Moderator's Report

Hristo Itchov took another win, on the road at least, but the stewards had other ideas and he was demoted to third. Clark-Hill team-mates Ronnie Peterson and Al Heller were the beneficiaries, moving into first and second places respectively.

Server replay time: 0h01m35s

Hristo brakes much later than John on the approach to the hairpin, and closes rapidly as they reach the turn in point. Hristo appears to realise a collision is likely and tries to take a line to avoid John. However John's car moves around a little under braking, possibly due to his tyres still being cold. Hristo is unable to move sufficiently in time and hits John's car.

Although there are slightly mitigating circumstances here, Hristo should have taken more care given that it was the opening lap and, having started last, he was racing with cars that he was much quicker than.

A short hop over the North Sea sees the 1967 motors arrive at Snetterton in Norfolk for round five of the Works Trophy. Hristo's winning run continued last time out at Zandvoort and with each race that passes a clean sweep becomes ever more possible.

I appear to have a random error tonight, in that when I start iGor, my chat won't work - the chat icon is greyed out and only flashed into colour when it triues to connect. In the bottom part of the screen it just tells me over and over that it cannot connect.

I haven't changed any settings - any ideas?

Now I have it too. VROC chat works fine.

As for my race, well I think that you guys are too fast for me in the BRM.

I've got it too - it's to do with the IRC server not IGOR.

I got into the chat just before the race, but coming back to iGor after the race, it was gone again.............

Anyway, what a **** night. I may have Q4, P5, but I'm soooooo angry with myself. On the first lap in nicked P3 on first corner. Then 2/3 corners later I thought someone was trying a brave/crazy move on my inside so stayed wide instead of apexing, and I unbalanced the car  - the front went light, and off I went. P7...  I got P5 back within a couple of laps thanks to 1 spinning Ferrari and 1 overtake, and started to chase Al down. For a few laps I was slightly faster and got close, but then I lost it at the hairpin, for what turned out to be not the last time. Then I had Andrew behind me and we were pretty close for pace. One of the other not-for-the-last-time spins let him through, and I spent the next 20 laps chasing him down without spinning. With less than 10 laps to go I injected some variety into the evening by going off at the first bend, and that was the last I saw of Andrew. I then had my last moment at the hairpin, and decided to go for the points, and bimbled home.

Hristo, if you'd seen any of my hairpin disasters you might have thought twice about overtaking me there! Nice move tho'... glad it didn't end in tears, although to be fair, I didn't ever go too fast into the bend, always managed to spin coming out of it.

WD to podium, and esp. to Al and Andrew. It was fun racing while it lasted, and I reckon that the 22 secs I finished behind Al is what my total time spinning cost me.......

Another great drive from Hristo!  And from the back of the grid, no less.  He's threatening to sweep the series, gys.  C'mon!  (And don't count on me to give him an ass whuppin')

Grats to Rocket Ronnie on a good P2 and to Al for P3.  Well done, gys.

I got out of this event exactly what I put into it.  And just reward, too.

No pre-race practice, showing up with a 3-1/2 year old setup(the old PB was a 1:25.38 that would have been good enough for P4 on the grid)but in need of some tuning AND...the biggie...dozing off to sleep while watching TV in the afternoon and waking with a start to see that practice was already well underway.  By the time I joined the server, only 19 minutes remained and I was still in a daze from my nap.  As if all that wasn't enough, I'd broken my own cardinal rule of no computer time prior to a UKGPL event by arsing about with the new CanAm mod.  For our race, my vision was very poor.  In the last week, I've been experimenting with yellow-tint glasses along the lines of gunar's glasses which claim to reduce eye strain.  About a dozen laps into our race, I ripped them off and threw them onto the desk.  Useless.

The day ended mercifully early when I dyked the Ferrari coming off the chicane and got stuck on a berm.  A fitting end.

I'll not be making the next round at Riverside as I plan that day to attend the season ending club races at Mosport.  Have fun in my absence!

Very bad race for me, it took me a couple of days to let the bitter taste out of my GPL system  no . Had started decently enough, I was following Ronnie, for many laps after a couple of position swaps in the first part of the race. Was driving very poorly for some reason, with no consistency and laptimes all over the place, but I could keep the gap at bay and was hoping to come back in the second part of the race, alothough I realised watching the replay that Ronnie was actually very quick, so I would have needed some help on his side to actually do that  Grin. Then Hristo appeared following his charge from the back, I knew it was just a matter of time as I could see he had never been far behind, albeit with a few cars to pass. Nice tussle with the waza Honda, when he finally passed me I was determined to at least go and catch second place from the eagled Ronnie. It wasnt to be, arriving at the last chicane I noticed what I thought was an anomalous cloud of dust, had the hunch there was a spinning car hiding into it and went left in a haste to try and avoid a crash. Totally wrong split second decision, not only there was no crash to avoid, but I unsettled the car and was launched against the wall on the left of the S/F straight, one wheel missing, end of it.. hammer Drove a very poor race, made another very stupid mistake, and I did quit GPL for ever and ever, an irrevocable decision that lasted an entire half hour after that... However, I found I am a flexible man after all  Grin Grin

Grats to Hristo for a brill charge from the back, and to podium and finishers. Glad theres always the next one to look out for  Kiss

I want to appeal to the penalty. JR was totally cruising and braking much much earlier than anyone else, and even though I braked earlier than normal to give the cars in front a buffer, it was obviously not enough. Am I supposed to stop completely and let everyone else get away? Also, he moved across the track as if to block me.

Another thing is, I was never even contacted that there was an incident report against me, so I could submit my point of view.

Noted H. There was no incident report because neither of you reported it but it was in the Red Zone.
