Moderator's Report

F2s? Haybales? Clean Red Zone?

I don't think so...

Server replay time: 0h01m00s

Into T1 Goran has an inside line. Natan is ahead & to the right, as he turns in there is a collision. Goran had overlaps & keep tight to the inside. Both drivers seem unsighted.

Unlucky for Natan.

Server replay time: 0h01m10s

After T1 Cookie runs into the barriers. He waits to check the track is clear before reversing. Natan emerges from behind the opposite hay bales on the left after his tangle with Goran & is taken out by Cookie.

We have had a similar issue before & called a R/I where the recovering driver has done his best to rejoin from an unsighted position. Cookie could however have used the F10 view which would have helped here.

Double bad luck for Natan

Server replay time: 0h16m09s

Goran cuts back in far too early after overtaking Sky.

The incident reports were funny though.

GJ: I went out to pass Sky and took a "look right" button peek only the wheel also followed to the right and there was Sky, totally my fault.
Sky: Worst overtake I have ever seen... and he should know ;)

Moderator's Report

Clean Red Zone? OOOOHHH! So nearly!

Server replay time: 0

Dave is caught out by Rainier braking early who had, in turn been caught out by Phil braking earlier than is the norm.

This is, however, Lap 1, Red Zone and drivers MUST be cautious. Cold tyres, full fuel load, late braking... not a good combo.

JohnnyO is an innocent victim.

Rainier asked for no penalty and there is no malicious intent but Dave is culpable here. Minimum I can give is a warning and a place for Red Zone.

Server replay time: 0

Jonny O slaloms through the hay bales to pass a recovering Badblood but there is a warp collision sending Jonny into the wall. Jonny resets in a part of the course which is on the approach to, or is arguably part of the pit lane but doesn't take a SnG.

Jonny may have been thinking that as a no-fault accident he was entitled to a 'free' SnG. There is now no such thing. Drivers are reminded that after a Reset (Shift-R) you MUST take a Stop n Go.

Technically this is a DQ but that would be a bit drastic.

Bad, bad, bad.  Goran was even worse than that tho, at the lap before... he had good run on me on the same straight... and went to the left... and alongside... and right again...into me. Who can mess the simplest pass possible, I don't know, but I guess fast drivers drive just as bad as the slow ones, just faster.

Worse, worse, worse, yes but no. My race worse, my pass on you Sky, worse but if you count me as a fast driver I do not agree about that fast drivers drive as bad as the slow ones, yesterday was the exception that proves the rule and it was not only the pass on you.

I was in 3Rd on the grid but H on pole did a poor start so I had to lift of a bit and Al passed me. After some minor tangle in T1 the order was H, Tris, Al and me. But soon Tris begun his drive-fast-go-off thing and being coward, or we can call it cautious if you like, I let him pass me a couple of times and Al disappeared in the distance. That was the scene for about 5 laps until I begun my Tris-copy-cat-rutin.

The pass on Sky was an one in a milion stunt that I never before done, the thing was that I used the "look right" button so see where he was and by doing so I turned the wheel a bit to the right, my "look right" button is the gear shifting paddle, and of cause there was Sky, so a big sorry to Sky and all the other drivers that were affected by the incident.

And I must say that this is the standard F2 race for me so far this season. It is kind of weird because I do not do in in Pro or Historic just in F2. So I guess I must use the summer brake to figure out my F2 driving.

Göran

PS. I can assure you Sky that I will get penalised if you report me.

Well... I reported it... I can assure you I'll be penalized 50 points for not exiting the track and blocking it or something... well, lets see what mess they do with my report. Whatever...

I'd forgotten how much fun this track was. Lucky to survive a big nudge up the rear from someone on the run down to T1 & then found myself elevated to 3rd behind H & Tris. That soon became 2nd when Tris went off at the end of the long straight on lap 1. There was no way I could keep pace with H & stay on the track, so I ran at my own speed & braced myself for Goran and/or Tris to appear in my mirrors... sure enough Tris soon blasted past me on the straight only to immediately spin off again under braking (brake balance issues?) After that I guessed Tris had some damage as it took him several laps before he reappeared but this time he swept past me cleanly. With a 20 second lead over Nicky in 4th I concentrated on not making any mistakes to try & hold down 3rd, but later on rather undeservedly inherited 2nd after Tris disconnected. So a bit of a lonely race but actually that was quite a welcome change after so many full-on battles in the other divisions Wink Well done H - bad luck Nicky to lose 3rd on the last corner but a terrific drive by Clive in the underpowered Cooper.

