the slipstreaming ate a lot more fuel though.

Anyway, nice race!

This was a fun race and I'm sure no moderation will be required, but for some, departing and returning to the track could be considered an infringement of the rules.

Rejoining the race
It is the responsibility of any driver who is returning to the track to make sure they do not interfere with other drivers.

When rejoining the race after an incident or having left the track, rejoining drivers should stay off the racing line and give way to faster cars until they are fully up to speed. Rejoining drivers should not attempt to keep anyone behind them until they are fully up to speed. Any driver who rejoins a race and, owing to negligence, causes another car to crash or take severe avoiding action, will be penalised.

Gotta say I thought it was quite clever in the circumstances. Grats to the podium of Hristo, Andreas and Phil. Commiserations to Gareth and Axel who both went out early on; also Clive and Art for not getting the reward they probably deserved.  Despite an early spin/visit to the armco dropping me back, loss of power, and finally a smoking engine Ben Spies style after 10 laps, I still enjoyed this one. Before disconnecting I hung around a bit to watch Hristo and Clive swapping places up front and witnessed one of Hristo's breakneck tours in and out of the pits, cool! Thanks again Billy for the choice of track.

... spare a thought for Axel, the unluckiest competitor who did not complete a single lap at Snetteron or Monza 10K (although probably with some unwanted help).
This can be very frustrating - particularly when you have prepared yourself for a long race.