 Smiley
Big hand to the podium ones :  Hristo on pole , win & fastes lap , wd . ; Al on 2nd  , nice drive with most consistency ; Clive catching 3rd & made the Cooper faster then a speeding duck .
3rd would have been extreme undeserved to me , looking at my poor speed . Never got sort of close to my offline PB of 1-19-23 ( which is maybe medium fast ,lol ) .
Anyroads , race was big fun and mainly I was pleased my last minute repair , I had to do on my new Thrustmaster Rs500 pedals , did work . ( snap ring of a main bolt , which stabilized the whole rear of the pedal set case was gone ) .  AND no freeze/black screen ! ( did remove ATI tray tools & reinstall catalyst 9.12 ) should I knock on wood ?

Real bad luck for Tris getting discoed ….

Remembered there may be a race approx 11PM the night before.  Unfortunately upon checking, was not Zandy as expected! (I missed that one - Silverstone clash).  Instead was another new track,  so time to download & get a half-dozen laps done.
Not knowing the place, was happy enough with a 2:29 with a Pribluda suggestion of 2:28 being possible [although that was presumably going to be waaay off a half-decent time].

Was particularly surprised to have found myself in what was looking like a 4th position on the grid with a 2:24 after 1 lap!  Was slightly relieved I then lost a place in the closing moments - not used to being so far forward.

Inheriting 4th from the start was welcome,  but again - unfamiliar territory.

Apologies teamie for the shunt (unforgivable & just before the end of the redzone too...).   I thought I was being careful,  but clearly way too close at the time of impact  Embarrassed

Of course, for insurance purposes 'no comment'. No excuse, but was just caught out there under breaking.  Although, maybe that photographer peering round the back of that VW camper van was using a flash. Hmm...

Then I was battling with the scenery, particularly the entrance to the train tracks at T1.  I never managed to get my car in there though, despite multiple attempts.

A bit of a comedy detour round the back of the circuit via the perimeter road at lap 11.  Apart from that, a pretty miserable show.

Looks like the rest of the season is practically new (to me) circuits too. Oh, joy!

Cheers,
Dave.

Congrats Hristo, Al, and Evil       Cheers

Even with a tow, a 2:13 is a massive lap. Superb Hristo   thumbup1

I was well off the pace for this race. For some reason I don't appreciate Porto even though it is a fine track. Insults were flying after T1 lap 1 and I gained some spots. I was satisfied to just stay in touch with Sky and try and keep my nose clean. Saw a Cooper stuck in the haybales early and a few laps later Sky and Goran had a coming together in front of me. I was slow but managed to avoid any major offs. Evil was flying in the Cooper and soon went around me. I learned a bit behind him and increased my pace as a result. A loss of traction by Evil had me back in front and I was slowly gaining on Nicky with Evil gaining on me as well. With a couple laps to go I went in too hot at T1 and lost it. Thankfully Evil managed to get by without collecting me in the process. Had another spin later in the lap trying too hard and came home a fortunate p5. Better than I should have achieved with the disco's and other issues but I'll take it. That's racing right ?

Great pace in the Coop Evil   thumbup1

Tough luck Nicky. Nice race

Podium Al does it again. WD

Peace

Hi,

I'm yet to delve into the F2 cars but I'm keen to do so. Has anyone found any decent setups yet? I'm a big fan of Steve Cloyd's setups but he isn't making any for the F2 cars. Any pointers?

I have a lot of Protos setups, having only driven that for a full season in Mybroga, but the BT23 setup I did for this race also felt quite nice. I will upload them later and post a link.

Here are all the F2 setups I have:

http://racingleague.co.cc/hikiwaza/downloads/Hristo%20F2%20Setups.zip

Setups for some tracks are older than those for others and thus not as good, because I was still learning, experimenting, improving on them over time. Also, use the latest setup for each track, according to the letters and numbers in the file name. The abbreviations are as this:

q2b - means qualifying setup, version 2, sub version b.
r1 - means race setup, version 1, sub version a (omitted in the name).

I usually always start with developing a qualifying setup after copying over a setup from another track, so the race setup is usually derived from the last version of qualifying setup.

One thing that really helps with these cars is tire pressure. Even if it sacrifices some corner stability, pumped up tires really help straight line speed, more than I've noticed in other mods (though perhaps it's the same in GT mod, but handling there is usually more important).
